Jantrix Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Umm....................wow. I'm of two minds on this. I really dig the lower Volvo P1800-esque body, but the moderm roofline just stands out like a sore thumb.
Bainford Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Yeah, there is a lot of P1800 in there. The design requires refinement, but with some work I think I could like this. It is certainly different, and has more potential than most vehicles from that part of the world. Neat.
Richard Bartrop Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I'm thinking it would look a lot better as a convertible.
bbowser Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Dig the brocade seats! I think it would look much better if it was all one color. That 2-tone scheme does nothing for it. Otherwise it doesn't look to bad, although I agree about the greenhouse clashing with the rest.
stitchdup Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I think it needs a chop or the split where the 2 tone is raised up to the hood line with the rear end raised the same amount. I like the concept a lot though, just needs a little refinement but really not that much
Chuck Most Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I'm thinking it would look a lot better as a convertible. Not a convertible guy myself, but I have to totally agree with you on this one.
JollySipper Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I like the p1800 a LOT..... It's hard to replicate the sportiness of the original one!
jaymcminn Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Just buy and restomod an original P1800. Probably costs less than this monstrosity anyway.
iamsuperdan Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Hmm...I kind of dig it. Maybe not in that teal/gold colour scheme, but I dig it. And look at this interior! The radio with the needles? Take my money now.
kitbash1 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Hmm...I kind of dig it. Maybe not in that teal/gold colour scheme, but I dig it. And look at this interior! The radio with the needles? Take my money now. I think that it has potential., it just need a bit of refinement in a few places. Interior looks nice.
THarrison351 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Umm....................wow. I'm of two minds on this. I really dig the lower Volvo P1800-esque body, but the moderm roofline just stands out like a sore thumb.Like you said, the roofline is just too sleek to fit in with the retro below the beltline. Reminds when they had kits for putting 49-50 Ford bodywork on nineties T-birds. It just looked odd to me.
PARTSMARTY Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I kinda like it and love the look of the interior !!!
espo Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 This looks like an extremely well done model sitting on a deck railing. The basic Volvo P1800 is always nice to look at. The colors are something that may grow on you. The Mustang II looking grill will need some more development. The low profile white wall tires are interesting. Not sure where the windshield came from. Is this a model, real, or photo shop ?? .
djflyer Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I like the p1800 a LOT..... It's hard to replicate the sportiness of the original one! Definitely this is the best update to the P1800. There are actually several places that are building this Bo Zolland design. One got the crucial greenhouse correct but no one has gotten the DB-5 style headlights right. I actually kinda like the Russian one - the exterior could be good with some refinement. The retro-interior is great tho. Finally a dash that's something other than one big touch screen. (which is almost like texting and driving isn't it?)

espo Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Thank you for the update. The car looks much better to me in the darker colors. I also got lost in the link you mentioned watching the Rusky version of Top Gear.
Matt Bacon Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) It looks rather like one of the less successful coach builder's efforts at a Ferrari America... lots of nice individual details, but for me they don't quite "gel"... and there are too many of them in one car!For an alternative example, Google "Maserati 5000GT." Mostly hideous, especially the Frua. And then compare with the Touring 3500GT coupe. "Less is more" applies in car design, too...On the whole, it seems to me you should never let the client get too involved in coachbuilding. best,M Edited August 29, 2017 by Matt Bacon
Richard Bartrop Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 That roof looks better from the back, but that kink in the middle of the fin is just a bad idea.
The Junkman Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Not to denigrate others views but I don't like a single aspect of that....thing. Every automotive cliche' is present. Fins on top of fins. Sharp, blocky body topped by a smooth arching roof. Side spears on a short(ish) body. Overly complicated front and rear styling. Plus the fact that they sacrificed a BMW. Reminds me of the unlamented Excaliburs of the 70s.
Mark Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Looks like the Russian equivalent to one of those kits that you stick on a Nineties Thunderbird, to make it look like a shoebox Ford...
vintagerpm Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Who would do that to a poor, innocent BMW?Then again, I do kind of like the paisley interior.
Russell C Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Interesting overall. But would do better if it was sectioned a bit more with larger rear wheels & wheel opening back there?
