Recent acquisitions, continuing my obsession with large scale bikes. The Grim Reaper is factory sealed. The Trike is unstarted, but unfortunately missing the decals. The Yamaha was advertised as new but the two halves of the frame are glued. It was a decent job so I decided to let it go. I was able to "repair" the Yamaha's caved in box to a decent condition by using a damp rag and a clothes iron from the inside.

Chopped Mini Mockup

Somehow this ended up in under glass. My bad. Can an Admin please move to WIP or something more appropriate? -
Just mowing the grass gives me the same jitters.

What was your first model car?
redscampi replied to Kit Karson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not really sure. But it was a 50s vintage car with a clear bubble hood. I remember I painted it black. All of it, and some of me as well. -
I don't know how many times they've buggered up simple things like leaving feedback. It get worse and worse and their seller fees are so out of control that it's not really a viable option. I'm not sure how you could make a fair profit with their share getting larger all the time. They squashed eBay Bucks too because I guess they weren't getting fat enough off the junk fees. Eventually someone will come along and bury them, just like every other online business that gets too big for it's britches.

Color came out nice! -
I think what I would do here is to dry brush the orange back onto the engine. This needs to be done with an old brush with almost no paint on it. Wipe it on a paper towel until almost nothing comes off. Then hit the corners and high spots until you're satisfied with the results. Again, I'd suggest practicing on a spare engine to get the feel of it.

Going off topic in a thread on a modeling forum seems like a really poor reason for anyone to get upset. Get up, go outside and try some fresh air. Or, read the news and see what happens when people start arguing about things that mean nothing in the long run. To quote Bill Murray, "It just doesn't matter!"

You've got a good eye for design Alex. Do you have multiples of the Jimmy Flintstone tanker and Chevy COE or are you using the same ones for each mock up? I guess I'm asking because I'm curious if these are all real projects in the queue or just ideas.

I bought this as a glue bomb basket case from eBay and have been chipping at it here and there for several months. Thought I'd throw up a picture since I've never seen one built. I've had to fix broken parts and get creative to replace missing parts but that's always more fun than building right outa the box. In any case, here is where I'm at so far.

Nice work so far! Those pipes are show quality! -
2007 F150. Technically not terrible, but just try and change the stupid spark plugs on the 5.4 V8. They would break in a variety of ways, sometimes dropping pieces into the cylinder. This was a known issue, so much so that you could rent an extraction tool specifically for this task at any auto parts store.

Having not been around in the 40's when these were built I will defer to your wisdom. Although you shouldn't let what other people do with their own stuff bother you... On a side note, the engine on my tractor is not stuck and I'd bet it'll run as well. I just don't need a tractor... -

How do you keep your models clean?
redscampi replied to redscampi's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thank you all for some great insights. I don't really have room for a giant display case, Tom, but man that's nice! (My models have to vie for room with my vintage fishing gear collection and various other "things"). One thing I have considered is finding some plastic wrap, the non-clingy type and draping a small sheet of it over each model. The main disadvantage is that the models are not then "on display" but that might be OK since I'm the only one who cares to look.
