  1. That old "Rabbit Hole" just keeps getting bigger and bigger doesn't it.
  2. With LS power no less. Going to be nice when you're finished.
  3. I was actually thinking that this might be about something more salacious than trailer fenders.
  4. Thanks, I'm fond of it as well. The color is Phoenician Yellow by Model Masters straight from the can. I was trying to simulate a paint option that Chevrolet offered that year. The package had a matching interior and was only on the Impala line. The only reason I knew of it was that a friend's parents had an Impala with the package. Don't know if they did it on a convertible but in my world, why not.
  5. Where we used to live, near Sacramento, the area was at one time grazing land and had recently become new home development. What happens is the building starts to displace the natural wildlife including those wonderful little critters, the Racoons. Our neighbor across the street backed up to a little creek that ran behind his property. Sort of a Racoon paradise of sorts. They had a small dog and had put a doggy door for him to use the back yard or hang out in the garage depending on weather while they were both at work. They go away for a week somewhere and board their dog but forget to lock the doggy door. Well, the Racoons got into the garage and had almost gotten through the door to the inside by the time they got home. The inside of their garage looked just like the scene from the old homeowner's insurance TV ad.
  6. Like the Patina look on both the truck and the convertible.
  7. Like the way the Candy Red turned out. Never would have thought of doing it over the Orange, but it obviously looks great in the pictures.
  8. Beautiful looking paint finish and color. The trim looks just like the real car in the photo. I'm a fan of the color you used as well. They also had a color called Flaming Orange that is a little darker. Tamiya has a color called Metallic Orange TS-92 that is very close a readily available.
  9. Sounds like a great adventure. You can tell the locals in the pictures, they're the ones covered up without a sunburn.
  10. Let's just say it's more than my wife realizes and more than I'll ever be able to build in what's let of this lifetime.
  11. Yes and no. The delivery drivers around here just leave the package on the top of the front steps and don't rig the doorbell or anything else to alert you that you have a package. At least they seem to through it under hand since the damage seems to be minimal. Since we don't come and go through the front door we don't know if anything is there until we go online and check the tracking and find out it was delivered. Anything on our front steps is clearly visible from the street.
  12. Watch what you wish for with squirrels. They are very athletic and capable of moving thru the trees in a way that would make monkeys envious. At our former home we had several mature trees in the back yard and after a few years a brown squirrel and a gray squirrel appeared in our yard. They were constantly raiding the bird feeders and running the birds off. They used to like to jump on the roof of the house and run around. The sound didn't bother me so much since I realized what it was from, my fear was that they were trying to get into the attic and a neighbor had a lot of electrical damage when a family of squirrels made a nest in their attic one winter. We used to call them "Tree Rats".
  13. Beautiful looking color and paint finish. The chrome trim and vinyl roof are all cleanly done. I like what looks like OEM wheels but in a larger diameter. Modern touches on a classic muscle car.
  14. Since you're in Texas you might research the way that Texas painted their cars in that era.
  15. You mention the black plastic on the bumpers. Wonder if this has to do with the chroming proses, much like the base coat for chrome spray paints. Are you thinking of adding the '54 model year side trim or leave the body sides smooth? Have you finalized the front wheel well openings? Maybe consider a shape that reflects the shape of the rear wheel well opening. Like the concept and the interior should really look good.
  16. Great level of detailing on each and every build. Remember following the red Thunderbird build.
  17. Beautiful looking build. The paint finishes and the clean trim detailing all look very realistic. Since this is a 1:1 car I have coveted since I first saw one, I should find one of these kits also.
  18. All this talk about the Chevrolet 6 cylinder does bring back some memories, mostly having to do with its reliability as long as you didn't try over revving the engine all the time like it was a Formula I car or something. The basic reason for all the oil leakage isn't necessarily that there is anything wrong with the engine so much as the type of gaskets being used at that time. The Valve Cover, Side Push Rod Cover, and the Oil Pan all used a cork-based gasket, and it would dry out and crack with age. Most owners would just tighten the screws holding the "Tin" panels and this would actually cause the gasket to crack even more and even move out of the grove in the panel designed to hold the gasket in place. One old timer told me to soak the cork gaskets in water and then apply lube grease to them before installing new gaskets. This seemed to work for a time, but the gaskets would seem to dry out from the engine heat, I think. When they started offering a form of rubber gaskets the problem with leaks all but went away. You still had to resist over tightening the screws that attached the panels since overtightening would again distort the gasket and allow leakage.
  19. Great looking color and it shows the body lines well. Clean looking detailing on the trim and the engine.
  20. Beautiful looking Ford. The paint combination looks great with the side trim. The engine detailing and underside of the hood look great. This trim level wasn't that common in the areas that I have lived in and that may be why I find it so interesting. In the past I have owned two different '57 Fords back when they were just nice old cars, but always liked how they looked and ran.
  21. I can see now how you got the idea. Obviously, there are some very lax safety concerns, my hope is that the driver isn't also a smoker, or he could become a smoked. I am enjoying your build anyway.
  22. Beautiful looking paint color and finish. Recall seeing a few when new in a very similar color. Great attention to detail on the interior and chassis.
  23. I know it's just a model but, usually fuel cells would be in a secured area away from the driver for safety reasons.
  24. Beautiful paint color and finish. The front bumper on this kit does stick out further than it should, be it still looks good. The chrome trim is cleanly done and looks correct for the 210 model. Like the stans.
