  1. Thanks Snake.. I think the scoop is a bit overkill myself, but I just want the car to look like it does on the box top. I’ve seen issues of this kit with a blue car on the box, but on the original box, the car always looked black to me. I especially like the “Edelbrock” decal on the scoop. So.. I’ll be sanding off the “Weiand” on the resin hi rise intake I’ll be using.
  2. I hear ya.. even if I had an expendable income, I’d still be careful with my money. I’ve met quite a few people in my time that had more money than brains.
  3. I agree. This Old Pro kit caught my eye as a kid. I thought it was the coolest looking car. Then you were fooled by its contents. All I ever wanted was to have the car look like it does on the box. I’m sure a few people have done this before, but I figured I might as well too. I carved out the rear tail lights, to remove the separate back up light, but I’ll have to head to the LHS and get some red clear Evergreen.
  4. Not getting too involved with this one right now. My carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve entrapment, and back problems have kept me from the bench. Especially when I have a few other projects to finish up. But I was toying around with this idea. Revell 69 Nova, with the vents removed, and the actual Old Pro scoop grafted onto the Revell hood. Stole a set of wheels and tires from the Dyno Don Comet. I’d like to paint it black, with the nice set of the AMT decals. What do you all think?
  5. That’s how it all rolls, I suppose. It’s not a seldom thing to see an open kit with the two engine halves glued and painted, actually go for more than an untouched, pristine kit. Both sellers would have perfect feedback, so that’s not the issue. I could never figure that out?
  6. The big yellow directory of model car kits. Seventh edition. Bill Coulter. Like I said earlier, I get it’s just a guide. I notice some things go the other direction too. A nice semi rare kit going for less than you would normally expect. I bought myself a Johan 63 Dodge Polara for less than the guides price. If I remember correctly, I believe I was the only bidder on it too. The 63 Dodge just happened to be one of my “must have” kits, btw. I’m just happy I found one, let alone was able to buy it.
  7. Maybe people are getting loose with their stimulus checks?? Lol
  8. I hear ya Snake.. been many times I’ve scrounged parts, bodies, hoods, etc, to get the project done.
  9. Good point.. anything can be re tooled, or re released anytime. I had the AMT original release of that Mack truck kit, (green rig on the box) that I sold for $120. Then a few months later it was re released with better quality rims, and anyone could buy it for $35.
  10. And then that thought comes into play... “ did I loose out on the kit over a buck or two”??? when the auction is over.
  11. Yes. Sometimes I wonder if owning those couple rare kits I want is even in the cards anymore?
  12. I totally understand. I also am a big fan of Stephen King, and collect his first edition books. I’ve seen some listed in a guide at a price, and seen them sell for 10 times that amount. But then sometimes you get lucky and get a great deal... go figure.??
  13. https://www.ebay.com/itm/363322452842 This is the one that got away from me.
  14. Due to allowed space, I have approximately 60 completed builds, and 60 unbuilt kits as well. It also seems I have about 10 projects going on as well. There are some completed builds I’ve sold, as well as 1 or 2 “in progress” projects as well. I really try to keep things in check with these numbers. As soon as I see some items not fitting on my current shelves, and getting placed somewhere else, I try to thin the herd a bit. I plan on buying a Pace paint booth, and an air brush set up, that will be set up and used in my model room as well. So I can’t see my collection growing anymore than me buying 3 or 4 rare kits I really would like to have.
  15. Not complaining, or anything, but I’ve noticed some of the more rare kits on the Bay are going for some big dollars. I normally check the price guide, then I really decide if I need/want a particular kit, before I decide what money I am willing to part with. I don’t mind going above the value listed in the guide, but lately, some of these kits are going for three to four times what they are listed in the guide for. As I do realize that it’s “just a guide”, and the market constantly changes. For example, I had my eye on a Johan Dyno Don Maverick kit, that was valued around $85 dollars, so I put a bid on it well above that, and now I was outbid with a new bid of over $200! Thats astronomical... no matter how badly I want the kit, I’ll have to pass. I do understand people can up the bid for someone, which is against Ebay rules, but it’s happening in many, many, other items as well, so I don’t think that’s the case. In closing, there are only a few kits that I really desire, probably three or four of them, that I would like to own, but at these prices, I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
  16. Isn’t the top grill with the markers a Comet grill?? I know the Maverick had them too since 71.
  17. If you could give me some of your 1980s pointers in model building, it would be much appreciated!! Because that is one fine looking Camaro you built. Very clean, and detailed. Nothing here that would take your attention away from the subject. Very nice.
  18. I might even buy a set for myself, and rebuild the yellow car all over again. There are so many things on that build that I was not happy with, that I just might disassemble, and at the very least, re paint and re decal the body. That car was definitely a pain in the neck for some reason.....????.....???
  19. Thanks for the info. I was thinking about trying to raise the fronts in several of my builds, but decided not to because of the way the front end is designed. I have broken several of the tie rods on some of mine in the past, leaving me to either scrounge another, or try to fix the broken one. We both have pretty much the same idea on the way to get it done, though. About the decals.. I’m almost positive I had a set from Fred Cady lying around. I do remember that the decals for both cars are from one card. I even remember that I mistakenly used the wrong door decals on the wrong cars. The “INC” on the decals is slightly different for each car. I haven’t seen these anywhere in a while. Top End Decals (Jack Smith) does have the Ken Vogt set for $8. His decals are some of the best I’ve ever used. You might want to check with him. I have a price list of his if you would like to check it out?
  20. Uhmmm yea. It’s still a Comet.. Man that thing is nuts!! Beautiful color and workmanship.. to say the least.
  21. I have that same 64 kit too. This is my next car I plan on building, using the parts from the A/FX Dyno Don kit.
  22. Sure. I’m almost positive it’s from the AMT 1965 Ford Galaxie kit.
  23. Tony, btw... would you mind sharing how you raised the front suspension? The T Bolt front suspension is a bit touchy. Yours sits perfect.
