  1. Actually it isn’t for us... the TV and movie memorabilia market is much bigger than ours. Their conventions are huge and draw the general public. Enough money there to pay celebrities to attend and sign autographs. Round Two will sell oodles of this kit to that market. Many will remain sealed and displayed on shelves that way. If the show’s stars drove a spaceship that would be the kit. We are just along for the ride! And Rbray brings up a good question.. why didn’t R2 put figures in the kit? So easy to do!
  2. Go for it! It’s a great project and the satisfaction will make you feel a bit better and look forward to the next step! As far as the distributor, I don’t know if you were looking to drill 9 holes in the kit’s unit or if one big hole will work for you. That’s what a lot of prewired ones are anyway!
  3. That is very pretty! I have my eye out for one of these Citroen’s! I remember driving around Paris in these as taxi cabs!
  4. I did the hour and a half run to work for five years! Even when you work 8 hours it’s like you did overtime each and every day!
  5. Wow! I looked at every photo for a good long time! There is just so much to see! I love the more door body. Many years ago I was in love with a 34 four door sedan that was for sale but missed out on it! Regretted it! The sedan is just different and cool. Thanks for mastering it so others can have the pleasure of building one too!
  6. Yup! Exactly as I predicted and feared! And it would be amusing if it wasn’t so sad that as the news reports the upticks they avoid mentioning the cause!
  7. I didn’t build it so I don’t know for sure! I believe the pool and bridge were built with town building permit. Today you might even need some sort of EPA permit to cross the stream.
  8. Very nice model and I’m a sucker for a great story!
  9. Cool! Measure twice! The Falcon and Ranchero are different tools and there are differences in some of the key measurements.
  10. this is a side ramp off the bridge to the yard, before you go up the steps to the pool area. This was the worst section so it has the most replaced boards in a row. I agree with Expo, that Trex would be the way to go, but I replaced maybe 10% of the existing boards.. everything else was solid. And we are considering selling so I’m pretty much repairing what needs to be done. My big issue right now is finding a 2-3 day window of no rain to get the stain / paint on the darn thing!
  11. Funny that those brakes made it through inspection. Here in Pennsylvania state inspection I’d done by licensed garages. Since they get to do and charge you for repairs, there is a big incentive to fail you for something! I have to take my Hyundai in for inspection this month. The brakes are fine but have 50,000 highway miles on them so I’m expecting them to get flagged. Seems that if something is low enough that it won’t be good for the year they zap you.
  12. Congratulations on finishing a model! I wouldn’t strip it, I’d buy a second kit to build with the skills you have today. Keep the pair as a contrast of your improved skills!
  13. Agreed! Once you have the supplies out and are into the rhythm.. I do that with repetitive small items. Last time I added plastic thickness to MCG photo etch seat belt buckles, I did enough for 3-4 cars. I was doing them for 3 pickups anyway! Same with making my own distributors. I made 2 more for 6 cylinders the last time!
  14. Super! All of your builds are over the top!
  15. Ships deteriorate at different rates depending on where they are and no doubt by the quality and armor of their metal. I understand that ships very deep can be deeper than sea life and very cold water can be very well preserved.
  16. We have stayed close to home, only going out for shopping and daily walks around the neighborhood. When we go out we wear our masks and use hand sanitizer. Masks are required here, no quarrel with us! We have only done two social visits with my daughters, who are also quarantining. We’ve done these as backyard barbecues with social distancing.
  17. Welcome to the herd! Do you build too?
  18. Important to note.. when attorneys file these blanket nuisance suits, they aren’t looking to take it to court. They know the it will cost the entity they are suing dearly to provide a defense so they are hoping for a settlement offer to go away. Companies have paid these because it’s the cheapest way out for them.
  19. Argh! The other evening I was painting the Jeepster and it popped off the paint stand and fell into the muck in the bottom of my spray booth! I waited a day for it to dry, and sanded out the crud and gave the back end a new primer coat. I’ll check later on to see if it’s okay to paint again
  20. Agreed. One of the reasons I fly out to GSL is to observe the cutting edge of the art. There are always a handful of over the top masterpieces exhibiting skills I will never possess, but that I can admire and learn from.
  21. Photos are your friend! I take pictures at every stage of the process as a tool to spot issues while I can still fix them! In the spirit of better models, here’s a suggestion... the same flat black that you used on the chassis can be used up in the front wheel wells and inside of the body. Take your spray can and spray a little paint into a paper cup. Then you can carefully brush it on. I do this kind of brush touch ups all the time
