Hello Everybody!
Here's a little more progress on the Mummy Machine.
The mummy head is the most visually prominent part of the model and how it looks really sets the tone and establishes the general character of the rest of the model. I wanted to go with something a bit more on the realistic side to balance some of the over-the-top opulence of the rest of the car.
Although the bandages look white I actually used Tamiya XF-12 J.N. Grey over the base TS-46 Light Sand. The skin is a mixture of Tamiya XF 68 Nato Brown, XF-52 Flat Earth, XF 15 Flat Flesh and XF-2 White. I just thought of the skin as leather then mixed and painted accordingly. The teeth are a mix of Tamiya XF-2 White and XF-15 Flat Flesh.
All of this was followed up with various washes and dry brush applications.
The directions call for assembling the mummy head on the car, placing and gluing the rear section to the floor, followed by the tongue seat and then the front half. I chose not to do it that way for obvious reasons. I'll just have to work out the final assembly details when the time comes.
With all this work accomplished I thought it was time to reward myself with a test-fit mockup. The body tub is currently in black primer but it will soon be painted in a beautiful gold.
Once again, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post a comment if one feels the urge to do so.
