Lancia Super Delta `1992 WRC Makes Champion' - Hasegawa
oldcarfan replied to Kemszi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
So nice. Is this a reissue? I remember having a kit like this back in the 90s. It got crushed by movers. -
Watching this. It looks great!

Beautiful build! As far as the axles, I would take one to the hobby store and match the diameter to either some plastic or brass rod. Then you just cut it to the needed length..

Enamel Testor's paint.
oldcarfan replied to ewetwo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good catch! I would either keep them as a colector's item or put them on eBay and sell them for a good profit rather than try to rehab them. Unless you enjoy the challenge of making them usable. There are people who collect memorabilia like that. -
Anybody else just bought a Foose Cady for parts ?
oldcarfan replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I was just at the LHS a little while ago looking at this kit and the Foose 56 Ford truck as well, trying to decide if they would be good to buy for parts. -
Cool idea!

I can vouch for this set. I ordered it last year and it is great!

I really like where this is going!

I was a Ford fan as a kid, so I never really payed attention to these cars. Now I really like them!

If you decide to cast it, let me know! My grandparents had two of these. My gran had a fully loaded dark brown one and my grandpa bought a creme colored one with the police package and (I think), the 350 in it, vinyl bench seats and all. I know that it was fast. He drove to projects a lot as a civil engineer and wanted something fun to drive.

I'll have to get this kit just for the bike! -
Best '32 Deuce two door kits
oldcarfan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
From a technical standpoint it is hard to beat the newest Revel kit. It's weakness is the use of 90s era running gear, but the rest of the kit is great. From a nostalgia point, I love the others. Here's hoping Revell decides sometime to back date the kit with a prototypical 50s rearend and a flathead. -
keep stopping at the end of my builds

I have the same issue. I don't know what it is. I don't make a mistake usually, it's just like I hit a wall and can't finish. -
Why do people dig up these old threads???
oldcarfan replied to Force's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like looking at the old threads. My only objection is the lack of pictures and that isn't the sites fault. That idiocy falls at the feet of the failing Photobucket. I will be glad to see them go out of business. -
I've never been interested in 1/43rd scale, but I read his writing because it was good.

I bought a couple kits when Hobby Lobby had their sale, the old Dodge 70 Hemi Challenger, the new Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Ram. I made a small amount of progress on my build, mostly just cleaning up the body and such. I also got the Cummins 6BT from Trailer Trash Kustomz, (thanks!). I was leaning towards a redneck rat-mobile, but then I remembered one of my favorite trends from a couple years ago. The Dajiban? Remember those? Japanese racers take old Dodge vans and lower them for road racing. So I've decided to build.... The DajiRam! I plan to go low and 2wd instead of the original idea of lifted and big tired. I was going to do a different chassis, but I am going to try modifying the box chasis first. I lowered the rear and am trying out the 70 Challenger front suspension. Here's a picture of a Dajiban and a pic of the mockup with the engine laid out.

Back when I was a kid in the Jurassic times, every kit producer had custom vans and several have been released lately. One that stands out is the Revell Chevy or GMC van with the custome grille and bumperettes. It was 1/25th scale and came in several variants. The ones I can remember were the Hardy Boys, the Charlie's Angels and the KISS vans. Were there any other versions and is this mold still around? I think I remember an A-Team version too, but not sure. Now another question, is it possible that someone could duplicate the decals for these versions?

The 4 cylinder out of the Chevette might work. They were around the same time period as the Monza.

Choosing a glue bomb..
oldcarfan replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Usually for me, it's more of a spur of the moment thing, maybe some kit that I had as a kid. I rarely find them in a store so when I do, I get excited. I also tend to shy away from one's where the trim is covered with glue or the chrome is missing unless I have specific plans for it. -
Yes, the Duplicolor Hot Rod Primer is nice stuff. It comes in a spray can, so if you airbrush you'll have to decant, but the color is right.

"65-'66 Mustang chassis ?
oldcarfan replied to Greg Myers's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I haven't tried it, but the AMT 67 Mustang chassis looks like it should work pretty nicely. It's definitely a lot more detailed. -
Polar Lights VW - Spider-Man Issue Kit Review
oldcarfan replied to Tom Geiger's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I came across this thread while looking for information on the California Roller VW van I just got. I want to build it out of the box but with better wheels from the Beetle. Just for information, the new Harley Quinn reissue of this kit is the same as the Spiderman one as far as options, but with different stickers. . -
This is one of my favorite kits, especially this reissue with all the cool parts. I built it at around 10 y.o. when it was molded in orange. I think it was the Orange Crate or something like that. I got it by begging my grandma for money. I built it that summer with probably two tubes of Testor's tube glue. I'm at the age where I get nostalgic, so a couple years ago, I bought two of the Rat Rod reissue and built one as a stock 29 truck and the other as a hot rod.
