A bit different to the MR2, I picked this up at a 1:1 show today:

Will probably build the convertible as some sort of mild custom and consider the wagon roof for another project.

Wasn't looking for it at all, but I ran across what looks like a complete, intact built survivor original issue AMT Car Craft Dream Rod on eBay for an insanely low price. Put in a very modest bid and got it. Icing on the cake is, it comes with a built mild custom AMT C2 Vette roadster (can't really tell the year from the photos).  Both of them AND shpping and tax were just less than one current kit would have cost me at Hobby Lobby with the 40% off coupon. Can't beat a deal like that with a stick! B)

Made a run to HL yesterday for their 40% off sale. Picked up a 61 Impala and 6 bottles of craft acrylic paint. Going to get back to trying to master spraying acrylic paint.

Ah, that's interesting. I vaguely reall seeing the C&D version, didn't realise it was the Fujimi kit though. Makes sense, I have several Revell Europe kits which I know are reissued Fujimi.

It's one of the few I'd consider building basically stock, OOB. Wheels and tyres might need a bit of attention however, they're a bit too wide and the box art above shows them sticking out too far.

You think those wheels are off? Check this out. Revell also kitted this version, and from what I read, minus the wheels!!

And the wheels are what makes this kit so cool! I have the kit, but it is still sealed.

Cool! I wonder if there was a Fujimi version?

Reminds me of this ex-Fujimi Skyline that I have:

Got my eBay purchase of a 63 Tempest in today. Just as advertised! The stock taillights and trim panel and the convertible boot that I was missing from my other one were included. A little rust covered from the axles and screws but I'm sure it will clean up fine. I like the wheels. The plus is that the body is pristine, except for a little dirt.

Major cool! Now you can grab one of the funny car reissues, swap the roof onto the first convertible, and have one of each!

(And you won't need the other set of sun visors... ;))

Made a nice score today, and still managed to shoot myself in the foot a bit:

I've never seen any Jo-Han Studebaker promo this straight before - and it wasn't getting bid up like crazy, either, so I put out a lowball-ish bid in the last few seconds and nobody sniped it. The broken-off rear bumper tip I'll mold from the front bumper, as they're the same.

So how did I screw up? Well, I'd just gotten a discount code from eBay for $25.00 off on any purchase of $25.01 or more and I figured it would be at least that.

My winning bid was $22.50.

I got my discount code too...  trying to decide how to spend it now ?

I had a coworker go to an auction and picked this up for me. It's cool! And it looks to be complete and untouched from 1949! Anybody know much about these or collect them?

I have had almost an exact duplicate of your Lark on my self for just over 30 years. Your is a Friction Toy as you can see from the geared wheel that would have gone to the friction "motor" inside the chassis plate. Mine has a somewhat detailed chassis plate and the ability to lower it's ride height and I'm pretty sure mine is the JoHann kit model. Other than that they are even in the same color plastic. I bought mine from an Estate Sale and the builder had hand painted the chrome trim. I think you got a screaming deal on this one, just my opinion.

A couple of AMT '62 Pontiac Tempests.

One will be Mickey Thompson's first FX/A car, something I've wanted to build for decades.

Nice Bill. Seems we're all into Pontiac Tempests lately.

Yeah, I really didn't want to buy them right now, and I probably overpaid a little, but I haven't seen any '62s up for sale in quite a while...and they're not getting any cheaper.

Watch R2 repop 'em next year.    :D

Cool! Looking forward to your build(s). Before you replace the B-pillars, note that AMT messed up their measurements a bit; it looks like the door jamb should be moved back about + - 3/32":

The Jo-Han '62 Olds F-85's measurements were spot-on; AMT later got the length right with the '63 Tempest.

Went out shopping today for another display case for built-ups. While I was searching through the antique shops, I found a few items (as well as the cabinet).IMG_0920.JPG.7316fe5fd0c62312868626779a393108.JPG
