mr moto Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Based on the recent Round 2 release '50 Ford convertible. It was conceived as a tow vehicle for the "Hydro Hawk" boat that I built a while back. Engine is the stock flathead with the 2 carb manifold from the kit.
mredjr Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 (edited) Great job!! I would never thought to do that but it is cute. What would you take for the up-top out of that kit? Edited July 16, 2018 by mredjr
Ballroad Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 That's just really cool, I like the rear end treatment on the Ford. Studebaker roof on the boat, lots of imagination...

TarheelRick Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Super nice build, Like the way you pancaked the hood. What are those taillights from?

misterNNL Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 (edited) As there is no rear door, how do the rear seat passengers enter their seats ? I thought the rear cowl might pivot up for that but there seems to be an upholstered panel at that location. Just wondering how that works. Edited July 16, 2018 by misterNNL fat fingers !

Tom, check out the little toe-step notch under the rear quarter panel trim (above the wheel arch). I love this thing! Creative, unique, and well executed. The taillight treatment and color breakup is really cool. Even without the boat-themed details, it would be a very attractive custom.
mr moto Posted July 17, 2018 Author Posted July 17, 2018 Thanks, everybody, and I'll try to answer the questions without actually quoting them. First, I plan to hang on to the up top for possible future use. The taillights are the customizing parts from a '53 Studebaker kit just laid down horizontally. And as Spex84 said, the rear passengers would use the steps and grab handles to just climb right in. It's kind of a rumble seat arrangement.
Phildaupho Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Very creative concept and design which has been beautifully executed for both the car and boat
TooOld Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Very cool ! What a great concept and very well done ! Also took a peek back at your Hydro Hawk , also very very cool !
Jantrix Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Very unique. Great planning and execution. Well done.
rickcaps55 Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Dammmm! that's so cool it's awesome now that's a custom looks like it could have come out of a 50's or 60's Rod & Custom or Hot Rod Mag.!!! Very nice it's really nice to see a build like that again no one really does them any more.!!!
espo Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 I like how you Customized the Ford. The Duel Cowl arrangement looks almost as if it would be a Boat Deck. The trim and paint style reflects the Boat perfectly. I would also like to know the source of the Studebaker and the Boat hull.
Bainford Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Very clever design. I like how you integrated the nautical details. Nicely executed as well.
OldTrucker Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 A work of art is the only way I can think of to describe this great build! My wife's first words was "it looks like a boat and she really surprised me when she recognized the Studebaker roof on the boat!
Gramps46 Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 I don't use the word cool very often but you sure deserve it this time.
