  1. Excellent set! I really like the Batmobiles and the Misery Machine. David G.
  2. Thanks Dann, it's one of my favorite model-related things to do. That and detail painting. Now it's on to one of my least favorite model building tasks, filling, filing, sanding and painting. The actual work of it is really not too bad, it's the waiting for materials to cure for the next round of filing and sanding. This is usually where I start another project to fill the wait times. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
  3. Thanks again for the kind comments, I truly appreciate the support I receive from this community. I also added a little more detailed information on each of the builds. Thanks, David G.
  4. Thank you all for your kind comments. Here's looking forward to another great year of building, learning and refining. David G.
  5. That's beautiful! I love the diorama too. David G.
  6. For the last three years I've averaged about one model completed every other month, this year was no different. Here are my six builds for 2019. This is AMT's 1971 Dodge Charger. I won this kit in the Desert Scale Classic raffle back in 2012 or 2013 if I remember correctly. I finally decided to build it as a companion to the 2013 Dodge Charger I built as a replica for my daily driver. I started this kit in January of 2018 and finished it in April with about 57 hours logged. Another kit by AMT, this time it's their 1929 Ford Model A Roadster. This particular version of the kit has enough parts to build two complete models, this stock version and a full-on custom roadster or any combination of the two. I haven't built the second one yet and given the issues I had with this one, I'm not in any hurry to do so. I started this one in April and finished it in May with about 35 hours invested This is the 1951 Chevy De Lux convertible, again by AMT. Since the color I chose for this car was not one of the factory colors available in 1951, I decided to build it as one of those famous Cuban classics that had been lovingly kept alive for the past six decades. It has Cuban license plates, a flag of Cuba window decal and an "I ❤️ Cuba" bumper sticker. I started this one in May and finished it in July with about 60 hours spent. This is the 1940 Ford Early Modified kit from AMT. When I was around 12 years old, I bought one of these kits because I thought it was a really cool car- which it is. It was also way beyond my skill level at the time. As I began working on it as an adult, I quickly realized that this kit is probably beyond the skill level of most 12 year olds. I actually started this one in May of 2014 and had to put it back in the box due to frustration issues. I finally finished it in August of 2019 with about 60 hours put in- give or take forty years This is the Alien Xenomorph designed by H. R. Giger and put into kit form by MPC. It's a rather simple kit with limited articulation and an awkward posture but it does yield a decent representation. This one was started in July and completed in September with only 24 hours to finish it. A close up of detail painting on the head. This is the 1965 Chevy Malibu wagon by, yup you guessed it, AMT. This is the "Superwagon" version and can be built one of three ways: full drag race, race-crew wagon or as I chose to build it, stock. I also put some tools and a spare wheel in the cargo area and made a bag of groceries to put on the floor of the rear seat. Literally a "grocery getter". This one took 44 hours between September and November of 2019. I hadn't realized that four of the five cars I completed this year are AMT kits. ? Any way, thanks for taking the time to look and have a healthy and prosperous 2020! David G.

  21. Thank you all for sticking with me on this project. Finding the will to work on it is a bit easier when I know that there are people who are interested in what I'm doing. Dann and Claude, thank you for your encouragement. David and Rusty, I'm pleasantly surprised by your suggestions regarding the interior. My original intent was just to throw some clutter in there to have something more to look at than a seat and steering wheel. I didn't worry too much about it since I figured that most of it would be covered by the body anyway. Now I'm thinking of ways to modify my plans for the body to reveal more of the interior that was originally intended to be little more than a suggestion. That's why I enjoy builds like this one. They tend to be stories that write themselves as one goes along. I do want to keep the scoops as they are. There's a kind of schlocky seventies custom look about them that I like. Also they kind of fit in with the whole aircraft theme I'm working toward, at least in my mind. My first thought, in keeping with the aircraft theme, was a sort of cockpit canopy. I quickly realized that that was way more work than I wanted to put into this pile of spare parts. And honestly, a bit on the overkill side. The next idea was a rat rod style slat top but that doesn't fit too well with the direction I want to go. That lead me to a VW factory sun roof. It would be a fairly easy modification, have a justifiable explanation and wouldn't detract from the theme of the build. That thought also lead me to a Herbie style cloth top but there again... More work than I want to do, and would probably reveal more of the interior than I want, causing me to feel the need to add more refined detail. So, here's the final version of the lightly weathered, detail painted, chassis portion of the Karma Bug interior. As always, thanks for the support and suggestions. David G.
  22. This is without question the best General Lee build I've seen. And having been a member of this forum since 2009, I've seen a lot of General Lee builds. So many in fact, that I almost didn't stop to look at yours. I'm glad I did though. David G.
