Kenworth conventional experts
Jim B replied to leafsprings's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't believe that it had a different model number like the W900L of today. This is similar to the W900/T900 the Revell of Germany makes; just a different year. -
Good looking Mack. Never did understand the chrome spokes in this kit.

Nicely done. Sort of has a UJM/Café Racer look to it. I like it. -
Polaris submarine
Jim B replied to Kit Basher's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
I don't know how accurate these are (nuclear submarines being classified, and all), but aren't the USS Thomas Jefferson (SSBN-618) and the USS George Washington (SSBN-598) different classes of submarines? Isn't the USS Thomas Jefferson an Ethan Allen class submarine? Not that something like that would stop a model company! -
Polaris submarine

Nice looking sub. I remember building one like that a long time ago, but I don't remember it having a clear hull. I think it was gray. Maybe it was a different issue. Did the cut-away U-boat, too. -
1950 Ford F-8 Big Job
Jim B replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Interesting build, Brian. The last resin F-8 that I saw was by DENCON Resin. He offered the fenders, frame, engine, tanks, etc.; but he's been gone for quite some time now. -
Scale size?
Jim B replied to KBryan67's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
You might consider making your replacement parts with basswood instead of balsa as the grain is smaller, and the wood is a lot stronger. Some other popular model ship building woods are apple & pear as they are quite strong with a very small grain. -

Have also considered picking up this kit. Will be watching your progress with interest. -

You might find something here: https://modelexpo-online.com/Wooden-Ship-Modeling as they specialize in wooden ship kits. I don't know how much money you want to spend on your Constitution, but here is a replacement wood deck: https://scaledecks.com/ It's not cheap! -

The USS Constitution is 207ft from billet head to taffrail. This works out to 2484in. Now depending on where you are actually measuring from and to for your 25in, I'd say you have the 1/96 scale USS Constitution be Revell. Here are some dimensions that might be helpful: Length: 304ft (bowsprit to spanker); 207ft (billet head to taffrail); 175ft (waterline) Beam: 43ft 6in Draft: 21ft (forward); 23ft (aft) Good luck with your project. -
Model Truck Contest Leaflet - 1977
Jim B replied to Jim Whalen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think you missed the deadline to enter the contest! Jerry's decals are pretty good. The print is nice & crisp, and the edges are clean. The decal film is thicker than the stuff used by JBot, so they don't "self-destruct" when you try to apply them to the model. The on thing I noticed on a set that I used was that the white was a little translucent, so it let the primary color of the model show through. Not a deal breaker by any means, but something to be aware of. -
37 Chevrolet Road Tractor
Jim B replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great job on the '37, Brian. I don't think that road tractor has seen the open road in a long time. Very convincing weathering. -

Revell Auto Transporter

Nicely done. Now you need to fill it with 1970s Dodges. -

This should be interesting. Where are the wheels & tires from? -
