  1. My Dad had a 90 (I think, maybe 89?) 4.3, extended cab. Between the trucks that he and I have owned, I think that is still my favorite. He sold it with around 250k miles on it; next guy kept it for another 100k before unloading it. I'd love to find a first generation one in good shape!
  2. Decided to redo the wheels in aluminum ... Also, a shot of the underside ...
  3. I suppose we all know this kit shares parts with the Revell Syclone and somewhere along the way, tooling was misplaced, damaged, or whatever. The kit, out of the box, gives you Chevrolet S-10 body panels, wheels, trim; and gives you the GMC Syclone drivetrain setup. I'm ok with that, although I would really love a plain-jane S10. Anyway, I have a few of these in the stash and started working on one last month (December). Here's where I am so far. Wheels are not attached, and I'm thinking of striping them and going back with an aluminum finish. In these pictures, wheels are Alclad II Black Chrome. Other metallic finishes are either Alclad II Chrome or Tamiya spray lacquer Gloss Aluminum TS-17. Tamiya washes used throughout. Pardon the dust.
  4. I think I have kit 24085, which is boxed as the "Mazda Eunos". I didn't realized there was a RHD version of the kit.
  5. Wow! Nice picture of the 1:1 car there! Oh wait, that's a model?!?!?!?
  6. This is great! Really love seeing all the details that you're adding.
  7. Been a while since anyone brought this up - this is a great project. Has anyone done a LHD for the old Tamiya Miata/Eunos?
  8. What a boat! I missed this the last time, too. So, looking forward to picking it up.
  9. I think it's one of the coolest "utes" I've seen in a long time - I love these sorts of mashups. Do you have more pictures? In progress shots?
  10. Nice work! It is a great little kit!
  11. That is sharp!
  12. I don't know how I missed this before. What a beautiful build!
  13. So very cool.....
  14. Guess I should have mentioned - I totally buggered the "glass" by trying to tint it with Tamiya smoke. I've had great success with this in the past, but for whatever reason this was diaster and I wasn't able to salvage the kit's glass. So, I cut new pieces from clear K&S plastic sheet. The shiny bits are all Alclad II; although the wheels are as they come in the kit - sort of a flat aluminum plating (which is quite nice). I lost one of the pins for the front wheels, so I fashioned one from styrene rod. Decent, I guess. At least from a few feet away. I ended up stripping the original paint. I used Tamiya red oxide primer and Tamiya light metallic blue for the exterior. If you look closely, you'll see some trash in the paint around the rockers and the tail panel. Since the red oxide shows through slightly, I think it ended up looking like a car that is being driven daily, but needs some work. I decided to let it ride. I have one more of these - in Pace Car markings, although the decals are shot. The Pace Car version includes T-Tops and different wheels. Uhm....?
  15. I've built three of those now - it's a great little kit. I really like your color choice.
  16. Really digging the swamp cooler!

    Datsun 280Z

    Beautiful work!
  18. You are correct! Tamiya Light Blue
  19. Welp, I didn't finish before the new year, so - it's the first build of the new year!
  20. The old motorized kit from circa 1979. Tamiya paints used throughout. More subpar phone photos here: https://southernfriedherring.weebly.com/scale-stuff/tamiya-124-datsun-280zx-finished
