  1. I thought of the red "Farm Truck" as well. Great job on this dump truck. I think GM built more dark green commercial units at that time than all the other manufacturers combined.
  2. As for primers, the lighter colors like white will often give the color coat a brighter look. This can depend on the paint used as a color coat. You might test on a spoon using Tamiya pink primer as that is supposed to give a red color more depth.
  3. Reminds me of when I was thick of hair and thin of waist, as opposed to now.
  4. Great gift. Take it from a former resident of the Golden State, consider strapping that big boy to the wall.
  5. I agree, that's a great looking paint job and I like the color, it reminds me of a '67 El Camino I owned years ago. The custom body parts blend well with the body lines. So, this is going tobe a slot car?
  6. Great looking paint finish and the RR stripes look good on this.
  7. Great looking 4X4. I like how the upgraded wheels and tires look on this.
  8. I like the finishes and the OEM look. Amazing seeing the difference from the hot rods we become accustomed to seeing.
  9. I agree, but you know sometimes you do with what you have and what you know. Like my father used to tell me, a lot it seems. "You're too soon old and to later smart".
  10. Can't offer any help on the aftermarket steering wheel, but the rear springs are a poor man's traction masters. In days of old the factory leaf springs would often wrap up under hard acceleration. This would happen for a moment and the rear tires would hop up and down as the springs would wrap up and then straighten back out and if not stopped could cause a lot of damage to the suspension and the rear end not to mention U-joints. These helper leaf springs were originally designed to help to increase the carrying load of the rear suspension. One of the side effects was that it would stiffen the spring and help minimalize the rear spring wrap up. A better system was to have a bar from the frame or even the front spring mount that would extend to the bottom the differential and spring mount.
  11. They may need to be checked for what they call around here "Impaired Driving". Sounds like either drink, smoke, or Rx may have been involved. Yesterday we had some good rain in a lead up to a little snow last night. So, I'm driving home on a three lane hiway, three lanes in each direction. 70 mph area with a medium to heavy traffic flow around the start of the evening rush hour. For some unknown reason the slowest lane is the center lane. There are several eighteen wheelers going 65 + in and out of the right-hand lanes and another that is sitting in the fast lane and will not move over for anybody. The center lane opens up for a minute and a guy in a lifted 4X4 goes for it and I follow. That's when the left lane sitter decides we're going to race. I put my foot down on my Charger and had just enough room between the back of the 4X4 and the closing big rig to get into the fast lane. After that I look back and there's all kinds of open hiway behind me and there is solid wall of big rigs blocking all three lanes and the traffic is backing up behind them. Where's a Highway Patrol when you need one.
  12. Ideally the pup should be put in a "mom and litter" situation. The older dog or even dogs will straighten out the pup's behavior much faster and more naturally than a human can. A lot will depend on the dog's breed and even then, they will have their own personalities.
  13. Can't help but smile looking at this. I like the short wheelbase design. The grill and headlights look like what someone would do on a custom build and cleans up the appearance of the front end.
  14. This looks great. I'm used to seeing models and 1:1 built as full Fender'd so this is a good change. Your model has a great looking paint finish, and the dark blue looks good.
  15. Both great looking. Nice to see them built as a hardtop and a convertible side by side.
  16. Well weathered looking finishes. The headers remind me of some years ago I might of hand a hand in. You can only do so much with acetylene and coat hangers. The finish on the top insert looks good as well.
  17. Great looking chopped top. I like the color and the paint finish. I'm a big fan of the five spoke wheels like the 1:1 but the painted steel wheels you used gives this a tougher look.
  18. GM offered a "Fleet White" on commercial vehicles and the Ford color is very close. Consider Tamiya TS-26 Pure White if you go that way.
  19. IO have been using Model Master Liquid Cement for many years as my main go to. I was recently in need of a new supply and decided to try thew new Revell products. Their Contacta Professional is very similar to the Model Master I had been using but the applicator seems to work better for me. Their Contacta Clear also works well. I mention these as an alternative to be considered if you are unable to find the glue you are looking for.
  20. great looking paint finish.
  21. Something that caught my eye looking at the pictures of the instructions. They show a Tonneau Cover to go over the rear seat area. Depending on where you are from, that was something that was popular in the late '50's so I was a little surprised to see it in a mid '60's car.
  22. I like all the creative extras you're adding.
  23. Great idea lighting the interior.
  24. That wing is wide enough he should have clearance lights on it.
  25. I picked up inexpensive feather duster at Bed Bath & Beyond that is really soft for dusting.
