Revell '57 Chevy Black Widow questionespo replied to TonyK's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers Have you looked thru the parts in the box yet to verify that everything is there? I'll mention a bit of trivia that may or may or may not apply to your kit. As I recall the second reissue of the Black Widow kit had a parts issue. Somehow the Bel Air trimmed two door body got put in instead of the 150 body. When Revelle realized the problem, they bought back all of the models from the hobby shops. I happened to be at my local shop when all this was happening, and I was looking for another Black Widow kit to build. The owner was telling me about the issue and the kit I wanted had the wrong body in it. He went ahead and sold it to me for what the return price would have been for him. I wish I could remember what the car numbers were on the box, but it was some time ago and the boxes are gone. This is why I'm mentioning if you have inventoried what's in the box. Maybe, and only maybe, you may have found one of the kits with the wrong body. In my case everything in the box was the same as the first issue but had the Bel Air body instead of the 150 body.

I actually like the tires, and depending on how they fit within the fenders I may substitute something a little narrower.

review of '57 T-Bird, 1/25 scale, w/ photosespo replied to fiatboy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews I like the subject and would welcome a nicely tool one. I built the original way back when, and that experiance has kept me from doing one ever since. Would seem that the tooling has not been improved in the reissue, shame.

Beautiful looking diorama. Like the "land scaping" with the mower lines around the cars. The vegetation is all realistic looking.
-
Great looking suspension. I noticed what looks like a frame cross member with a center section removed and a couple of knee braces added. What's your plan on that?

You would brace yourself with your feet on the "Toe Board" against the back of the fire Wall.

Like the interior. I have also built a couple of these, and the Plymouth Belvedere 1 is my favorite. They seem to have a great parts fitment.

At these prices it would be worthwhile to pick up a kit for just a few parts that may be needed for a future build.

how-to strip paint from "Shapeways" printed partsespo replied to fiatboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers Based on a past experience I would discourage anyone from using the Purple Pond striper. I lost a resin body that way, sort of turned it into a soft putty image of itself. Not knowing what type of resin was used I can't say this would always happen.

Revell '77 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Opinionsespo replied to ranma's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers While these cars would be considered a gas hog by today's standards, they weren't that bad at the time. As for engine availability, that varied from year to year and delivered locals and local smog restrictions, which were partly to blame for the gas milage issues. Engines I recall for the '73 thru '79 model years included: 350 - 400 small blocks and 454 big blocks. There may well have been the smaller 265 and 305 offered in some regions.

Most of the Food Trucks around here anymore seem to specialize in unique foods at parties or events. In the old days, the ones that would drive thru business and work sites throughout the day where called "Roach Coaches" for a reason.

1958 Woman of the Year, or the unwanted '57 Chevyespo replied to ChrisBcritter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge While extreme to say the least, not all together uncommon to have a disgruntled customer. She did sign or initial the contract in 14 places according to the article. Pretty hard for her to say she didn't realize the number of payments or what she was paying for the new car. Depending on the circumstances the dealer might have been wiser to have worked out something with the customer that would be equitable for both of them. Wonder what the final outcome was of the lawsuits and what happened to the '57 Chevy.

1955 Chevy Cameo Goofy Pickupespo replied to Zippi's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Beautiful looking paint color and finish. The oversized look of wheels and tires plus the engine give it sort of a Tonka Toy look, but in a very good way.

Like the exterior and interior color combination. Clean looking trim and engine.

Bronco finished!espo replied to BDSchindler's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial All of your extra detailing on this build really stands out. Great looking interior and engine detailing. The chrome wheels and slightly larger tires look good.

Great looking pair of Fords. Like the colors and the covered rear seat area idea.
-
Rich looking color. Like the wires and wide white walls.
-
I agree with Carl on the paint color. Looks better than what the factory offered when new.

The Mobius kits and the Hudson you're building are great kits and I think well worth a small premium based on the fit and finish they offer. I built the hardtop twin to this kit and was impressed with the fine details on the small engine and chassis parts in the kit.
-
Cleanly detailed body and chassis painting.
-
Great looking engine detailing. The interior panels look good, and I like the wheel and brake design.

I also found the model isle moved during my last visit to HL in Overland Park Ks. This may be a companywide thing where they are rearranging how items are displayed.

Revell '77 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Opinionsespo replied to ranma's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers I like the cleaner look without the vinyl roofs on this and most hardtops in general. Either it's a convertible or it's not.

1965 El Camino Convertibleespo replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars) Well Round 2 has reissued the '65 El Camino enough times they are pretty inexpensive at swap meets and the same with the Hull Riser boat.

I thought the Big Island had some fires on the west side.
