gtx6970 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Ever thought about your stash ( built or unbuilt makes no difference ) and took a good look at it? To ck the newest model it represents. (I'm not talking about the year the kit was produced ) . Simply the year it represents or replicates. I was down in the family room / stash area this morning looking for something and it hit me. I think the newest one in mine is about 1974 or 75 and even its a slant nose Vega funnycar .So whats that say about me,,,,,,,,I'm old . lol
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 2017 Ford Ford GT. #2 is the 2009 Dodge Challenger, #3 2007 Corvette C6R
Kit Basher Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 '09 Challenger, '07 Shelby GT 500, '04 Vette ZO6
Lizard Racing Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 2001 Corvette C5R Daytona winner. The rest are '60s & '70s. I'm old too.
StevenGuthmiller Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 You're old? I'm pretty sure the newest model year I have right now is an old Monogram 1971 Plymouth Satellite kit! I'm fairly certain the newest one I've ever owned was an AMT '72 Chevelle. But there is "hope" for me. I've been considering picking up a Johan '73 Cutlass! Steve
my66s55 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Old? What's this "old" thing you speak of? The newest kit in my stash is a 72 GTO.
Spex84 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 I have a couple '67 GTX kits, a '77 Dodge truck, a 90s corvette...and everything else in my collection is older than '62. In fact, most of them are '30s to 50s.When it comes to buying new kits, I like to get hot rod and classic kits with parts that will kitbash nicely with my existing stash, so that means I shy away from late-models.
vintagedragcrazy Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Of all the kits that I have and that's lots I have two new challengers one unbuilt and the other built as the Larry griffiths drag car, a meng pickup and I'm pretty sure everything else is pre 1980 I guess I'm old too I just don't care for the newer cars.vince
Mr Stock Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Newest model year would be the 1990 Revell Mustang LX.
Deano Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Not sure what it might have to do with my age, but the newest model year car in my stash is a 2014 Corvette Snap Kit. My interest tends to hover around 50s to early 70s and Hot Rods but anything is fair game in my 57 year-old world.
ChrisBcritter Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 (edited) Two-way tie: 2 '77 Cadillac Coupe deVilles (one coupe, one convertible conversion).ETA: '92 Ford F-150 pickup promo. The '77 Caddies are still the latest year kits I've built for myself. I did build an '80s Tamiya Mercedes 500 SEC Lorinser once for a friend. Edited April 16, 2016 by ChrisBcritter
High octane Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Without checkin' the "stash" probably the '71 Charger kit.
Snake45 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Can't say for sure. Pretty sure the latest I've actually built was a '99 Camaro I did for my kit, who owned one.90% of my stash is '60s and early '70s cars. 90% of the other 10% would be rod-era cars, and '55-'57 Chevies.
mikemodeler Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Probably the Revell snap Corvette C6, 2014? I also have a Revell snapper of the F150 Raptor 2014?Most everything else is 50's- early 80's, with some earlier hot rods thrown in.
CometMan Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 2010 Camaro RS/SS, to feed my pace car fascination. For regular cars, 1970 Bonneville.
Craig Irwin Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 A Revell Mustang, somewhere about an '06 or '07, that and the Dodge Challenger are about the only new cars that interest me. Rest are much older.
