  1. The Revell '68 Mustang has a reasonably accurate chassis and engine compartment. The pics being shown of the conversion are using an AMT 1968 Shelby GT500, which is based off the '68 Mustang annual, with an AMT/ERTL '67 Mustang engine compartment and chassis. If you do go with the Revell kit, try to find the newest issue you can find. Some of the original kits came with 1967 Mustang interior pieces, and it is hard to tell by looking at the box art.
  2. I would have liked to see an earlier Yamaha RD, instead of another RZ250/350. Mind you, I'm still waiting for a Japanese manufacturer to tool a model of a Honda CB/CL350 twin, so maybe this one will convince Hasegawa to do more old bikes.
  3. For most dealerships, it was Dodge-Dodge Truck, and Chrysler-Plymouth-Fargo.
  4. I have a later boxing of this kit by MPC. The only change I made to it, beyond replacement decals, was to cut the nose section from the chassis and glue it to the body.
  5. Should be out for October or November. This boxing is limited to 2500 kits, so place your orders soon!
  6. What about some white letter tires for the Day 2 look? You know, once you had burned off the factory set, you would go down to the parts store and get whatever house brand they had. Some Coopers or Kellys or whatever other brand was popular. I would love to have some Canadian Tire Tornadoes, but I know that's a real niche market!
  7. There have been a number of cars which were painted in different colour combinations. My Comet wagon, also a Canadian-built car, came with a light yellow exterior and a red interior.
  8. Most of the events from Days of Thunder were based on actual events, but then warped out of proportion. The original rental car story was between Curtis Turner and Joe Weatherly, though I'm sure it has been replayed by others over the decades. The meeting between the team owners and the head of NASCAR was based on an incident between Rick Hendrick and another owner. The scene where Cole threatens to crack the other driver over the head to relieve the pressure is (very loosely) based on a conversation between Dr. Jerry Punch and Buddy Baker. Can anyone here add to the list of scenes based on real events? Let's see how many we can come up with!
  9. I still have some of those AMT bottles in my collection, even airbrushed the Violet Fireflake about 20 years ago... Great effect on the bottles! Reminds me of the old craft trick, where you put a penny in a pill bottle and then pop it in the oven. Instant object trapped in amber!
  10. For the Aqua Rod, I wish Round 2 would get away from the SOHC heads and cover, and give us the regular cylinder heads and Interceptor valve covers. Much nicer looking, IMO.
  11. Salvino's and Ford are talking, but it takes time for contracts to go through all the corporate channels. Mustangs could possibly be available before the end of 2022, but I think it would be more likely to see them in the first quarter of 2023.
  12. I wonder if you have the IMC version of this car, because it did have some nicer tires than the AMT ones. Perry's Resin used to offer them (I know this because my copies were the masters), but I don't know if any other casters offered them.
  13. From what I recall reading back in the day, the original Edsel body tool (inc. the fender skirts, but nothing else) was still in the ERTL tooling bank before they started tooling the full-detail kit. I think this information came from an old issue of The ERTL Blueprinter, but I can't remember the exact source.
  14. Check in at the postal sorting facility while you're out there, Bill. Same issues as with the facility at Mississauga-Gateway; probably more kits inside that building than in all the local shops combined!
  15. The chassis for the Streaker kit was shared with the '65 Malibu and '58 Edsel kits. Similar in design to the Nova kit, but different in shape and size.
  16. The side window pieces are configured for the 1973-up Chargers only. Hope this helps!
  17. The stock version was released about a year ago, should be available through most shops which stock Round2 kits.
  18. Had the same issue last night. Thanks for fixing it (touch wood)!
  19. I have had all four versions over the years, and the first two didn't include the multiple short shots and windows which fell through the openings. As fiddly as the original versions were to build, the QC issues of later versions were much worse.
  20. Looks good to me, and totally agree on the updated graphics by Kelly Daniel. Imagine what Tom Daniel could have done if the decal-printing technology of today had been available back in the late 1960s and early 1970s?
  21. X2 on the Focus transmissions. I was going in for a clutch pack replacement every 20-25,000 km with my 2014, and ended up selling it before the extended warranty ran out. I replaced the Focus with a Kia, and haven't had any issues.
  22. I agree about the first two boxings being the kits which inspired me to build the '57 Nomad. The Hot Rod and Skip's Fiesta boxings were uninspiring for me, both in artwork and in the kit contents. As for the Round2 Retro boxes, I like the idea of differentiating between new reissues and ones which came before. Most of the newer releases come with some mold clean-up, as well as better decals, tires, and chrome finish than their older reissues.
  23. It isn't exact, but Gunze Sangyo made a Mk.I Austin Healey Sprite in 1:24. Not identical to the later Midget, but the chassis and main body section are as close as you can find in scale.
  24. Noel, my kit came badged as a Monogram, but it was in the typical Revell AG flat box. According to Scalemates, this version came out in 1991 as kit # 77001. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/monogram-6768-bugatti-35b--266923
  25. Waiting impatiently for this kit, especially after seeing the test shots. Judging by the engine bay shots, the engine is as tight a fit as it was in the 1:1. Changing the spark plugs on the driver's side underneath that cowl brace was a major PITA with my '73 coupe.
