  1. Oh yeah! This one is looking good so far.
  2. Got the engine built. The red enamel is now dry enough to continue the build tomorrow.
  3. I agree, at a buck a can it's a bargain even if you can use only half a can. Just wanted to share my experience with everyone and looking forward to the results of your experiment.
  4. Thanks Carl. I call this color baby#### yellow. My mother had a new 74 Coronet that had an interior very close to this color with metallic brown paint . That's the look I was originally going for until the first paint job let me down. Thanks Curtis
  5. Be careful of that "bargain" Miracal paint. I bought two cans a few years ago and the spray cans are so cheap that I didn't use half of what was in the can before it stopped spraying.
  6. You can get the 2X primer and other colors at AutoZone. Like you, I avoid Walmart if possible.
  7. Got the interior done except for detail painting the shifter. It's painted with Humbrol Sand #63 and i brushed some Quick Shine floor polish on everything but the carpet. Chassis is also done except for the exhaust and spare tire. Engine is OOB and it's not a bad rendition of an RB motor. It doesn't come with a starter or oil pump (the oil filter doesn't connect to anything). I painted it with Testors little bottle enamel Turquoise. Not correct but I like the way it looks. Put a pin in the top of the carb to locate the air filter.
  8. I've had good results with Krylon Colormaster Red Oxide primer. It's not a bright red but it's not too brown either.
  9. Got this as soon as it was released the last time. Started on it a few months ago but stalled at the painting stage. So I picked it back up a couple of weeks ago and sprayed it with some Testors One Shot bronze. Big mistake! Looked like #### so I stripped it and sprayed it with some Tamiya Light Sand. Much, much better. I assumed this was a gloss paint but it is flat. A clear coat will fix that. Kinda liking the narrow whitewalls on this one.
  10. Turned out great
  11. Nice! these old AMT annuals always look good.
  12. Great find!
  13. My oh my that's nice!
  14. Cleaned up an MPC Dodge pickup that I stripped yesterday. I used Testors One Shot Bronze and it looked like a steaming pile. Paint do overs are becoming the norm lately.
  15. i think that a lot of the paint issues that we are having recently have more to do with the plastic than with the paint. Styrene just aint what it used to be.
  16. Beautiful model!
  17. Very nice!
  18. I built one of the prepainted ones several years ago and I had to remove a lot of material from the top forward edge of the dash and also the flange on the bottom of the windshield to get the interior to go all the way up into the body. One of the few times I have actually used my Dremel tool. Don't recall any other issues. Hope this helps. I didn't attempt tp use the side windows as I don't like the way they obscure the view of the interior.
  19. Nice work and the color is perfect for this car.

    Jungle Jim

    That does look nice.
  21. I love that fin on the console.
  22. It’s just some peel and stick textured vinyl on a small sheet. It’s not precut or anything. I have an original 66 Riviera that came with some of it.
  23. I posted pics of my GTX in Under Glass a couple of weeks ago so I guess I should post some here as well just to close out my build. I decided to paint the hood flat black.
  24. Never laid eyes on this kit box before. Those are some of the nicest custom parts I have seen from that era of AMT kits. A lot of them were down right hideous, just check out the 69 Impala if you don't believe me. I agree that this one needs a Winfield fade paint job.
  25. I like it.
