  1. Very nice! A favorite old kit. You can build a stick Beatle and still have an entire drag chassis! I have wondered what other body I should put it on!
  2. Funny thing.. if you got on the line with six cans of beans, they’d probably make you put two back! ?
  3. Ollie’s has a large sign up front in my local store stating they will limit quantities to assure availability. That’s obviously left to the cashier level and isn’t being followed if sales are up to $1000. But their money is green!
  4. Ollies ad in my morning email.. did they get a new load? Looks like same stuff

Very cool build! What I find interesting is that back in early 90s when I built my 32 Vicky with VW chassis, I caught a lot of grief from the modeling community that I was being disrespectful to Fords! Wish I knew about this kit then!
  6. Thanks for fixing the photos on both threads. I read them both! One of my favorite old kits, one of the first I built when I returned to the hobby as an adult.. and I built mine very far from stock! And I don’t care if the body is less than perfect.. it’s an early 1960s kit for Pete’s sake!
  7. It would be nice if someone with an Alps printer did both the side and front logos in silver! I have one of those Matchbox Power Wagons that I wouldn’t mind building something from!
  8. I hear ya! You do have the tenacity to set up a tent over and over so you have the passion to build! My favorite model was built on a kitchen table, setting up / breaking down every evening, storing it all in top of the refrigerator so little hands wouldn’t find it! Where there a will, there’s a way!
  9. Here’s a little piece I own that I just came across the photos, so I thought I’d share. My Uncle Dan built this when he was young, probably in 1920-30s. I retrieved it while cleaning out his house after he died. All fashioned from odd bits, there’s a fisherman on the dock, his boat and don’t miss his dog! All made in the base of an old tin can. It shows that creative people made things way before there were kits. A bit of my family legacy and maybe even folk art. It’s in one of my display cases today.
  10. No, my comments weren’t aimed at you. My response was to Mark’s comment I quoted.
  11. Quick trip to HL this afternoon since it’s 40% off week! I don’t have to open the kits since they’re duplicates, but I got them for anticipated projects. I want to do a Landy pickup. The Shelby kit I had got parted out, the chassis etc is under my Falcon Stocker and I got the idea that I want to add a Mustang stocker to the set! Also needed Testors Flat Black and Dullcote, my go to staples on nearly every project. I also got back up glue, because if I have a new one, the near empty old one will last forever.. but if I didn’t have one, I’d run out on a Sunday!
  12. Yes, the greedy trophy hounds ruin it for everyone! The box stock classes were designed for newer modelers to get experience. Same with a guy who builds at the quality of this board, and goes to his local hobby shop contest and wins all the awards! Big fish, little pond! And all they have accomplished is to turn off new modelers and kids to entering shows!
  13. I think it looks great just the way it is. I’d leave it intact. It’s a testament to where your hobby was back then.
  14. You sound like a candidate for an indoor spray booth! I don’t know your available space situation, but a Pace Peacemaker 24” wide booth would help a great deal. It vents to outdoors and I use mine with spray cans. Better paints help also. I use Tamiya and Duplicolor auto sprays. I’ve also had decent results with Testors Extreme Lacquer.
  15. Probably the oddest cover of “Sweet Child of Mine” ! Oddly works though!
  16. Darker colors make the trim pop!
