stavanzer Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 It will be fun to see that '64 Cutlass kit. Tooled up a year after I was born. I want one.

AMT PLASTIC MODEL KITS AMT-1200 1/25 1964 Olds Cutlass F85 Convertible $35.95 TBA That's the one whose hanger tag described it as very rusty, so they're putting some restoration effort into it - question now is, will the body be restored to stock, or will it stay a topless funny car?
Casey Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 AMT-1089 1/25 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse AMT-1188 1/25 1964 Plymouth Belvedere w/Straight 6-Engine AMT-1198 1/25 1966 Chevy Nova SS AMT-1206 1/16 1957 Ford Thunderbird
niteowl7710 Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Pretty sure the Belvedere will come with both engines as the box art was on display hiding in a corner at the German Toy Fair and it had a sticker on it advertising the V-8.

Could that be the "muscle car" they, according to their video are working on?
ChrisBcritter Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Maybe - although if you want to split hairs, the 4-4-2 was really the muscle car. Hopefully Missing Link will run off some hardtop bodies.

Hopefully Missing Link will run off some hardtop bodies. I believe MCW has resin hardtops available now. A few years back, I bought an absolutely beautiful resin '64 Cutlass kit off eBay for a very reasonable price. No idea who made it but I plan to build it. Come to think of it, it was just the body, hood, front and rear chrome and taillights, but I just happen to have a chassis, engine, and interior on hand.
'70 Grande Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Seems to me that I remember somebody here doing a pretty-accurate conversion of a '64 Cutlass convertible into a hardtop by using the separate roof piece from the AMT '65 GTO kit. Curious if others think that might be a good approach?
slusher Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 There are still 66 Nova pro street at Hobby Lobby unless this Nova coming out is stock".

If the restored kit has those in it, it moves to the top of my list, immediately.

Were those an actual option on Oldsmobile -- esp. the A-Body -- in 1964 ?
paul alflen Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Thank you round 2 for bringing this one back! On the hanger shot picture, everthing is there except the body. I think they retooled a body for it. The awb olds was on the hanger shot also! That is probably coming as well!!!!!!!( down the road)
Dave Van Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Hope the hardtop sows up at some point....not a conv fan....

Probably the most accurate one available at the moment, and actually one of the better parts of that whole kit.

GM in North America did not offer disc brakes until 1965, and only on the Corvette, but drums were still available that year for a reduced price. Other models didn't get discs until '67 (intermediate, full-size, Camaro/Firebird, Eldorado, Riviera, Toronado).

I didn't think that that was the case , esp. since the calipres in the kit's instructions are of the 4-piston variety ( like the setup that was used on the 1965-1966 Mustang , 1965-1972 Dart and Barracuda , and 1966-1969 Coronet and Belvedere ) .
