  1. AMT used to offer one in some of its kits back when they were still using metal axles that passed thru the engines.
  2. One thing I would add on treating the derided Orange Peel. When it first appears stop applying paint. Let the paint fully dry and then start some light color sanding. Depending on how bad it is this is when you consider, do I sand the object smooth and apply another coat or is it time for the "purple pond". Appling additional coats of paint in hopes that it well somehow level its surface is just going to make the paint thicker and will not stop the orange peel. Additional coats of clear has the same effect as too many coats of paint that has an orange peel finish. I build on a cool basement, temperature wise, and have found that warming the paint before applying and holding the spray can or air brush close to the item you're spraying. Spraying paint at too far away allows the paint to start to dry in the air and is to dry when it lands on the object you're painting to dry smoothly. I would suggest practicing different painting methods on an old body or plastic spoon till you find a way that works for you.
  3. I like the showroom appearance. Great paint and color.
  4. Clean Machine. I'm finding the full-size vehicles built in this style interesting and this build captures the style perfectly. Very clean presentation.
  5. Beautiful looking paint color and finish. I like the attitude and the stance. The blue earlier build looks just as nice.
  6. Great looking finishes inside and out. Very realistic looking.
  7. Beautiful looking paint treatments.
  8. Glad to see you're getting back to this build.
  9. Great looking Nomad. You should enjoy that Chevelle kit.

    2021 Builds

Beautiful looking builds. I like your clean well detailed build style. You said you were new to this, but I can tell you were building something else before.
  11. A light touch of Tamiya line accent paint goes a long way to tone down the toy type chrome on some wheels. They offer black along with other colors and have their own brush under the cap. Works good on body seems as well.
  12. Sad for your loss but love the sense of humor.
  13. I'm not that big of a Beer drinker as I once was. The last mass market type Beer that I would drink, and usually have in the frig. in the summer months is out of Colorado called Fat Tire easily spotted by the bicycle tire on the label. Lately I have been getting Beer from a local micro-brewery from Lawrence Kansas called Free State. I don't know if it is found beyond the local area but if you like some full-bodied brews, you should give them a try. The best experience is their restaurant in Lawrence as they offer several styles of Beer.
  14. Sometimes the box art can put you off when you're looking for a curtain type of body style.
  15. I'm liking the green color the more I look at it. Didn't think that would happen, but sometimes you just have to see something to appreciate it.
  16. The Iron Lady and the other '32 Vicky kits were of the Victoria body style. The AMT T133 kit and all of the reissues were of what Ford called the Tudoor body style. The main difference has to do with the way the rear of the body is shaped. That said they both are great looking body styles for the '32 and deserve our building attention.
  17. As for a new tool kit I would like to see some mid 1950's and later Oldsmobile and Pontiacs. The '57's thru '66 ideally.
  18. Very creative looking body styles. The T-Bird Wagon looks like it should have been a production option.
  19. Like the seat colors.
  20. The body and interior look great. You mentioned not being happy with the way the rear tires are lining up in the wheel wells. With the front tires looking like they are centered moving the chassis may upset their position. The rear leaf spring mount to little notches in the frame on this model. Maybe a small adjustment on where the rear springs are mounted would give you the rear tire placement, you're after.
  21. Sometimes you have to wonder how in the ... they got there.
  22. I have used a Model Maker brand compressor for several years and have no complaints. The specs are Model #CP101, 1/8 hp, .90 air displacement with 50 psi max air pressure. Everyone else's compressor sound almost exotic or industrial compared to the unit I have. Mine is the only one I have ever used so it is hard to say what would work best or better. The brand label is a peel and stick affair which leads me to think this is sold under many different name brands. The features I think you would want to consider is the ability to adjust the air pressure and a gauge by which you can tell just how much pressure you are using. A water trap should also be inline. I think if you find something with these features at a minimum you would be happy with the results.
  23. Except for an accessional decal here and there I just use Tamiya paints. As for thinning, I'll sometimes put just a dash of paint in a pill type plastic cup and add a little water as needed. I will also outline the character lines using a #11 blade on the interior where I want the paint to stop. This gives a nice clean break between two different colors on the interior.
  24. Thank you for the better understanding of what I'm seeing. Now this makes sense.
  25. Depending on the style you're going for I would agree. I would also detail the lug nut area on the wheel as this can add a lot of depth to their appearance.
