  1. I agree with everyone else on the color, it really looks perfect with the mild customizing parts used hear. Very cleanly done trim.
  2. Great looking finish and the use of different color shades on the chassis and engine add a great deal to the overall look. The mirrors, maybe switch them from side to side depending on how you mounted them.
  3. Great looking Impala. The color is a great match for one of the popular colors Chevrolet offered in '63 and the finish looks very smooth. Considering the basic chassis plate the kit has your detail painting looks good as well.
  4. Great looking build. I like the theme of the Mod Squad. The patina paint work looks good without any rust thru or wood rot.
  5. I had an old sage tell me years ago to approach each segment, IE the engine or interior, as if that was a model within it's self. It can take several builds to find your comfort zone in each area of a build. I like to follow what other builders are doing even if the subject is not what I'm really interested in, but you still learn a lot by watching others and seeing how they over come problems or how the do different techniques.
  6. NASCAR has for decades been racing on pavement only, but when starting just after WW 2 most if not all of the race tracks were dirt. The original Dayton race was run on the beach with a return on the two lane blacktop road. I also find it interesting that they have added a dirt race to the schedule this year.
  7. Consider the clay bar treatment before going after the paint with steel wool. This can be a lot of manual labor but from the photo the paint just looks lightly oxidized and should clean up nicely. In the photo it looks like there is still some sheen now.
  8. Unusual looking paint finish. Looks as if it has different colors in it depending on the light.
  9. Stunning looking build details and the photography as well. In the late '60's the owner of San Bernardino Racing Equipment in San Bernardino Ca. bought a black Miura and would drive by where I was working at the time on his way to work. I could hear his car even when he was out of sight. He would go thru the gears and you could hear the change in the RPM at each stage until he would finally floor it. The final range of the RPM scale was more of a shrike like a Formula 1 car under full song and it could make the heir on the back of your neck stand on end even though he was a block or more down the road. Always looked forward to hearing his morning commute.
  10. Now that's funny. My remark on driving and taking pictures is based on my inability to walk and chew gum at the same time.
  11. The paint work looks great. The engine detail painting gives this a very realistic look. I recall seeing the Buick show car in the Chicago Auto Show as a child. Looking at this picture the thing that catches my eye now is thinking about the time frame of this show car and thinking about the Corvette when they started going to the current hood and fenders opening together. I know the current design is hinged in the front rather than the rear but the overall design done in the early '50's was really futuristic at the time.
  12. Beautiful looking build and even with the 3/4 inch stretch you didn't lose the body proportions and that isn't easy. The chassis has a great lightly used look. The bed cover looks very realistic.
  13. Great looking build and I like the stock style build. Paint looks very nice as does the chassis details. These were an interesting 1:1 car and not fully appreciated by most at the time.
  14. I admit to wondering about your color choice when you started on this build but looking at it finished I like it better than most I've seen. The stance really looks good with the style of wheels you used. The interior looks great and after overcoming the fitment problems it looks clean.

Great looking Camaro. I like the cleaner look without the strips.

I enjoyed watching you overcome every obstacle this build offered. Great looking details on the engine as well as the interior. Great job blending todays color and trim style with the early body design.
  17. Great looking Chevelle and I like the back story about your wife's friend. The color matched spark plug wires were somewhat in vogue at that time. I like the little touches with the big rear deck speakers and your treatment of the chassis area.
  18. Man this one brings back some memories. The great looking color looks like something from Ford's original colors. The red wheels and wide whites look perfect with the stance. I would like to know what all you did to the suspension ? Did you split the "wish bones" or go with an independent front suspension ?
  19. Great looking Galaxy. Always fun to build a model of a car or truck you owned at one time, a the fond memories come to mind as you're build. These were good cruisers .
  20. Beautiful looking paint finish and the trim is all done so cleanly. Even with two sets of the fender chrome in the kit I built I could never get them to look even close to this. The interior looks great as well.
  21. Look forward to watching your build on this .
  22. Thanks for the info. The thing that strikes me as being odd was that the NHRA inspection got upset about the concrete in the spare but ran this in a stock class with a non stock turbo charger.
  23. I know sightings without pictures can be questionable but if you're driving sometimes it's best to observe and drive. Sunday taking the wife's car to the car wash there was what looked like an old wrecker in the lane next to me up ahead. As I got closer it turned out that the wrecker bed and boom were on a trailer behind a late model CK3500 dually GM flatbed. The new rig looked well cared fore but the wrecker looked wrecked. Maybe a good bases for a diorama.
  24. I like the engine room panels. They passenger side looks like it may conflict with the headers but I realize this is just a mockup at this point.
  25. To expand on Snakes suggestion of using TS-60 Pearl Green this is a Ranchero that I used that color on. Hope this gives you an idea of what it may look like.
