What did you see on the road today?

Plugging and playing.. the thing that stalled this project was the wheelbase vs the overall length. The body is a Pyro Auburn with Monogram Model A cowl fused to it. I did have to narrow Auburn to handle it. Here’s the body sitting on a Monogram chassis. Note the overhang. Is that cool or should the body be shortened? Here is same body sitting on what would be an extended wheelbase chassis.. Whatever I do, the changes will be crude, garage type mods in the spirit of TROG. Note that position of body is set by grille location. Thoughts?

Ditto! I too saw this as a scratch building project and had an eye out for scale drawings to get the dimensions right, but I dawdled. Procrastination wins once again!

My beloved '56! I had this in the late 70s. I started the model last year, got this far! My father's Beetle from when we lived in Germany. That's the only picture I have of it, sitting out front of his office. And I started it last year and only got this far!

Wise choice! I love mine! Just stock up on filters. I bought a box of a dozen on eBay cheaper than local! I love this project. I had fun with mine and I have a couple of these set aside for future projects

Very cool builds! And two more than I finished!

I save all my cutoffs of everything.. styrene, wood, parts and shapes whittled off of kit parts, old non kit plastic pieces.. for instance I changed a toilet flush handle this week. The arm was white plastic shaped like a scale girder.. so into the box!

This is a very nice kit to build. Full engine and chassis detail. My wife’s younger sister had a lime green one. I helped her buy it and wound up as it’s caretaker. It was a bulletproof little brute. I built her a copy of hers and gave it to her a few years back

The big problem with eBay is that it was founded for collectors and got greedy and decided to chase Amazon’s tail with consumer garbage. A bit ago someone posted on the eBay Seller board asking how they could increase they’re sales in the Postcard category.. eBay response was that they should sell something popular like sneakers! That’s supposed to change. eBay just hired a new Head of Collectables who already said they realized they’ll never beat Amazon and are going to focus back on their roots. We will see! -
Ollie’s has signs that state they reserve the right to limit quantities, but I’ve seen people in the store with two full carts of dry goods like they were stocking a bodega or something! In my HL I asked why there were never kits in the clearance area. A manager told me there was one guy who came in every day and would buy it all. Which reminds me of the early days of eBay, back before most auctions had pictures. A guy in my model club would go to Walmart and put all the NASCAR diecast in Lay Away. Then he’d list it all! Every week he’d go pay for whatever sold with the buyers money! I thought he as ingenious! And that’s the American way!

EBay encourages “trolling for suckers” since everyone gets 200 free listings a month. It costs people nothing to put a $10 kit out there with a $1,000 Buy It Now. They even get lucky sometimes! -
Very nice work! Extra credit for opening her up!

Although sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers, eBay does ding buyers who don’t complete transactions. Ive had people contact me that they want to buy one of my items but eBay won’t let them bid because they have two unpaid strikes. As if I’m going to deal with them off eBay! -
