I did that kit years ago and built it up as a 240-Robert Search & Rescue truck base from the same titled television show. Now that Street vette, I got mine dirt cheap out of a model car kit lot from a fellow member in another forum I belong to. He noticed I was a car guy and offered me a bunch of my choosing including paints for $80s. I grabbed about 7 kits for that price. Most were kits from my youth years I've always wanted another crack at building again.

rob1957 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Hi Patric. Are all those kits in your collection ? Nice ! Dukes of Hazzard for 2.99$ . That's great . Interesting how many of these were based on popular television series . There is a kit based on The Monkees TV show ? Those guys in a band . I remember at least 1 kit from The Munsters TV show . Could be more ?

This kit is my last holy grail, and we know the tool existed as recently as 2006. They have reissued many other kits from the 70s, so why not this one? Maybe we will get lucky and see a reissue with the debut of the new 2021 Ford Bronco. With the new truck on the streets, it may be a good time to reissue this kit.
440 Dakota Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 would love to see the Super Z in the Super Z box, yes the box art has sentimental value to me, I think the red issue Pro Street was the last use of the tooling in the mid 80s and not all the super parts are included,

A friend of mine's father had a gas station with a 79 Bronco as a service truck, told him I would build a replica if I could find another kit.
Sledsel Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 (edited) I'd like to see this one again, or was the latest a version of it? Edited December 2, 2020 by Sledsel
BlackSheep214 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Best... Thread.... EVER!!! So many vintage kits that deserve to be re-popped.

Do I want to hold out some kind of hope that someone is going to re-pop a particular kit that I want sometime within the next 30 years, (hopefully before I'm dead), or do I want to be realistic and realize that I'm going to most likely have to bite the bullet and shell out a little cash if I really want it. Steve I realize, Steve, that any old kit is available someplace, for collector prices, if you want to pay for it. Which is why I specifically stated in my opening comments to post only "end of the line" tools that had the possibility of reissue as is. It's interesting to see how many kits were never reissued, even though the last run was never modified. I'm personally enjoying the retro box reissues that were getting now. Makes me feel like I'm getting old vintage kits for current retail prices. Almost as if these old kits were left unpurchased on the shelves since they're original release.
keyser Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Some were never reissued because they did sit on shelves. MPC 70 Impala convert. Issued once in Halloween glow plastic. Never saw anything but 1-2 gluebombs in 30y

I don't know if anyone is aware, but the chassis, engine compartment and engine parts fit really well in both the AMT and MPC 71-73 Mustangs. Adds much more detail than their original parts! I had one of the kit years ago and I'm sure I'll trip across one some day...

Mercury Cougar kit might be reissued within the next few years. The second gen Ford Bronco not being reissued is still a mystery to me, too, but I suspect there's a good reason we have yet to see it. I wonder if the 1/24 Monogram '70 Plymouth GTX can be reissued, or if it was irreversibly modified into the '70 Plymouth Road Runner? I believe 1991 was the most recent(!) reissue.

I remember reading somewhere that Monogram didn't butcher any of their tooling, they simply made different inserts to create reversible variations. I hope that was correct. Especially for the Turbo T/A that I posted earlier.

There were numerous kits that were reissued by Model King, Learning Curve and Racing Champions that, imo, Round 2 really needs to bring back rather than endlessly recycling the same old tired tooling. In addition to the Bronco, the ones on my personal want list are the MPC Monte Carlo and GTO Super Stockers, the MPC L.A. Dart wheelstander drag car and MPC Winged Expess and Bantam Blast fuel altereds. The Super Stockers are 1,000 times better than the AMT Modified Stocker kits Round 2 insists on churning out. The chassis is perhaps the best short-track racing unit ever kitted and it has an adjustable wheelbase, which means it can be adapted to fit under virtually any mid-sized body. When Model King reissued those kits, I has several friends who bought cases of them to use as chassis donors. I've also seen the fuel altereds used as donors for numerous drag car projects. Like the Super Stockers, they've become expensive and difficult to find. Maybe Round 2 will get around to reissuing these kits eventually. I just hope I'm still around when they do.

That's a cool variation! I started building it from the available Stude kit (same decals) and the Piranha chassis, which is basically what it is. There is an interior piece and what appears to be different headers. I haven't seen on ebay and years and of course it would be stupid money.... -RRR
