Earlier this month, the Mrs. let me pick out a couple of model kits at HL for an early Father's Day gift, along with a few supplies from my LHS. I also was fortunate enough to have been able to order some 3D printed parts to try out on future projects and to add to my photo background.

Slid into HobbyTown on the way home from a hike and  picked up an AMT 2021 Bronco, specifically to backdate it with a 289-302ish SBF and earlier underbody guts.

Looks like a nice kit, but why they molded it with an open hood (I'm glad they did) is anybody's guess, as there's not even a top-plate to go in the engine bay.

image.png.b940d60a754d4b530511e88991f1c9ae.png

We had a real one in the shop a while back, and the fragility of the suspension is appalling. An impact on the right rear tire...that didn't even hurt the rim...bent the rear axle housing and the rear Panhard bar. You could SEE the camber on the RH side of the rear from the bent housing, and the entire axle was displaced an inch to the left. And if that wasn't enough, the inertia of the huge spare on the rear gate bent the hinge mounting points for the gate.

Offroad vehicle, huh?

Lookit meeee!!! mall crawler is more like it.

--------------------------------------------------

Also got a Moebius '67 Ford pickup with the service bed. I had a '67 smoothside with a 352/C6 and it was a great truck, but it came to a sad end.

Anyway, I bought the kit mostly to backdate the bed for a '53 service truck, and will most likely swap the stepside fenders from the '53 on to the '67, and fab up a longer bed.

No chance these will get started any time soon, just a little retail therapy.  B)

Picked up one of these on eBay for $10, shipped (which may have made the seller a loss…) - not the most amazing hot rod kit in the world but I built one way-back and felt like having another:

Weird thing tho…this sealed kit had the wrong chrome sprue in the box:

Right manufacturer, it’s from the Lindberg 34 truck…but not super useful for the T kit.

Never had a kit with a complete wrong sprue in before ?

I had one about a bazillion years ago, molded in light blue with hard plastic tires.

Decent place to start from if you just use the body shell and fenders.

EDIT: Found one... image.png.70972db086779c1c80bf19d0bfef9cc4.png

Those "J's Wheels" look really interesting to me. I have also been looking at those Flame Masks and would like to know how they work out for you.

Added this week to the ol' leopard skin: '64 Chevelle (VERY impressed with it!), '73 Eldorado and '65 Rambler wagon promos:

I have a suspicion that it’s somewhat underscale for 1:25 (although the body is comparable to an AMT T coupe) - but as long as I know that going in it doesn’t concern me too much…

That T is very slightly undersize compared to AMT's.  Why, who knows.

The '34 pickup plated tree was put into that one issue, probably just to add some optional parts to it on the cheap.  The instruction sheet should show some of those parts.

The AMT coupe is quite reasonably accurately scaled. It fits the Revell (Buttera sedan delivery and derivatives) tube-frame correctly.

If the Lindberg kit is in the ballpark...which I don't know because I don't have one here...you're golden.

Remember...a T is a little car, significantly smaller than an A-model or a '32.

This is my second set of Jay's wheels. They're awesome! The flame masks worked great! I'll start a WIP thread tomorrow showing how they look. I'll also have a video on my Youtube channel, Stumpy Grump's Scale Speed Shop, showing most of my process.

Interesting!  Thank you - didn’t know that!

So…it came with an entire parts tree from a completely different kit…but not the wheels on the box?  Awesome  ??

Picked these 2 up yesterday. The Rambler has a broken steering wheel which I'll have to locate. It also has a broken B pillar but is still attached at the top and bottom. The Barracuda has a driver's side broken vent window post. It's there but is broken right at the very top. Should glue in place.

Today some paints, and a cobra came in. Also custom made parts holder from Etsy. I’ve opened the cobra, and unfortunately even sealed the decals were not 100% white, but more like beige yellow. If I can’t get them back white I’ll just keep it basic like on the Viking blue bottle of paint.

Picked up this vintage resin Hornet, off Ebay. It has some issues, but, a lot of resin from the '80s/'90s did. The roof is sunk, is the main one. It's not slush-cast, though. Nor is it overly-thick. That's important! It was much more affordable than a promo, and I needed something to keep this grille/bumper I have, company. Poor thing's been hanging around here, all by itself, for at least a couple of decades!?? It'll likely become a curbside class drag racer.

Going to the "dark" side of "Big Scale"

Also 4 Engines from Texas 3d, a 1/16 Nailhead , a 124th Nailhead, a Flattie with Ardun Heads and a Blower, and a SBF with a Paxton. all good stuff.

My other ikea skadis custom 3D printed parts came in. Didn’t hang them all up as I’m still tryna get the best lay out. The ones on top can hold Tamiya, Mr color, 10 mL also gravity colors lol. The other is for Vallejo or similar bottles, and the two shelves are for Tamiya glue bottle or anything that’ll fit.
