  1. Reminds me of the old tail of the Tortoise and the hair.
  2. Just so happens I'm in the middle of building this kit now. The first thing I noticed in the mockup was that the floor pan part # 61 has a groove toward the fire wall area that the Frame sets down into. This is near the front mounting holes in the floor pan. In my kit they were just ever so off and the frame wouldn't set in like it should. In my case I just cut away a little material from the outer edge of the groove and then the frame fit fine. Since the firewall area seems to be a problem for you maybe check this area first since the firewall area is all built up from this area. The kit use's more body parts than most kits, but I think this is to make it as correct as possible, and trial fittings are a must. I have mocked up the body several times and not had the problems you mentioned.

    '69 Nova

The reason I was thinking that they may of come from a different Camaro kit is that Revell has offered so many different versions of their '69 Camaro it can be hard to tell. The kit has been offered at different times as a Z-28 and many different versions of big block engines. The blue exhaust in your picture was an optional factory exhaust that Chevrolet offered, I think they called it a Chambered Exhaust System. For kit building these would be very desirable, in 1:1 applications they were just short of straight pipes and were pretty much illegal everywhere. Anyway that was just my thought on these parts.
  4. Relooking at the chrome tree I see what you mentioned. My thought is that at some future date they may even reissue the basic kit but with the option of building it with or without the RS trim. I think that this would be a good marketing idea since they wouldn't have to worry about a shopper not buying one over the other and they would only have to stock one kit going further. My be wishful thinking on my part, but it makes since to me.
  5. Thanks for the info. I was going to buy one anyway, but this removes all doubts about what the kit is. I did notice on the chrome trees a couple of iteams that were closed off so you have to wonder what else might be coming in the future.
  6. Great looking Jeep truck. I like that you went with the original theme with your build.
  7. Looks great and reminds me of one here in town. Rust would never sleep with these trucks and the lower corner of the cabs are bad also. You really captured the look of a used up old truck with this.
  8. That is one serious Roll Bar setup. Very clean looking build. Excellent paint work and I like all the after market goodies you added.

    64 GTO

Great looking color and finish. I like how you did the carb. linkage.
  10. Great looking build. I like how you turned it into a roadster. The chopped top version that Revell came up with was just unrealistic looking and the reason I never bought one. I should have and did something like this.
  11. Beautiful looking '67. The tail lights look much like the Pontiac Tempest of that time. I always liked the 15x8 Corvette Rally Wheels also.
  12. Nice engine and interior so far.
  13. This was a very advanced kit when it was first released. While it is not as well done as the newer Revell release it still builds an excellent '49 Mercury. I used to rob the flathead parts from these kits for my other Ford projects. So what engine are you going to use ??

    '69 Nova

The moth should have been wearing his seat belt. Looks like an interesting project. I'm wondering about the orange colored suspension and exhaust. Were these parts panted or from maybe a Camaro kit issued in orange ?
  15. Great to see one of these getting a lot more detail.
  16. I like your Hurst style paint scheme.
  17. I like the little '56 better. The primer and chrome wheels is about as far as many of my cars got way back when all I could afford was a couple of cans of Krylon.
  18. Interesting to see just how basic the spectator areas and the lack of garages that came a few years later. I used to work for Union Oil Company and my day job as it were was at the Colton Distribution Center a few miles away. I would work for Union Oil at the track during many of the races including the Stock Cars. This was a time when Pure Oil and Union Oil were in a merger and since Pure was the fuel supplier on the eastern seaboard Union Oil became the supplier for the west coast. I worked at the Union Oil station in the pits area suppling the fuel to the race teams. In the summer of '69 there were several rows of garages and a larger Union 76 station that wasn't there at the time of this movie. Several grand stands and restroom facilities were added for spectators along with a large media building and much more. When these pictures were taken the pits look like little more than a dirt area with possibly some pavement. The only way I can tell is that I know were the garages were built around the starting line and behind the pit wall. As Deuces II mentioned some of the cars arriving on two axle trailers towed by pick up trucks. Many of the drivers and team owners, not including Gurney for sure, were area short track teams and often this was their first time to get into "the big show". I would wager more than one of the those west coast cars even had GMAC payment books. These cars were far closer to what was on the showroom floor than what we see be raced today. No special steering or brakes and they had to carry a manufactures part number. They were the kings at fudging things but this was real driver skills and endurance to last 500 miles.

    59 Impala

Beautiful looking Impala. Very accurate looking interior. Shame about the white walls. I have built several of these and others from that era and haven't had any issues with them.
  20. This should be interesting to watch.
  21. Great looking interior.
  22. I like the sleek lines of this build and the colors work well together. This would have been a real "sleeper" in it's day. All of the hi performance options that Ford offered on their full size models could be had on the Mercury also.
  23. Those tail lights look like they belong on a semi or something far bigger than a pick up. To bad about the damage it caused to the tail gate.
  24. This is going to be a very nice looking street rod. I like the way you pulled bits and pieces from here and there and it all just looks like that's the way it always was. Perfect color selection to show the body lines.
  25. Very cool looking little truck. I can see this being done in 1:1 but it would never have the level of finish seen here. I remember your trailer build, that is special also.
