Just a thought. Weren't there some fictitious models issued in the '60's and '70's based on some of the GM "personal luxury cars" of the era? Could this be a valve cover from one of those models?

The '57 Chevy kit looks to be the second one that AMT offered shortly before the company got sold. The advantage is that it better body and trim proportions than the original AMT '57 Chevy kit. Includes an opening trunk and a highly detailed interior.

Great looking paint work. The stans seems a little different for a front wheel drive car, but like you mentioned, this is what the guy had.

Great color choice and the finish looks great. Clean looking body trim. As you mentioned, this brings you back to 1964. Actually, it was Sept. of 1963 and a guy I knew bought the first '64 Chevelle SS that came into the old Jack Coyle Chevrolet in San Bernardino Ca. He traded in his '63 Impala SS and not much money for a Yellow with Black interior SS that had the 220 hp 283 and 4-speed, that was the hottest setup at the start of production. The 327's didn't appear until later in '64. At the time it would draw far more attention than you might think. Thats my experience along with trying to help keeping rear tires under it.

Like the idea of the extra steps removing the bed from the interior and adding it to the body. The added trim around the top of the bed rails looks far better.

As the saying goes " Looks like it has been ridden hard and put away wet". A term usually referring to a horse though. Realistic looking body damage and rust. May have even been a PD car at one time?

Based on the cross bracing of the frame would lead you to think this is for a convertible and the front suspension sure looks like maybe the Revell '57 Chevrolet Convertible.

I have used some small parts that I stashed away over 20 years ago, just have to find the right project and remember that you have the part somewhere.

Most of the cities in the KC Metro including the little burg I live in use the push bars. I like them since it makes them easier to spot in my rear-view mirror.
