Nicely done! David G.

Thank you Carl. Thank you Trevor. Yeah, I just couldn't leave that raw plastic showing when I could do something simple to cover it up. David G.

Thank you Alan, I wasn't aware of that. I wondered why there was a color difference but nothing definitive came up in the little bit of research that I did. I must have picked up on that somehow though as I was disinclined to put the Japanese Imperial flag victory markings on it. For European deployment the other emblems would be more appropriate but none are provided in the kit. People are averse to reproducing images of the broken black cross... for any reason... in any scale. Rightfully so. Maybe I'll come up with something. Maybe I'll just leave them off all together. Thanks again, David G.

Testors 1/24 Ultra Detail Series T Bucket
David G. replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This looks like it's going to be a fairly quick and easy build Joe. Hopefully you don't have to fix much more of Testors' "Ultra" Detailing. I mean... mold lines?! C'mon guys, really?! That's model building 101! Nice work on the engine so far. David G. -
Glad you're back! David G.

Now I see what you mean about the intake setup Les. That's a much better option than cutting the hood. The way you layered the colors on the body it almost looks like it was carved from a block of wood. It seems like you're going for a patinaed barn-find sleeper. Cool! David G.

I'm really diggin' those tail lights Jim! An excellent design that fits well with the rest of the car. Now that it's in primer, all the bodywork looks great! The top does seem a little short though. Since it's all still in the experimental stage, have you considered sectioning the body? It does seem a little slab-sided in comparison to the top and reducing its height could improve the visual balance. I do like the gold tooth! See, I can come with some good ideas every now and then. Cheers! David G.

Impressive work, as always my friend! David G.

Hello Everybody! I'm quickly approaching the finish line with this build. Here are the results of my most recent build session. I've installed the front and rear glass and did a touchup of the flat black around the windows. From this view, one can see the marginal quality of the window castings, most noticeable by the distortion when looking through the rear window. What doesn't show as well is the haze and streakiness of the glass. I managed to polish most of that out but it's still there. That's all for this round. As always, thanks for following along and please feel free to comment. David G.

Thank you David. I managed to get the rest of the glass installed and cleaned up yesterday and a good number of other things accomplished. The build's mostly done now and I hope to have some photos to post tomorrow. =D-

Nice go on the axles! For the intake, maybe a hood cut is in order? David G.

They're all good with the exception of the last one. To my eye the style doesn't line up well with the style of the body. The first is my favorite though. Maybe with a gold tooth? David G.

Nostalgia Fuel Dragster--Blower Manifold (01/28/23)
David G. replied to Straightliner59's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I just found this WIP and spent the last hour or so going through and catching up. 😮 I have to say that I'm completely blown away by the intricacy, level of detail and overall fidelity to a 1:1 Top Fuel Dragster. Museum quality Daniel! Thank you for taking the time to document and share this with the rest of us. Builds like this deserve to be preserved. David G. -
That dragster is unbelievable Daniel! 😮 I think I remember seeing it before. I did a search and found both the WIP and Under Glass so I can have a look. David G.

Saying "barn roof" I meant the bonnet. Its shape reminds me of the old barns where I grew up in the in the Midwestern States. I hadn't noticed anything wrong with the top. BTY, I won't tell anybody the focus feature of the aforementioned photo was accidental, if you don't. Happy accidents and all. =D-

Hello Everybody! Another build session, another update! I finished painting the flat black around the windows before installing the side glass and partition. There's a little cleanup to do on the side glass (isn't there always?) before installing the front and rear windows. This installation is also a test fit to make sure that the partition glass and compartment divider align properly with one another. I did have to make a little adjustment. As a bonus, look what I found the other day in Forza Horizon 4! I wish my paint looked this good! That's all for now. David G.

Thank you Noel, I'm pleased with how it's all going so far. A Checker? I would love to have one of those! Both IRL and in scale. I had a chance to buy a Marathon many years ago but the seller was asking $10,000! In 1989! 😮 It was in rough shape. It barely ran. And I was dirt-poor. Which was probably a good thing because even at that time I didn't think it was a good purchase. I always thought of the London Taxi and the Checker Cab as two sides of the same coin. Trans-Atlantic equivalents as it were. Thanks again for your comment Noel. =D-

Dang! 😮 I had no idea of the workings behind this. That's a tremendous bit of engineering, almost "Steampunk" in many ways. All of that could be done with a chip and a handful of servos now. Quite impressive! Thanks for sharing this Bill. Thank you most kindly David. I am optimistic about the Taxi... as long as I keep after it. David G.

Wow David! That first photo really works well! I think having the car slightly out of focus and the angle of the light source helps tie it into the background quite effectively. And I do think that the man in the bowler does look like Henry Ford. At least to me. Nice progress on the car too. Once you get the barn roof to settle in, it's going to look great! David G.

Seeing all the amazing work you do Daniel, it's difficult for me to imagine that in your world "good enough" ever is. With all the micro machine work you do, it seems that you're just a few steps away from building an entire model car from raw stock. Model railroaders do build entire scale locos from sheet brass and there's Randy D's famous Birdcage Maserati right here on this forum. Just a crazy thought. David G.

Model factory hiro Porsche 935/78
David G. replied to Brudda's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
This just keeps getting better and better Bruce! That engine is amazing! David G. -
Well, I read it Jim. I find it's a great way to learn new skills and concepts. It looks like you have the chassis ready to go and the body seems to be catching up fast. David G.

It's all shaping up quite nicely. David G.
