Ollie's strike again
gtx6970 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you and me both. I'm actually trying my best to keep modern or recently tooled kit purchases to a bare minimum and concentrate of my old annuals / drag car wants list. But even its getting incredibly small nowadays / aka very limited purchases. And even then it has to be a pretty good buy for me to bite . The days of my over paying for ANY kit is over. I already have far more than I will probably ever build while I am on the green side . I want one of the new Dyon Don cougar kits. But I can wait till I get a good deal on one. Buying off the net and paying postage , isnt going to happen. I'll do without it first -

Interesting kits. Even though its 100% fictitious. But, To be honest. I wouldn't mid having one of these kits to build. -

Yep, thats the one. The box and the trailer will go away / become trade fodder I almost bought a different one a while back,. but it was missing the hood inserts which I have a feeling cant be easy to find . I'm glad I waited. This one I felt was reasonable $$ -

Nice, Looks like I'll be adding one of these to the kit pile , dang it . Been trying to avoid adding to it lately with modern stuff and concentrate more on my old annuals wants -

Yep, been after either a 61 or 62 for a while now. I put a bid in to see if I could get lucky. and from what I can tell it was a good buy ( under $60 ) By the time I off the box and the trailer / I'll be in it about what a modern kit costs. Life is good. ...Now I need a clean builder 1960 F100 to go with it -

Agreed, Im a convertible fan myself. So I don't think I any of the hardtops. Im a 1959 Model myself ( I have all the convertibles for that year as well ) I did just win a 1961 Ford F100 this morning. ( been after one for a while now and routinely exceed my toy fund allows ) -
its a good weekend for me. Won an auction on 'that ' site. For a 1961 Ford F100 pickup. Been after either a 1961 one 62 for a while now and they seem to regularly go for more then my budget allows / am willing to pay Won this one for under $60. Not bad considering it has the box and even the trailer included, ( both of which will be used a trade fodder ) Now, If I can just get a decent buy on a 1960 F100 to go with it

Dont limit yourself to just model paints . Walks into most any decent auto parts store and find the Duplicolor paint rack .I use Duplicolor laquers a lot. ( a good primer base is required though ) So your color options are pretty much endless

Silly question, I know there are several members here that collect old annuals besides myself . Anyone here have all the ones shown here ? Except the 61 Thunderbird and a Lincoln . I own all the convertibles -

AMT's 1975 Duster
gtx6970 replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
How deep is your wallet . This is about right for an unbuilt https://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-1975-Plymouth-Duster-Annual-Kit-MINT-Unbuilt-Sealed-Inside-NM-Box/202315953781?hash=item2f1af87675:g:bqEAAOSwPN1amGY6 This auction has a Sox and Martin pro stock builder in it , which is a 1973 . appears to be missing bumpers https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-MPC-PRO-STOCK-PLYMOUTH-DUSTER-LOT-1-25/282995336632?hash=item41e3d625b8:g:FRgAAOSwb39bFc9m a distressed 73 promo should go cheap https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Plymouth-Duster-Dealer-Promo-Model-1-25-scale/132648898386?hash=item1ee27d8f52:g:Wt8AAOSwdhlbFFvo -
AMT's 1975 Duster
gtx6970 replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Trying to make that Dart kit look like a Duster is huge task . As about the only thing it has in common with a Duster is the basic shape of the body. IMO,,,,You can probably find a decent builder actual 75 Duster without hurting the wallet to bad . the 73 to 75 Duster kits are not real hateful to find as a decent builtup / builder. Odds are you can find one for not much more than this dart kit costs . I sold the 2 or 3 parts kit Dusters I had last year. and I don't think I got maybe $40 for them ( there were 2 or 3 builders in the lot ) -
Over-the-top hot-rod Corvair truck.

meh, Sorry . Not a fan of the hot wheels look in the 1/1 world -
As far as I'm concerned, a 1:1 vintage Ferrari is just another item that's only good for "looking at". Steve Although that may be the norm with Ferrari owners. I know of a couple BIG MONEY cars that get flogged fairly regularly . One ladyy I know of has an early 30s Alfa Romeo, she runs the day lights out of Her thought is anything can be fixed, and she can afford to do pretty much anything she wants , when she wants . Cool, Not for me, but still pretty cool. And I for one don't care for the Testarossa . I much prefer the GTO

GREAT thread ,so keep the pictures ( of all kinds) coming. I can SO remember walking down isles like these , pondering exactly which one I was going to spend my allowance on that particular day . Bought my very model kit at Sids Drug store in Elsmere Ky . If I remember right , kit, glue and a bottle of paint was less than $2 I'm guessing I was less than 10 at the time, so that would have been about 1968 or 69 . My how times have changed . And I so miss days like that Looking at these pics, Makes me wonder if ANYONE in these pics is A - alive. B- still doing models of any kind, and C - a member of this very board Also , for a little side fun . how many can date these pictures ? last one I'm guessing is 1965 , maybe early 1966 ( 65 barracuda kit on the table ) -
Motor City Resin Casters order
gtx6970 replied to Fat Brian's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Ive bought several items from that detroit group. And NONE of it has failed to please me. Them boys make some nice stuff -
Very nice. Lots of high end iron there. Although most of them I would walk right by to ck out the vintage stuff. But I'll take any one of them for the day ,,just for giggles The local Mercedes dealer around here does something similar once a year. High end exotics and muscle cars take over there lot for the day.
