Whats your work area like?
Lordmodelbuilder replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I got back into the hobby in around 1995 I was building on the kitchen table. Later that year I built a custom desk & that became my work bench as seen in the 1st picture. In 2001, we bought our first house & I got my own room. 2nd picture shows the same desk/workbench as it was in 2004 right before I put everything into storage. After having all of my modeling stuff put away in storage, I started to put the hobby room back together again in late 2014. I put the room back together kinda like it had been with shelving on 3 walls for my collection. I then threw together an L-shaped table to work on. Last bench pic is from mid 2015. I was in the process of fixing my older builtups. Being in storage wasn't good to them. The other pic shows my old Testors paint station that I just got put into the room along with the storage cabinet under it that I have had since 1969 that my dad built for me.& my model display cabinet that has been around since the 70's when I built it as a bookcase for my mom. Enjoy the pics. I love seeing all the cool spaces! -

Nice pictures. Thank you for sharing. -
Had a great time yesterday at the show. Great turnout & lots of awesome models! Was nice to talk to old friends I haven't seen in quite some time. Here's a link to my pictures. If anyone has pics of the VW baja bug model, please post it. My camera batteries died & I forgot to get pics of it when I came back in. http://public.fotki.com/Lordmodelbuilder/plastic_model_related/lower-left-coast-nnl/

While not completely my model, I did do my part on this now defunct group build. Project Snowball Redux 53 Chevy.

Here's a Monogram 53 Chevy Bel Air I did. Made it into a 2-door post & changed the Bel Air trim. Powered by a built 6.

Good old plexiglass headlight covers. Brings back happy thoughts of a time long gone. Love the KMET stuff too. Was the only station to listen to! Any reason you didn't place your bumper sticker upside down?

AMT '59 Ford: What the...?!
Lordmodelbuilder replied to John Goschke's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The AMT 56 Ford Crown Victoria dash is the same way. No radio. No biggie, we know how to fix these minor details. Nice work on your build. -

BARE METAL FOIL
Lordmodelbuilder replied to cschick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I too, buy my BMF straight from the manufacturer. I tried the bright BMF when it 1st came out and it just didn't work. I also recently had problems with the regular chrome foil. I had 2 sheets from 2009 and I couldn't use either of them. The foil would tear when I tried to peel it from the backing. I bought some new BMF and the package said "Improved" Not sure how old it was, but the glue seemed a lot stickier then the old stuff. -

Great job on your Mustang. Reminds me of my neighbors car when I was a kid.

Gremlin Street Freak / Gasser - Done!! 8/31
Lordmodelbuilder replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Cars
As a child that grew up in the 70's, I remember reading about the Street Freak craze in all the car mags. I love what you have done to your Gremlin. That thing is badass!- 142 replies

Let's put an Olds' in it
Lordmodelbuilder replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
While I don't have an engine pic, here is a picture of my dad's 1939 Ford Standard from 1956. It had a swapped in 1950 Oldsmobile engine in it. Was built and ran good. They drove out to California from Ohio in it in 1956. Was a daily driver till sometime in the 70's when he sold it. The owner drove it and then it sat for a long time. He sold it in 1984. I went and looked at it right before he sold it. Sure wish I could have bought it. Anyways, the car pretty much fired right up after sitting for so many years. It's still around somewhere, just can't locate it. Brad -

Have to agree, I don't care for any of those. -

You guys are good! I should have known parts of the interior were from the El Camino. I have one that he had built & also some parts of another. Not sure about my plans Tom. Kinda thought maybe to just get it up on wheels & finish the engine & leave it alone. Thanks again, Chris,Don,Tom.

I actually got this model a while back, but just recently have begun to clean it up & find some missing pieces to complete it. It came from a friend of mine. Her dad passed away a few years ago & I ended up with with his model parts & collection. Not sure what model company made this kit. Kinda wondering what kit the interior parts came from & also what the chassis is from. I know the Chevy engine & rear differential are from something else too. Any help with identifying anything on this would be appreciated. Thanks,Brad
