In the 1966 FIA season Skip Scott, with sponsorship from the Essex Wire Corporation, fielded a team of 2 Ford MK1 GT40s.  At LeMans, #59 was driven by Skip and Peter Revson but In the 15th hour the engine let them down unfortunately.

This model is a Fujimi with a CMA resin transkit for the body.  The transkit was released before Fujimi had released a kit of the MKI, only the MKII

Comment: With my models I strive for accuracy and realism because that is what I enjoy.  Others have said that accuracy and backgrounds can detract from the model itself.  That is OK, to each his own.

Gary...I have a picture of my two children  (ages 11-14) standing next to this car at a Watkins Glen Vintage race. (they are in their 40's now)  This brings back some great memories.  And....yah....great looking model too. Thanks for sharing.

Looks really good Gary.  I like the fact you strive for realism in your builds.  I generally do these days but my current build does not reflect this as you will see when posted.

As always a very nice and different GT40.  I assume you used the Fujumi “gulf” kit and are the decals from the company that did some of the conversion kits or are them from VRM?

Rex, the CMA instructions say use the Fujimi MK II kit which was the only Fujimi kit available at the time.  The decals came via Island Collectibles but I don't know who made them.

This is really nice and great to see a less common livery. I totally agree with your vision of the model reflecting reality as much as possible. Your model looks like a period race car and I love that.

Now it makes sense.  I did not realize that was the CMA kit which came out long before the Fujumi MKI version.

I found this UMI decal set in my stash which has the markings for the Sebring and Monza races.  The fine print says they were printed by Cartograph.

Thanks Rex for the decal pic.  I looked and I do have that one in my stash and it confirmed my Island Collectables connection too.
