  1. Looks good cleaned up, and I really like that red. Stylists seemed to be groping about quite a bit for 58 models by all the US car makers!
  2. Amazing how much the red stripe adds to those wheels! Nice build.
  3. I agree on your points about the stance; you're almost there! Pretty attractive wheel choice, too. I remember fondly some of the 80s hot rod aesthetic, and a clean, monochromatic paint scheme on a shaved body can really make a statement. I would add that blacking out the remaining chrome trim was a popular "euro" look over here as well. By all means, smoke the the rear windows, and paint the engine block/heads the color of the car!
  4. Would absolutely LOVE to see that '82 Celica re-released. I never got one. Anyone have kit pics? (sprue shots and/or built-ups)
  5. I've built the Lindberg '61 Impala drag car, (LOTS of decals!) and never had problem one with them. They handled quite well, in fact, and snuggled down with the clear carrier being almost invisible. I'd chalk your problem up to either age of decal sheet, or some prior exposure to excessive humidity/moisture/heat.
  6. Man, that engine put it out of the ballpark for me; VERY cool. It is the focal point of the build.
  7. Pretty 'vette! Nicely modeled.
  8. Nice monochromatic scheme, really beautiful blues.
  9. Well done!
  10. Great looking car, great looking model. Those old Monogram kits are fun for sure; look at the parts in the box and you might think it plain or ovr-simplified, but built right and detailed with paint they really impress! This one, I always felt, was one of their best efforts in their 1/24 line.
  11. Always liked Krylon 53565 Semi-flat Black. Nice sheen.
  12. Good luck! That HB kit looks very nicely detailed for 1/72!
  13. A really cool dad thing you did there, twice!
  14. Yeah, FE stood for Ford-Edsel, to differentiate its castings from the MEL production engines (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln)
  15. Off to a nice start. Wicked machine.
  16. When you have as nice a wood grain painting technique as you do, why bother with decals? Your paint will age much better than any decal, and each models is unique. (no repeated pattern! )
  17. What a cool bike; I've never seen one!
  18. Beautiful shade of blue!
  19. Glad to see you back on this! This is one of the most attractive 50s bodies from any of the big three.
  20. Ha! There's really no bad choices there, it's a nice body style that can wear many colors well! I think that silver would be mighty fetching on it, but that's my taste. I notice your reference pics favor a black vinyl top... Looking forward to more progress on this one.
  21. Interesting appearance to the dual stick setup. Love that red interior with chrome!
  22. Great work, very well considered and executed. Loving this very informative thread! What shade of red will you be painting this beauty??
  23. Sounds like you are doing everything right, so don't sweat it. Keep using common sense, quit scaring yourself, and you'll get through. Remember Churchill's words about fear... Hang in there, and build a model!
