For some reason, I've not had much luck trying to build '57s - from AMT or Revell. They've all ended up abandoned, parts-boxed, or technically finished but unspoken of. So I decided to give it another go with Revell's snap kit, and in an effort to keep me on track I tried to keep it as close to box stock as possible. I switched the wheels for a set from AMT's kit, which worked well since both use metal axles, but otherwise it's just paint and BMF. I'm still not 100% satisfied with the results, but I'm not outright annoyed by it either so I'm calling it a win.

Wow! That's sharp! These do build up nicely, don't they?! Seeing this, I don't see how the others could be any challenge to you at all. Now go ahead and foil that full rocker trim Revell was gracious enough to mold on!?

Thanks, guys!

A quirky combination of impatience and bad luck - some sort of model building blind spot, I guess. This one didn't escape entirely unscathed, either. That rocker trim you mentioned? I would have sanded it off like I did with the fuel injection scripts, had I been looking at the right reference material when I was doing the parting seam cleanup. I only noticed my mistake after it was painted, and I wasn't willing to go back and redo it at that point!

Looks great, Bill! Looks almost like my 1:1 but I have a white top, a silver dash (my choice, not stock) and chrome rockers.  I have build every iteration of the 57 Chevy, except the Snap-tite.  I guess I'll have to build it soon!  Yours looks great! ??

Building a model is just like owning a real car, you can do whatever you want with it. I have seen a lot of car back in the day that had weird, funny, awesome and outstanding paint jobs. The overlook on the trim could be just someone wanting to have it painted. Back in 81, I had my 72 satellite bumpers and all the trim painted semi gloss black with a gloss black body. It looked really great.

You did a great job on your model. Black cars always look awesome, trim or no trim.

Great looking '57 and the I like the contrasting black and chrome exterior.

I've often considered building this kit since I've seen so many great examples such as yours but I prefer the stock wheels which it doesn't seem as though the kit supplies them.

There was a release with stock wheels (hubcaps), but it's harder to come by for some reason.

I hit up eBay for these - there are a lot of sellers parting out both AMT and Monogram '57 kits, and you can get a set for less than a set of Pegasus or Aoshima aftermarkets.

Sounds like a good idea.

It is strange sometimes with Revell. I recently bought the Foose Impala and it contained both the custom wheels and stock wheel covers.
