AMT IH Scout II Reissue with vintage box (yellow scout ii)
1972coronet replied to ranma's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Heck , this version has over 62 parts ! We're getting gipped ! ? -
225-powered Chargers are rare and unusual ; I've seen only three in person , and a couple on the 'net . You're a plastique surgeon , par excellence !

From what I understand , those Star Trek kits are a solid sales-base --a majority-- of their products . Trek fans will spend tonnes of money on good Trek collectables . That's great for we vehicle folks , as the profits help fund vehicle kits' restoration / newly-tooled components ( 1963 Nova Wagon and 1964 F-85 / Cutlass Convertible come to mind ) and upgrades (expanded decal sheets , etc. ) . I'm awaiting the reissue of the Marlboro Man . I could use some Marlboro decals , 1/25 scale cartons and packs , as well as ol' smoky himself for a diorama .

Precisely my initial thought ~! HAHA ! Such an arbitrary proclamation .

The box art is definitely ERTL style . I remember seeing that box art kits at Sears when the kits were new . I can't attest to what the actual contents are , however . I'm going to grab one this time around .

I believe that the newly-tooled , now-former D.O.H. snapper kit is now under the Coca ~ Cola banner . It certainly IS superior to that ancient glue version .

OUTSTANDING !! I'm please to note that the 340 from the Duster fits (with some work) and appears to be in-scale ! Kudos to you , my friend ! -
Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood ! was a great film . Classic 'alternate history' or 'revisionist history' at its finest . Whoever was in charge of recreating Spahn's Ranch (which burned-down in Sept. 1970) did a fantastic job with capturing its appearance . With the exception of a few historical inaccuracies --truly , only would be noticed by a geek like me-- the film really captures Los Angeles / Hollywood in 1969 . Another stick of dynamite is Doctor Sleep . Many mind-bending vignettes and scenes . Carl Lumbly as Scatman Cruthers' character from The Shining is spot on ! Pink Floyd : Live At Pompeii -- Director's Cut (1974) . Excellent live and studio footage of the band at their -- in my opinion -- height . The 1974 Director's Cut is an 'improvement' upon the 1972 release , as it features Gilmour & company in the studios , and chatting during a meal at the studio canteen .

8 second electric Ford Mustang

Something which only true gear-heads understand . Nothing beats the sound and feel of carbureted engine ( more wild when an oxidiser is added to the mix ) --- that's something that an electric --truly , motorised-- engine cannot provide , 8 second 1/4 mile not-withstanding . -
I think --judging by the photos-- that it looks great so far . Maybe carve the horn ring and affix it before any trimming and massaging of the centre and spokes ?

How about the column from the AMT 1971 Charger ? Just clip-off the ignition switch .

Yep.. we're the backwards ones when it comes to that . Same with 24-hour format... Now back to your regularly schedulled programme ! -
Cheap & Fast has been the mantra for a long , long time . Those bubble gum welds are amazing ! Cheap & Fast "landscapers" are another example -- leaf blowers aren't used by REAL landscapers . As I've been saying since high school (1986) : Strive ! For Mediocrity .

My eyes and fingers hurt just looking at that ! Too bad it's not working out for you ; but , at least you can't say that you didn't try . I'm sure that you've perused resin as an alternative , but never-the-less : 1974 camaro in Automotive Models and Kits | eBay

I just boughted this one-thirty-tooth scale Snap-Tite Mustang Coupe offa eBay (see image) . I can't recall if I ever builded it back in the day ( ergo , when it was new ) , but am happy to have it as a slump-buster . I would like to hear opinions , tips , etc. ; see some finished examples of this little cutie .

Looking great , Mike ! RE : Decal faux pas : At a minimum , at least Revell got the engine air cleaner's decal correct : Six Barrel , instead of the usual --and colloquial-- Six Pack , which is Dodge's nomenclature . I see those styllised Wilwood decals ;wonder if they'll fit ?
-
A fun old kit , if not a bit long-in-the-tooth . It'd be nice if Round2 were to jazz it up some : New slicks (sure , keep the styrene wrinkle-walls , too ) ; coloured glass option ; a grip of decals ; and some minor tooling repairs ( the example I have --from c.2005-- has sink marques on the quarter panels *right* where the emblems reside ) .

Thanks much . I suppose that I'm stating "full-detail" in the loosest of terms ; should've said "includes and engine / radiator" . The older that I get , I appreciate these 'low-part-count' kits ( the restored / reissued / newly-tooled 1964 Cutlass F85 is another great one ) .

Man , that is some great work ! Those bumper mounts resemble the actual bumper "rams" of the 5-MPH Bumpers of 1974 & later !
