Scott Colmer Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Hey Gregg and Jim, Thanks for the profs. The latch is 1/25. The rims look great! Scott
hedotwo Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 (edited) Finished up my '67 Supernatural Impala front seat conversion to a stock bench. I used a rear seat from the two door kit, filled in the speaker with styrene slurry, cut off the package shelf, sanded the center of the seat cushion and backrest smooth while leaving the textured remainder of the bench. I then fabbed a seat back using quarter round and 020 sheet. For the back seat it was much easier, only having to fill the speaker hole and sand the center sections of the seat cushion and backrest. I did not modify the front seat cushion to give it rounded corners, but rather just left it squared off "convertible style". Edited February 20, 2021 by hedotwo
Tom Geiger Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Seats look great! Jeep chassis painted and up on wheels. Wired engine today too!
Danno Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Nice work, Rich, on "re-upholstering" your seats! ??
Cool Hand Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Started roughing in a custom engine bay on another build. The build.
Spottedlaurel Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 20 minutes ago, Cool Hand said: Started roughing in a custom engine bay on another build. Hey, a C210 Skyline! I had a 1:1 version for some years (and several others for spares/sold on for repair). Certainly no V8 in mine, though a friend did drop an old V8 into one he had.
Cool Hand Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Good to see someone knows what it is, had the engine in the spare parts stash for years and wanted it to go in something different. So into the 77 in went, I call it my Japanese version of Fast & Furious Doms Charger. LOL!
89AKurt Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I dislike painting springs on coilover shocks so much, that I do this. No wonder I don't get many models done. ?

OldNYJim Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Those shocks look SO MUCH better! Nice work! Today, at my bench, I made a tiny mermaid figure to put on the dash of one of my builds: Not done yet, but started getting some base colors of paint on her - she’s meant to be like one of those dashboard hula girls, but a mermaid!

PatW Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 It was a travel pack holding nail clippers, but the clippers (5 years old) broke last week. So with a bit of careful work with my razor saw gave me these.. When painted and /or decaled two roof boxes, hey presto!

Snake45 Posted February 23, 2021 Author Posted February 23, 2021 Been working on "rescuing" this toy show glue bomb '67 GTO with what looked like a savable paint job on it: I THOUGHT the biggest problem was a semi-obvious paint run/blob on the hood. but that sanded and polished right out. The rest of the paint polished up to an acceptable shine, too--it turned out to be pretty tough stuff. Next problem was some rather prominent flash running along the top edges of both rear fenders--you can see it in the above pic. I THOUGHT these would be easily removed with a sharp Xacto, and then I'd just touch up the exposed plastic with a brush (just did exactly this on another rescue with excellent results). Turns out those flash ridges were about .010" thick, and I had to resort to sanding sticks to remove them completely. Now I'll have to mask off and touch up the paint with airbrush--I THINK I have a blue that's a close match.
steveracer Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 After a few days off of modeling, got back into it tonight with a little alclad application in a cold garage. I got kicked out of the basement with the spray booth. The alclad REALLY needs a warm environment to lay on nicely. But close enough.....
OldNYJim Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Messed with a technique for making plug boots: Got about 2 that I was perfectly happy with ??
cobraman Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 They look good Jim. You going to share how with us ?
steveracer Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Kurt. Did you shape a piece of plastic to make that figure? That tiny? That’s crazy work!!!

JollySipper Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Not today, but over the past couple, I turned this '34 pickup into a roadster..... Here it is with a shortened bed from a previous try at this kit. I want to get some bronze paint for it, maybe that would look good with the orange-ish wheels........
Scalper Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 (edited) Completed my dash for my tamiya countash box art build. Edited February 25, 2021 by Scalper

Testor #11 wasn't a perfect match, but it's about as close as you could possibly get. If I didn't tell you the fender tops had been repainted, you'd never spot it. Will be interesting to see if the color difference shows up in finished pics.

Scott Colmer Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Lots of good scratch building here. (Travel pods, Shocks and plug boots.) I've nearly finished a Quarter Stick shifter.
Lownslow Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 cleaned the engine bay on my 67 by moving the alternator and switching it with a kit version of the front plate electric pump combo and then i made standalone moroso waterpumps
