Scale I Build

  1. My hot red hot rod... love this build, so clean!
  2. Yesterday I played around with a NIKON D7000 ... I had a lot of fun. Some of my (simplier) previous works on Model T's
  3. I am getting ready to build a 70's Mustang II kit & want to put a 460 Ford engine in it. What kit would have a good donor 460 engine? Thanks for any help.Brad
  4. Hey everyone! I decided to start another project over the long weekend and I've had this mid nineties release of the Amt/Ertl '40 Ford Sedan Delivery in my collection asking to be built. In the meantime, I've found that the clear parts tree is MIA and I'm in definite need of finding it. The body will be a gloss black. The white walls were hand painted with Model Master acrylic white. The wheels were shot with Duplicolor Universal Black and then cleared with Testors Wet Look Clear coat. The interior was shot with Testors One Coat Lacquer Root Beer and then brush painted Testors Gloss Wood. I'll do the detail painting for the brackets and run an acrylic mahogany wash over it and see what comes of that. I used white glue and brown embossing powder to simulate carpet. I sprayed the chassis with Krylon Flat Black, detailed it with Testors Flat Brass and Model Masters steel. The Flathead V-8 was painted with Testors Zinc Chromate and detailed with Testors Flat Black, Gloss Black, Flat White and Flat Bronze. I'll make some more progress tomorrow after work. I wish I could bring it with me! Goodnight everyone! Thanks for looking!
  5. Looking to build a 70 for a friend for Christmas. He has wanted a 1:1 for years and i believe he has stated before that it would be burnt orange on 35s with a small lift. So i am looking for some ideas to get me an idea. I wanna see what yall have built. 2wd 4wd lifted or slammed lets see what ya got. Also i have a 75 2wd f250 1:1 that i am replicating what i want it to be so lets see some of those built up too. I have asked him for input but havent had him send me any real ideas yet. Thanks Y'all.
  6. I'm calling this one complete. This is the Revell 1950 Ford F1 Truck kit. The paint is Createx Sky Blue with Tamiya Clear. This kit was a joy to build
  7. Hey everyone! This is only my second project I've started since 2002. My first one became a mess, so I stripped it and started fresh. This is my first attempt at using automotive paint, so I decided to try it out on a car that I don't care much about, never been a a of them. Interestingly enough, since researching the car online, I've grown to appreciate it! I hope I do it justice. I'm using Rustoleum plastic primer, Duplicolor Perfect Match Victory Red and Too Clear Coat. I haven't started sanding the body yet, so the runs on the driver's side will be going away! Between work and my girl, I'll try to update on its progress! Please feel free to criticise and give me pointers! Thanks for looking, see you around!
  8. The ancient Monogram Green Hornet kit, a show car fashioned after the Grasshopper, became one of my favorite kits when it was reissued many years ago. We don't know why Monogram didn't simply call it "The Grasshopper" since it would have been more recognizable to that generation of builders. There has to be a story! Anyway... I didn't build the above model. I saw it sitting on a dealers table at a show many years ago. It was built by Tom Trementano of the Liars Club in New York. It's a clean box stock build and I couldn't grab it quick enough for the $8 asking price. I got it home and saw great possibilities. Like the original Grasshopper, the body comes off the chassis revealing a very cool, but simple, assembly that could be used under nearly any Ford body of the 1920s through 1934 era. The kit is 1/24 scale, but the chassis seems to fit everything. The car was a '23 T roadster with an Oldsmobile 461 blown engine. And here's the original Grasshopper. Note that the original car didn't have the fenders or headlights found in the kit. I am not a fan of the single seat with the fuel tank sitting in the passenger area. I have added a passenger seat in my builds. I understand the car is long gone, but someone has built a 1:1 replica. And here's the hobby shop display base that Monogram sent out back in the day! So I started to play and I was amazed at how well it fit onto bodies in my junk box... I believe this was an old AMT Model A. Although a Model T is narrower than the later models, the fact that the chassis is 1/24 scale plays well with the fender spacing on 1/25 scale bodies. An old Model T Phaeton And one I just fell in love with... The old AMT '29 Ford pickup just looks sinister on this chassis. The next post will go into some more build ideas!
  9. Hello from the biggest Ford freak in Michigan! I built lots of models when I was a kid, and a few since then. I have a huge pile of project, unbuilt, and WIP Fords. Maybe you guys can help me make some progress. Here's my '68 Fairlane resin being built to replicate the real in the garage. Thx for having me!
  10. Built this one basically box stock with the exception of the '34 grille and windshield frame. Just have to let the rust do it's thing for a bit longer and install the finishing touches...
  11. With the vast majority of these kits being done in green or blue, I wanted a different color for mine. So I picked Tamiya Gunmetal. From what I understand it was a factory summer color for Ford back in 1957 so that worked out well since I was debating on whether to build it stock or not. The final build will be something like a "day one" or "week one" car. Chrome reverse wheels are from the AMT 36 Ford kit while the tires are from the AMT parts pack, L60s on the rear while the F60s are on the front. Intake is from the Revell 57 Tudor kit. Interior is a mix of Tamiya greys, German grey on the door and seat panels, medium sea grey carpet, and light aircraft grey inserts on the door panels. The top of the door panels, rear floor, and wheel wells are painted body color, along with the dash. I still need to paint the white part of the seats the light aircraft grey. I might put some blue dots and some pin stripping on the tail gate, not sure yet. Thanks for looking :-)
  12. Moebius 1969 Ford SWB converted to 4x4 using the AMT '78 Ford kit for all 4wd parts as well as lights, tires, and roll bar. I still have to make or buy front locking hubs.
  13. Revell '55 Ford panel van painted with Model Masters black lacquer & clear. Homemade decals, scratch built shifter with "8 ball" knob, wired engine. Also added a stained, decaled, & clearcoated wooden barrel. I made this one to sit on my basement bar.
  14. This is Captain Risky's Stunt Falcon... Budget Direct – an Australian insurance company – have thrown us into 2015 with their new ‘Kick It and Rip It’ campaign with "Captain Risky". He makes his black and blue debut as a daredevil who’s just, well, not that good. But it’s funny and ridiculous and that is the success of this ad. It shows us someone so buffoonish, so uninsurable, that next to him, anyone can be insured. The Falcon XB is from ThePartsBox.com and the decals are printed by Pattos Place. The Roof engine is scratchbuilt. Check him out here
  15. Painted with Duplicolor paint & clear. Wheels/tires are Pegasus. Detailed interior, smoked headlights, lowered stance, BMF "5.0" emblems, flowing horse decals from Boss 429 kit, & painted tail lights. Fun kit to do until they issue the actual model kit(hopefully).
  16. AMT 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Victoria. Fully stock (well almost) with just a little treat under the hood. A blown 312. Paint is Tamiya TS-15 blue. Foil is home made, no BMF. Also has gold candy wrap on the side spears. The kit used was one of those old ones molded in blue. have to get another one of those... Fast build, only took me five days. The only extra detail is a wired distributor, and plug wires that go above the valve covers due to the headers installed. Not much detail, only a nice shelf model to go back to FoMoCo after building a Dodge EEEEEWWW!!! 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr
  17. A simple kit but a lot of fun. Painted with Model Master metallic black & flame red. Roof was sprayed with Dullcoat & tires & wheels are from parts box. Interior is detailed & engine is wired.
  18. I posted this before awhile back but since then I've added Hoosier tires & different wheels & took some outdoor pics. I built it as a dirt purestock racer. Most of the decals are homemade. They are logos & brands from where I work.
  19. Not sure at first where to go with this but did settle for a subtile street machine. Older AMT,got it built up as a Nascar, tried to improve it a bit. Comments and constructive critism is welcome. Thanks for looking, here are some pictures.
  20. I Started a Smaller Project in between my other, as the Title says it will be a Custom Hornby 1:32 Ford Focus WRC. I already painted the 1st Coat of paint on the outer Body, my choice Grabber Green. Picture didn't come out as good as I wanted it to, so will post a better one tomorrow with the 2nd Coat. Hope you all will enjoy!
  21. 2015 CUSTOM "1992 DJR SHELL ATCC FORD SIERRAS" 1:43 and 1:64 scale I remember watching John Bowe winning several rounds in the '92 season with my dad when I was 11 or 12 years old. John Bowe's #18 Shell Sierra was the first Australian race car I ever followed. Bowe actually won both heats on at least two occasions, maybe more, that year. These custom models are my first ever customs, besides a matchbox sierra I did when I was twelve. You can guess which Sierra I made back then in 1992 as a twelve year old.. John Bowe #18 painted with liquid paper (white out) plus red artline marker pen and using white video labels to hand draw the decals, it was great fun to make back in '92. But for these custom models pictured here I used Tamiya paint and made decals myself. For now they'll do until I receive proper decals and so far, it's already proving to be a long wait for the online decal place to make them. I have seven Sierras- '97 to '92 plus four EF/EL Falcons- '95 to '98 so far, all for ATCC/Supercar customs, waiting for decals. Customs created May/June 2015 Thank you for looking at my pictures. 22. Hey Guys going to start Another Project, this time The Revell 1/25 2015 Mustang GT SnapTite Kit (Red Version). I'm going to keep it red and have it sitting on some Aoshima Volk Racing TE37's in Bronze. Going to also have some added touches like painted Pony Emblem in Grill, Tinted Headlights and Fog Lights, Ford Pony License Plate and some other little things. Hope you guys enjoy!
  23. Over the years I have done model cars builds so good some not so good. Some I have sold but mostly have kept. For a while I got out of the hobby because life just got to hectic and my cars reflected it. So I but away everything into storage and went on. A year ago we moved and while packing and unpacking I came across " my supplies " and thought maybe it was time to return to it but this time around I wanted to push myself to see just what I could actually do beyond just building the typical model out of the box. Which is a good thing, as I was going through the boxes and boxes of model stuff I noticed I didn't pack everything or packed it well. Some pieces were broken, missing or i had no clue where they came from. So here it is The Anomaly 32 Ford project. Here is where I left off at. As I said before, I really want to push my self on this build. Since part of it is already done I don't really want to redo what I have done. In my mind I have big dreams for this car but we will see if I can get it done the way I am envisioning it. First I want to put bigger wheels so I found an old pair that I casted in resin. Not sure if I want to go that wide so these for now will just be mock ups. To make this a one of a kind........and well because I don't have all the parts I have enlisted the help from this kit. My plan is to use the motors from this kit ( once again because I am missing the bodies ) to build a fuel injected tandem motor. But with doing so I will have to cut the frame and make it longer so the new motors will fit.
  24. Just checking in and saying hi from Oklahoma land. Old man, no current builds but a few survivors from the 1980s. Been re-collecting some projects and especially want to build a copy of my full scale 1969 Mustang Coupe using the Grande Resin kit. Here's a few of the old builds for now. 1940 Sedan was built to be like the 40 Sedan in my garage at the time... model done back then, real car sold so I could work on my real 1969 Mustang. 1987 Turbocoupe drag car as the 87 Turbocoupe body on the 85 Pro Stock chassis before any TC kit was available. The 1985/6 Prostock car was done before the 87 with opened doors, trunk and removable front section. 1970 Boss 429 was basic build, toothpaste polished plastic with engine detail. 1940 Coupe Drag was the earliest build with a tilt up body and single drag seat/engine/drive line from a funny car kit. Getting interested again in scale to build a copy of my still in progress actual 1969 Mustang I've had since 1974. Back on the road this year and just picked up an affordable copy of the 1969 Grande body so now seems like a good time to start at least. Last pic is the real (but rough) 1969 Stang... fun (to me) story of that pic is I used to own the white TransAm back in the 80s, sold to a friend who had to sell it and recently got it back to rebuild and the 1978 Rally Sport Camaro was the car my wife and I actually met in back in 1980. Fun pic... But enough rambling... Stephen
