I finally got this built last night. Had to make it from scratch. If you want to see how I did it, go to my WIP in the Other/Road Race catagory... ‘(HRM) Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe’

Pieced together a rear suspension for my 41 Willys drag pickup. Still need to install shocks. Using parts box parts. Now to move to the front, then I can rust it all up.

Ive gotten a bit of work done on the Jeep.. I have the rest of the bed panels made and modified a roll bar to fit. I couldn’t find one wide enough, but this one was too tall. I shortened it and used the piece to widen it.

Using the squirrel ? defense... While waiting for things to dry on Jeep A, I cobbled together another chassis for a 2WD Jeep from parts.

After spending a few days listing every bottle and cans of paint, which I need to transfer to my PC, I decided to clean and rearrange my building bench.

You have an impressive model collection. Didn't realize Revell produced a '57 Chevy convertible. Something I might have to add to my collection.

Thank you, that's not even a 1/4 of the stash, a lot are boxed up and stored down in the flat in London,  it took me a while to track down the 57 Bel Air convertible, a model you just don't find this side of the pond.

This simple kit continues to put up a fight.

image.jpeg.d8a897c86cc8f94522586bac8cc19450.jpeg

It was Tamiya Silver Leaf, but I felt it looked a bit plain and I had some issues when painting the window surrounds and applying BMF, so after a quick sanding-down I went for the Light Gunmetal which reminded me of a 1:1 I used to see.

Got a few coats of TS13 clear onto it without any issue, looked like a good enough basis to polish out so I brought it into the house to spend a bit of time in the airing cupboard. Then I dropped it onto the floor.....

There's also a chip on the rear bumper, but as that gets painted black it's not a problem. I'm hoping the front chips can be sanded down, and the back corner touched-up by brush, then it'll get another coat or two of clear. Thinking about it, I might have a rear spoiler that would partly conceal it.

This is a kit that's already a replacement for one of those that melted in the sun, I can only be glad the shell didn't crack when it hit the deck......

So, under the flat pink-ish red (under the gold metalflake) was a robin's egg-ish blue. And when PurplePower lacks horsepower for some paint jobs, bring on the Easy-Off.

I’m suffering from a bit of project add at the moment, some we’re stalled while waiting on parts, so others were started??‍♂️

Got some updates on my 33, more work on the 60’s 32, and the 36 is finished!
started a 37 car hauler, and started a 34 to 32 pickup conversion! Sorted my wheels and tires!
And finally started a 74 chev pickup

it’s been a hectic bench for a couple of weeks

Since I'm already building 57 bug I deciede to build 66 drag bug at the same time. Used 2 tamiya engines and parts from a 3d printed engine to create a pauter machine type drag engine. If it was a v8 I guess it would be called a big block

Finally finished up all the scratchbuilt suspension for Projekt Junk Nova. Cut, scraped, and filed all the mold lines off a pair of ladder traction bars for it from an AMT '72 Nova (that alone took about an hour). Painted the chassis and all the suspension parts flat black primer in preparation for its semigloss coats. Whew! With a little luck, I'll be able to tack JunkNova's chassis together on Friday and have it finished enough by Sunday to take it to the local toy show and show it off to the vendor who sold me formerly useless, worthless, parts-missing POS.

Got some more work done on the 50 Ford engine and experimented with weathering an old cab. Going to try the salt technique tomorrow so I had to get the base down today. This may end up as a future "abandoned drag pickup" build.

Old and rusty is pretty much as hard to do as shiny I think. This is very subtle and well done.

Thanks! I like the way it looked too. Here is where it is at now that I sprayed the topcoat.

I saw one of the real Chrysler turbine cars parked on the street back when they were being driven around. This was in west central Ohio. A very striking car for sure.

Busy day today. Finished my 41 Willys drag pickup. Did some work on adding Viper GTS parts to my Dodge Stealth and, tonight, during a dozen songs, one beer and two stabbings with an Xacto knife I managed to get the flash removed from this resin 68 Chrysler 300. All in all, a productive day!

Between yesterday and today.. 66 Valiant Speedster. Just for fun.

This thing SCREAMS to have a driver figure that looks like the guy in the old Maxell tape ads! Tie, and all!

Weather wasn't great on Sunday for anything else and it was too cold to spend the day in the shed, so I moved the modelbuilding basics inside.

Model progress by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

The lighting was terrible so I was limited in what detail work I could do, but I thought I'd try and make a bit of progress on all of my current six projects. In the end I didn't even open the box on the Courier, but I managed to do something meaningful on the other five. I like to get to the point where I have something to ponder on them in idle moments during the week, planning out the next stages, and I certainly achieved that.

Somewhat successful Tamiya TS-14 black paint job. Will see how it looks tomorrow, once it has settled.

Much better than yesterday's effort as I over did it on the Nova. Trying to get dialed back in to how I use to paint black as ive been out of practice for too long.
