  1. Thanks Al. It's Dupli-Color Sunburst Gold Metallic BFM0351. And thank you Hector and Jeff for taking the time to post your comments, I do appreciate them. David G.
  2. I just finished one of these too! Yours came out nice. Love the color choice and racing bits, kind of an 80's street machine look. David G.
  3. Same here! I also think of Harry whenever I fabricate an alternator bracket to avoid having the dreaded "floating alternator", another of his pet peeves. David G.
  4. Looks like you're off to a good start. David G.
  5. Thank you all for the kind comments. I really do appreciate the feedback. David G.
  6. Looks great! David G.
  7. I'm impressed by your seat-of-the-pants engineering. You have a lot of very cool stuff going on there. Also, I'm glad to see that you seem to have decided on using the moons for the rear wheels. You just can't go wrong with a classic! David G.
  8. Nice weathering! A great first attempt. David G.
  9. Excellent work so far. The paint scheme and colors really suit the body style. David G.
  10. Thank you Gregg! I'm really looking forward to seeing MCM back in print and I wish you the best of luck with it. David G.
  11. Excellent color choice! The paint looks great too. David G.
  12. Thank you all for your kind comments. I almost forgot my traditional Display Case Shot. Thanks again, David G.
  13. I actually finished this one almost two weeks ago but I was having trouble getting good photos. This is the AMT Super Wagon drag racing version. For those who may be interested, I have a build thread here. My new cell phone camera is just rubbish. I have to trick it into taking decent photos. But I finally managed to get a good capture of the color. Most of the photos I took made it look too pale or too red. These aren't as good as I would like but they are about the best I've been able to get. I'm fairly pleased with this one. Though I wish it had just a bit more shine. Here is an earlier shot of the cargo I made for it. I couldn't get a good photo of it with the lid on. Thank you to those who provided feedback and support during the build. I can't tell you how many good ideas I've gleaned from all the comments and recommendations I've received over the years. On to the next project. Let's see if I can knock out one more before 2020. David G.
  14. Sweet Mustang! Looks great inside and out. David G.
  15. Looks great! The paintwork and interior detailing are both very well done. Those decals look like they could have been a bit of a challenge. David G.
  16. Fire damage is probably one of the most difficult effects to model convincingly. What you've achieved is spectacular! I remember seeing a burned out truck on this forum some time back, a MAN if I remember correctly. Was that one also yours? David G.
  17. That has to be the finest completed example of that kit that I've seen. Well Done! David G.
  18. Thanks for your reply Mark. One-piece chassis never bothered me too much. They can really be brought to life with some good detail painting and I really enjoy detail painting. One feature that I do dislike is the tub style interiors that frequently accompany those chassis. Those can be a bugger to paint well. Any way, you asked me for some numbers. To my eye, the wheel base looked like 4-9/16 ". I know that the camera angle makes it look like 4-5/8" but it was 9/16". Across the mid section, we have 2-7/16". Hope that helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with. Hi John. Was the Powerglide that two-speed automatic? If so, that has to be one of the worst automatic transmissions ever! I had a two-speed auto in my '71 Pontiac Ventura with a 250 straight six and that thing was a dog! I used to say it would do zero to sixty in 4.6 days! Yeah, I don't think I have one of those in my parts box. Thank you John. I do remember gold being one of the more popular Chevrolet colors not only for the Chevelle but also the Impala. Anyone who grew up in the '70s and '80s, chances are that you knew someone who owned a gold '68 Chevy Impala- if you didn't own one yourself. Thank you Hector, I'll take a look at that. *********** OK, I finally settled on the "items of interest" for the interior. We have a spare wheel, a cardboard box with a greasy rag and some miscellaneous tools in the back. It was pointed out to me by Snake45 that groceries in the cargo area are likely to topple over so they're now tucked safely behind the front seat. Thank you to everybody who took the time to offer comments, tips and advise. On to final assembly! David G.
  19. Looks like a fun project, you're off to a good start. David G.
  20. Excellent work on the weathering! David G.
  21. The paintwork looks great! The clear coat should punch it up nicely. David G.
  22. Thanks Ricky. Yeah, that wasn't meant to be the final placement of the grocery bag, just the most visible one for photo purposes. Besides, I've seen worse. I've been thinking about cutting the bottom of the bag down a little bit, but if it ends up on the floor in the back seat, I may want that extra height. Hmmm. Thank you Michel. I have several more bags but the hard work is in coming up with the groceries to fill them. Thank you Scott, I'm glad you like it. On the transmission matter, I addressed that in a post on October 12. I decided that once the car is in the display case, the steering column would be more visible than the transmission and with the brake pedal cast into the floor as it was, removing that and adding a new three pedal set wouldn't add that much to the appearance of the interior. I had even considered swapping out the manual gearbox for an auto I wasn't sure if I should use a TH 350 or 400, or even if either of those would be correct. But thank you for taking the time to point that out. Those are obviously things that do matter to me and I may have been a little disappointed had I not thought to address that. By the way, any thoughts on the grocery bag proportions? Again, thanks to everyone for the feedback. I now have some new thoughts to consider. David G.
  23. Excellent street rod, looks great from every angle. David G.
  24. Paint looks great! I also like the heat scorching on the exhaust. David G.
  25. Thanks Sam. I'm beginning to reconsider the grocery bag. Thanks Ricky. I wish I had some luggage. If I did, it would have been my first choice. If and when you do start in on that wagon, be sure to post some photos. I'd love to see one of these in full race kit. I'm trying to make a decision on the grocery bag. I feel that it looks too tall and a bit too big in the back of the wagon. So now I'm calling upon the wisdom of the crowd (that's you guys) to help me decide if I should use it or not. In some ways, it still doesn't quite look right to my eye but the more I see it, the less I dislike it. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for your feedback. David G.
