It just takes one grumbling about "old molds" I for one am tickled pink for these old kits. Newer ones are nice, more detailed but in many cases far from accurate. Pick your poison.

Everything but the separate Galaxie was talked about in the previous Round2 videos (If I missed it, my bad) Glad to see as a separate kit, and do not care that it is only a curbside. I can fix that. I can fix that. I agree with you regarding the curbside / promo-style of the Galaxie . I've come to appreciate the less-parts-content kits of yore ( the 1963 Nova Wagon , and the 1964 Olds F-85 / Cutlass , for example ) . Further , I like the promo-based car feature callouts on the Galaxie's chassis ! For decades , no one wanted that -- now that artifact is being embraced .

Snake45 Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 The '62 Chev is of interest to me. I'm starting to put together a collection of Don Nicholson models.

Rob Hall Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 (edited) This is the Californian--custom body and trim. I've never had an MPC Toronado. Edited August 5, 2021 by Rob Hall
GMP440 Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Anyone know if Round 2 is reverse engineering the Californian from an existing kit or is being produced from existing tooling? Maybe a question for Tim Boyd or Casey.

Maybe a question for Tim Boyd or Casey. Probably existing tooling....AFAIK, the Californian was the last issue of the MPC Toronado....has never been reissued, was only out once 52 years ago apparently. Looks like MPC made stock Toronados in '67 and '68, then the Mannix roadster, then the Californian. Presumably, the stock tooling was scrapped along the way. The Californian is a pretty dreadful looking custom IMO, no wonder it was never reissued in the past... Edited August 5, 2021 by Rob Hall
Chuck Kourouklis Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Nice! Got an original MPC '67 Toro, it'll be interesting to compare...
