  1. Hello everybody! I had the time and energy to get a bit more done on the Pacer. I got the engine completed this weekend. I decided to use the stock 258 6 cylinder as is. K-Mart oil filter included! At home in the chassis. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feeel free to commen, David G.

  7. Hello again, time for another update. I got some painting done, sprayed the chassis in black, the interior in tan and selected a dark metallic green for the body. I also cut the AC vents, radio and gauges from the dash board. I'm using the mounting point that goes with the .50 cal that I've borrowed from the MPC WWII Army Jeep. This Pacer kit also has roll cage for the rally version- nice coincidence. I like the way this one is coming together. Nice profile. As always, thanks for looking and please feel free to comment. 10. Thanks Gary and Kerry- wait, you guys need to stop rhyming . OK, I got the junk-box axle epoxied to the chassis. I just slapped it over the one that is cast into the chassis plate. At this point I'm more interested in "shelf appeal" than detail. It took a bit of fiddling but I managed to get the rear axle lined up nicely. I also raised the front about two inches to offset the rake that developed and give the car a bit more of an off road stance. I'm not sure what I'll do about the engine. I'm still considering a curbside build. Or I may just build the 258 six-banger and slap it in there. That stance does make it look ready to pounce, though. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
  11. While I'm collecting parts for my 77 AMC Hornet AMX, I decided that I wanted to have some fun with another AMC based project. I could make it into the car from the movie "Wayne's World"... Nah, let's give a .50 caliber machine gun and make it into a post apocalyptic supply recon vehicle. We'll need some chunky all-terrain tires and a beefy looking suspension. I found a suitable rear axle in the parts box. It's going to take a bit of effort to fit it in. I'm starting to like this. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.

  19. Ah, a Volaire kit, of course! I was wracking my brain for a source for the flairs. That'll be the most challenging part of this project. Thanks for the tip. Is that Volaire kit still readily available? I do have it safely disassembled now and I'm making my parts list. Thanks again, David G.
  20. Here are some sunlit photos. A little improvement, but not much. Earlier I mentioned my "Outdoor Studio". Well, here it is! And last but not least- a photo of the Bug on the "Showroom Floor". Thanks,I hope it was worth the trip David G.
  21. Thanks everybody, I truly enjoy reading your comments and feedback. I plan to get some sunlit photos tomorrow. David G.
  22. One of my all-time favorite cars that I owned was a 1977 AMX Hornet. So of course, I've wanted to build one for some time. I recently found a suitable model from which to start. My goal is to turn this: Into this: (Not my photo) It's an old Jo-Han promo. It'll need some interior modification, so I'd like to disassemble it without breakage. I'm also considering using the body and mounting it to a suitable donor chassis, if there is one. At this point, I'm still very much in the research and planning phase- collecting parts and information. If there is anyone out there who has experience with these, I would be appreciative of any advice that you could offer. Thanks , David G.
  23. Nice progress so far. David G.
  24. Excellent work! Looks perfect in every way. David G.
  25. Coming from Revell of Germany, it's a Euro-spec Bug which in my mind explains the bumpers but not the headlights. If I remember my VW history correctly, the bumper over-riders were on the deluxe version which was the one shipped primarily to the States. Regarding the headlights, one of the many transitions for this car in 1968 was the change from a 6 to 12 volt electrical system which is when the sealed beam lamps came into use... I think. At least that's what I'm telling myself. Additionally, by flattened look of the hubcaps, the wheels on this one are the later era 4-lug when they should probably be the early 5-lug with the more dome-shaped hubcaps. To tell you the truth TĂșlio , I'm actually a bit flattered that you're paying such close attention to my work, thank you. David G.
