  1. Understood. I don't have a monogram Bird kit to compare ( guess one could call me a scale snob ) Yet I have 3 or 4 Johan Superbird kits .
  2. Not sure I understand this comment. On the 1/1 the ONLY difference between Roadrunner / GTX roof versus a Superbird is the back glass and trim The Bird has a plug in the rear glass to change the shape of the glass itself stock RR / GTX rear glass shape The Bird plug goes right in over top the normal window opening
  3. Having used to own one. Ive always had it in the back of my mind to build a replica of my on ride. And am not having any luck finding anything close to it in scale ,,,any one know of any , in any scale at this point ( pictured is borrowed from the WWW )
  4. Nice, No drag car model collection is complete without a SWC willys. I built this same kit back in the day and have another one to build one for modern times, someday .
  5. Years ago I rode a GSXR750 , and I've heard of this race before but 1st time I've seen any kind of lengthy video of it . Those guys have bigger balls than I ever will. Those guys have much bigger knads than that.
  6. IMO its not so much as accepting sub-par, its about living / dealing with the cards one is dealt. If that happens to be sub-par chassis as you mentioned. then so be it. If the subject is something I like ( neither of these mentioned are ) I will deal with the kit the best I can and move on. I don't do contests, so I build for me and me alone. ( apparently I'm not the only one ) So a super detailed chassis means nothing at least not to me. ..in most cases anyway . Look around the hobby at any show. its not like there is a huge influx of new blood to push the hobby to the next level. So we all have to deal with the kits we have at the level they are or we wish to take them to .
  7. True. and spotting the differences is easy once you know what to look for . And picking up an original just for the interior is not as bad as one might think. I bought an original interior tub over the winter for less than $20 Picked up a glue bomb built original issue, just to get the interior and gave the body away . again right about $20 I did pick up a clean builder original issue 62 convertible this past winter and I think I paid maybe $50- 60 for it ( need to ck my records to be sure ,but it wasn't hateful )

  12. I just bought a spotless Johan 1970 GTX builder in the past 6 months for $85 delivered and darn glad I got it. It was the last one of the Johan Mopar 5 I needed. The Monogram car sticks out like a sore thumb when the rest of your shelf is all 1.25th scale Ive picked up original issue Superbird, 69 Roadrunner and 70 Road Runner in recent years and none were over maybe $40-50 range. My 69 GTX on the other hand ,,,hurt the toy fund pretty good

  14. Does anyone make a resin copy of the rear axle in the AMT 1971 Charger by chance. Gets expensive to buy these kits mainly for the rear axle

  17. Between the various incarnations of the Lindberg Dodge / Plymouth kits. I probably have 20 , maybe 25 Bought up a bunch of them when Ollies had them for $8 ea I thought the ladies eye were gonna pop out her head when I walked to the register with at least a half dozen of them one day 64 Plymouth chassis is the one thats unfinished The Plymouth chassis is about an 1/8" shorter in wheelbase and maybe 3/16" shorter overall .. it would appear the difference is in the center of the pan itself. I'm afraid I don't have many. extras of the Plymouth to part with
  18. Lawman and Color Me Gone both are max wedge powered. If you want a few. I have a boatload of extra color me gone kits I can send you. We will work out details another time
  19. I knew about the metal axles in the mopar kits from the period ( I have them all ) . So only figures the others would be the same. DID NOT know about the rocker trim though Thanks
  20. the Copper looks amazing on those cars. To be honest I dont think I've ever seen a Dodge in Copper. But have seen a few Plymouths that color and it looks AMAZING
  21. I'll find them. just give me a few days. We are hip deep into a house remodel . And model cars are LOW priority at the moment . Planning to put it up for sale the next few weeks and move to sunny Arizona Bill
  22. My weekend purchase. Looks clean enough for some basic touchups and in the case it will go. To sit along side a few others I doubt I will ever take apart to redo
  23. Being somewhat interested in this same info for a 1964 Plymouth sedan . Has anyone held either the MCW and/or the Bandit body in hand.? to comment how nice it is ,,or isnt ? Compared to others. I have both a MCW and Speed City bodies of a 1965 Plymouth AFX, and Speed City is heads above the MCW body as to quality. So I am interested to know the best one avail out there I have the JF 1964 Plymouth body and it leaves A LOT to be desired
