  1. Interesting to see that Mercedes is going with an inline 6 program. A lot of money and R & D had to go into the development of this engine. BMW has in the last couple of years also has developed inline 6's again. One of the biggest inherit advantage to the inline engine is the smooth power delivery. One of the past problems was even fuel distribution, but with modern Fuel Injection systems I don't see where that would be a problem any longer.
  2. I have to agree with everyone else on the desirability of a Pontiac El Camino. I also saw where someone was auctioning an Oldsmobile conversion using a 442 trim. I think it was on Mecum earlier this year. While we all think that would be neat to have today, you have to wonder just how well it would have sold when the different manufactures divisions passed on the idea.
  3. I agree on the shrink wrap for the chain, it gives it that extra depth of realism. On another note, I'm looking at the picture of the 1:1 truck with the doodlebug cycle in the back. I'm thinking since you live in Kentucky and the Bug is licensed in Kentucky that the California plates on the truck for show only. I know a lot has changed since I left California in 1996, but on the old Black/Yellow plate on the truck would have been for a trailer and not a truck. Truck plates from that era would have had a prefix of a letter and two numbers then a space and three numbers. The left side renewal sticker looks like 1965 and the right side looks like 1970. I see these pop up at swap meets around here sometimes and I know they are considered popular for what ever reason. I have noticed a lot of owners here in Kansas are now getting retro plates from the year that their car was first on the road, I think that is pretty cool thing to do.

    47 Chevy

Great engine and chassis detailing. I like the Mexican Blanket theme, are you going with something other than white for the rest of the interior ?
  5. I would get some Balsa Wood strips. They come in many sizes. Also check any Craft Stores in your area that cater to Doll House builders. They offer some amazing accessories for the garage.
  6. I like the oil filter and the dip stick.
  7. Great looking build so far and I like how you did the bed. The tailgate chain its self looks a bit out of scale. If you have a JoAnns Fabrics or a Hobby Lobby in your area you can check their Jewelry section, or maybe there is a craft store in your area that offers jewelry supplies. I have gotten several chains in different sizes and colored plastic (great tail lights) and even tools.
  8. Make sure your dealing directly with the bank and not some location broker that will get a percentage of your balance. I had something like this only with some stocks a few years ago and it turned out that they were a locater service looking for inactive accounts and charged a big fee to reconnect you with the company whose stocks I had.
  9. The COPO edition of the Nova has those hub caps.
  10. Thanks, it just didn't look right to my untrained eye.
  11. That is way cool, and you even got the same color.
  12. The EPA requiring the Cats. actually helped the performance in a way. An example. I was working at a Chevrolet dealership in '74 when the first '75 models started arriving with the new required smog equipment. The very first car in was a base model Nova coupe with the 350 and automatic transmission. It would blow the doors off the '74 models. Yes there were lean carb settings and retarded spark advances, but if tuned correctly the engine would shut off when you turned off the ignition. Anyone else remember the models prior to '75 models that would sound like a diesel engine when you shut them off. The engine would cough and sputter before it would die. The insurance problems started in the '60's when anything with SS or GTX or any other car that had letters and numbers in its name. Also if you were under 25 they just raised the rates to where you couldn't afford the insurance and High Performance cars of any stripe became harder to sell, and then there was that little "Police Action" in South East Asia, and that is a wholenother can of worms that we will not bring up. The interesting thing with the technology of today we have the average 2.0 liter Turbocharger econobox that would shame many of the old muscle cars and would corner and stop far better plus more than double the gas mileage.

    1975 Torino

Great looking Torino. Nothing like the Earth Tones that the manufactures used in the '70's.
  14. I really like the look of this. The custom grill and lights look right. Something about this era Fords with the Artillery Wheels just looks like that is way the should be.
  15. I enjoy looking at all of the detail work on the interior and chassis. Almost a shame it has to hide under the body. I would love to see the 1:1 inspiration for this build.
  16. Very nice clean looking build. I like that you didn't put a vinyl roof on it they look better without.
  17. Very impressive chassis and body fit. I'm far from an expert on '34's but something about the rear "apron" below the trunk and between the rear fenders looks off. The Resin body looks great but it's as if it was cast as a body without fenders ?
  18. Neat videos. I like the look of the Rivera and agree the front end may use a little clean up. The supports for the Spliter are unavoidable but the grill bars could be changed for the better. I think if he painted the body all one color would also help, and yes it would be a shame to paint over the Carbon Fiber body panels.
  19. In that case that might not be an arm on the hood. With the "wash off paint" that the sell in parts stores now that could just be a Halloween thing.
  20. Thank you for sharing. Great pictures and show how it was when it was.
  21. I like the very aggressive look.
  22. I agree with TarheelRick about the lighter back ground. I like the color combination and it looks very much like an option Chevrolet offered at that time. I think the colors work well together and I like the white interior.

    1960 Corvette

Great looking build. Very classic color combination. You had mentioned the desire to go with white walls, maybe the tires from one of the later Revell kits with the white wall inserts might help.
  24. Excellent body work . Makes one wonder why Mercury didn't offer this body style.
  25. Great looking paint work and I really like the color. Your fender skirts look perfect for the look you are after.
