Great job on the roof conversion on the Galaxie. Both models have great looking paint finishes and trim.
-
Both are great looking builds. Beautiful paint work and clean looking trim. Always interesting to see how and what was marketed elsewhere in the world.

You really captured the look of the era. The body-colored vinyl roofs were a common styling trend at the time. The Silver color with the dark red interior was also considered desirable at the time. I think the even offered wire wheel hub caps as well. The trim is all cleanly done and the paint finish looks great.

With the color on the body, it looks more and more like the photos. The body work looks really smooth and it's hard to tell what all went into creating this body.

That line looks like the self-serve checkout line here locally. The people seem to get distracted looking at themselves on the monitor in the checkout screen.

What are the very best drag racing model kits of all time?
espo replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
While far from being the best, when this kit was first issued in the last century it had a drag option and could be made very convincing. This is a build from 2012. -
Great looking Subaru, and I like the theme as a support vehicle.
-
Great job detailing the paint finish. The dusty interior helps to shop the seat pattern. These old kits would build up well despite the lack of fine details.
-
Beautiful looking Charger. Like colors in this range and the finish on the paint is great. Very cleanly built.
-
Great looking Woody. The paint color and finish look nice and smooth. I like the stance. The sunset pictures start looking very real.

Finally got the foil work done. Had a big disaster while doing a little detailing to the foil on the trunk lid. I used some black panel line paint to make the lettering standout on the rear trim part. I didn't have the lid tight when I went to put away the panel line paint jar and it slipped out of my hand and dumped a large puddle of the black paint on my work surface and much of the rear suspension and the slicks. After cussing a blue streak, I did get lucky as the cutting board I use stopped the fluid from spreading too far. Stinky stuff to mop up.

Good idea to fill this under hood score line. I have had a few where I didn't do that and even with extensive paint prep it will sometime ghost through the final paint finish.

Well it’s finally announced.?

As an expat I feal your pain and frustration with the powers which you didn't even get to elect. -
Please post your build on the Audi RS6 Avant when the time comes. I personally like this and BMW's M Long roofs.

Depending on what type of metal you are trying to represent and any oxidation on the finish. I use Tamiya paints for the most part and they offer a few spray paints that may work depending on what you're trying to represent. Their TS-17 is a Gloss Aluminum and TS-42 is a Light Gun Metal. These are a gloss finish, but a light spray of Flat or Semi-Gloss may give you the finish you're after. They also offer a color called Bare Metal, but I'm out and don't have the paint number. For brush paints I have used their XF-16 Flat Aluminum and XF-56 Flat Metallic Gray. This is but a few and suggest checking their Military Colors as well.

Another Decal Question….after I’ve screwed it up!
espo replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
While it's only my opinion, I like the white stripes better than the black ones on this color, a little less Halloween looking. -
Hope someone takes some pictures to share.

What are the very best drag racing model kits of all time?
espo replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
A couple of kits I think that could be considered, are the Revell Thunder Bolt kits for the FX builder. and the Round 2 reissue of the "Lawman" '64 Plymouth Belvidere hard top. Moebius Models has done some interesting offerings as well. -

Great looking paint finish. I like how you upgraded the interior. -
Great looking PD Car, you would never know this wasn't a sedan kit to start with.

1952 Hudson Hornet Convertible two-tone (1/25 Moebius)
espo replied to e30lover's topic in Model Cars
Beautiful looking paint finish and I like the subtle two-tone effect. The lighting in your photography really shows the body curves well. Great looking interior detail and the darker coloring of the woodwork looks good. -
Looking at the finished model you would never know the issues you described. The paint looks great, and the trim all looks good as well.
-
What kind of paint did you use? Looks like a white primer under the body color.

I was doing some paint detailing on the trunk trim on a build I'm working on. I was sure the lid was screwed back on tight on the Tamiya Panel Line bottle. I went to put the bottle away and it slipped out of my hand and the top wasn't on as I thought. Spilled half a bottle of the panel line paint on my work surface, part of the chassis I was working on, the rear leaf springs and shocks, the rear slicks, and a few other small parts laying on the surface. I use a plastic kitchen style cutting board for a work surface, so it caught most of the runoff as it has a little trough running around the outer edge. The obscenities ensued; my wife called down to see if she needed to call an ambulance since she was sure I had somehow injured myself. I assured I would live but that I would be unpleasant to be around till I got everything cleaned up.

I like the bully bar you created for the Samurai. Always fun to build a model of owned vehicles from the past, and hopefully some pleasant memories came to mind.
