I couldn’t believe how high the bids got on this kit. I have this kit, only with a painted body. I was going to bid on it, but now I’ll have to pass. In The Directory of Model Car Kits, it has a value listed as $20. I suppose it’s worth a bunch more to someone? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F133326927644

Good question. I could be wrong, but, I’m sure many builders would most likely pass on an AWB kit, over a regular muscle car kit, or truck kit. Being an old GM guy, I’ve never really had much interest in them myself, until I started building more Mopar models, and started doing some research on these cars. Even in my drag racing days, I never really read up on how the Fords and Mopars, really dominated the strips in the 1960s. Now I can’t wait to get a few more of these kits, to build a couple more AWB cars. I know a few fellow modelers that think they are downright ugly, and show no interest in them. Just my two cents though.....

Aluminumslotted wheels?

“Best looking” is a matter of opinion between many builders. What looks good to some might not to others. But there are resin suppliers online, eBay, etc. Do a bit of searching, and buy a set that looks good to you. -

Received my second kit yesterday, and the replacement kit that originally turned up damaged, is “out for delivery” today. Now that I have a set of Lee Smith decals, my plan is to build three cars for now. I noticed that Speed City has some real nice spindle mount rims, I just might add to my builds. I can see these builds adding some $$ especially when you start to factor in the cars that were sedans, and buying resin bodies. Maybe Slixx will print some decals for some of these cars. -

You’re welcome. Fireball is the way to go. I had to buy the tires and rims, the springs, AND the roof marker lights all separate. Fireball has it all. -

The wheels and tires are from Scenes Unlimited if I remember correctly. And the springs are from a seller on eBay. This was built before Fireball Modelworks had his stuff to do this conversion. I would contact Joseph at Fireball, and he will have everything to do this conversion CORRECTLY. I had to do a lot of sanding and cutting, to get this to look halfway decent. I plan on building another version of this kit, and I will be buying the parts from Joseph. -

Yea, it’s definitely a puzzle to get it back in. Last night I tried like four times trying to get the Melrose Missile back in so the box will close. -

I’m sure the seller will part the kit out, minus the body, and EASILY re coup his money. -

No not really.. more disappointing since I had been waiting since the pre sale. I’ve bought from this person many times. I knew it wouldn’t be a problem. The new one is on its way, and the damaged one on the way back. I won’t be building it right away anyway. I should have quoted daddyfink on how he described the box being packed tight, and the body laying on its side in the box. Looks like mine definitely had some pressure on the side to bend the roof like that. -

I like how the Johan Dart and DeSoto are showcased.... -
Haha.. The founder started his business in my home town. They tore the factory down, but kept the corporate office building as a landmark. Kinda looks like an old bank. Don’t worry, Mr Peanut will be back.

Very sad news. He was a class act all the way. I was just saying to the wife the other day, that I don’t want to ever fly again. There is some sort of airplane problem almost every night in the news. These corporations have more incompetent people employed, and, are more worried about turning a profit, than the safety of their passages/ customers. Not saying this is the case with Kobe Bryant, but just saying.

I totally agree with you on this. Dyno Don car made from the regular Comet kit. I never thought the front wheels sat correct. I will correct this on the street car I have on the bench, that I have been working on. -
Ive noticed that the Revell 90 LX Mustang drag racer kit, also has a nice pair of un chromed wipers.
-
Wow. Nice workmanship. The PE wipers seem too thin to me. Maybe a set of Thunderbolt wiper would be in order? Also, your floor looks great so far. I know what you mean about the scratches. I’ve added a couple layers of putty on mine so far. I’m not sure what exhaust system you plan on using, but maybe the new system might hide a few marks left from the old cast in exhaust? This is going to be one nice 65!!

Mine arrived today...crushed! Messaged the seller for a refund. One flimsy piece of a supermarket ad for packing material. Pretty much a $30 box of parts. -
I don’t even know how I missed this thread??? Truly amazing stuff going in here.
