  1. Many thanks for the kind comments everyone. This kit took over my workbench, once I started on it I couldn't stop building - took only three days start to finish.
  2. Yes, I do like it!
  3. Looking really good, Shane
  4. Beautiful!!
  5. Looking good Dennis, some nice variations to the kit. Can't wait to see it in paint
  6. Built mainly out of the box, with the addition of plug wires, parts box wheels/tyres and a lowered front suspension. Paint is by Tamiya, main colour is metallic blue, with pearl white/light metallic blue (dull coated) on the interior. Overall a great kit.
  7. Thanks Dennis. I haven't lowered the rear, the tyres have done that for me and there's just a little rake. Having seen the other builds on here, I couldn't stop building once I started . I'll get this one finished and then make plans for the other one in my stash after this mainly OOB build.
  8. I've had a go at lowering the stance to suit my preferred style with some success. The channelled crossmember looked flatter, so I switched this to the highboy chassis, raising it as much as I could. The transverse spring was relieved of a leaf and dropped lower on the mountings a la '32 front axle. This is how it looks, the rear tyres are smaller in diameter compared to the kit. It sits just a little higher than the Revell '32, lowered slightly from stock by changing the front axle mounting as Tim did many years ago.
  9. Welcome to the forum Hanabi - that's a nice looking Porsche. There are quite a few on here that build GT cars, it's great to have someone else building this type of car.
  10. This is the car I was inspired by, Del, I know nothing about it other than it was Ted Leventhal's car.
  11. This is the first mock up with the chassis completed, ride height seems fine (phew).
  12. I was inspired to build this having seen a picture of a 1950's custom owned by Ted Leventhal. It's based on the AMT '51 Chevy convertible kit. All trim and handles were removed, replaced by scratchbuilt side trim and fender skirts. Paint is Tamiya Racing White and Metallic Gold covered with Transparent Green. Interior is the kit's tan plastic with a light dusting of white primer and Tamiya Racing Green, all 'dullcoted'. Still undecided about wheels/tyres, these are parts box items.
  13. That's a great looking build Al, I love the modern touches.
  14. These are wonderful kits to assemble (can you say Tamiya? ) - there is full suspension detail even though most is hidden from view. I'm glad they haven't reissued the Martini version, or I could have saved a lot of money buying one off Ebay and sourcing aftermarket decals
  15. Great start Shane, I'll be following this as I've already built a custom version myself and have another in the stash.
  16. Thanks Tim for all your input on this kit - it looks like a winner to me. There have been other, lengthy threads about this kit, including images of the sprues and built-up test shots. I don't recall any adverse comments about the engine in those threads, even after the following picture was shown:
  17. You did a wonderful job on this Matt.
  18. Looks great so far Jonathan - you sure build fast!
  19. One of my favourite cars, Ken
  20. I used the same method as Frank on my two woodies - it worked for me
  21. Very nice work
  22. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your success.
  23. Thanks for this Gerry. That Model A is even more of a 'must-have' now! And there are a couple more must haves too - the BMW i8 and the Corvette for starters.
  24. Nice work jb, looking good.
  25. Test Looks like it worked
