landman Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I got this:a stash of 409 parts. Some of will be used in the making of the 702. Is it just me or has Photobucket changed again. You now have to email yourself the photos you want to add. Except they don't arrive. So I used the forum thing. Looks ike I can't upload here either, it says Error 301. So no pix. Turns out Photo bucket was opening in"Mobile Site View" instead of what I'm used to. Anyway, here's my 409 pile:
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Mine will most likely be built as I always build them. Pretty much box stock. I don't worry a whole lot about being 100% accurate. Steve
Tom Geiger Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Hey Steve! Let me know if you need any pointers on getting that stuffing standing up like that! I just did it on my Volare.

Ace-Garageguy Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Wow. My cat's about worn out. I'll have to order something from them if they're giving away cute little pussies with every package.
atomicholiday Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 That cat has cool markings! Is that air-brushed?
Tom Geiger Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Your cat works on cars? He has grease on his nose!
1930fordpickup Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 You guys are getting cabin fever already! LOL I did pickup a Torino kit with the correct body lines this week.
martinfan5 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) @Geoff , that was good @Bill AKA Ace , I think it might be random, but , give it a shot, you might get lucky @ Atomicholiday, yes, but masking was a pain in the you know what, kept getting hair in the paint @Tom, its funny you mention cars, she is always trying to follow me out to the garage , loves getting in my car if its parked in the garage , we back it in after grocery shopping and she will jump inside the trunk . Joe Handley Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Another Cobra rolled in today. Got this one on ebay for a buck. Don't much care for it but that never stops me from buying a Cobra. That's a better set of wheels and tires away from looking pretty slick!
Deathgoblin Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Got my Revell Trabant 601 Universal today. Nice looking kit!
timc Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Well I got a bottle of model master Metalizer aluminum paint. $4.62 at hobby town. Used to buy whole spray cans for that price. Picture not nessecary.
ChrisBcritter Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Went to HTU and got a couple sizes of half-round Evergreen for the interior pleats on the '60 Chrysler, and a Tamiya scriber. Works pretty well (practiced on a couple scrap bodies, then rescribed the weak trunk lines on the '61 Falcon without gouging anything else), but I'm wondering if I could make it do narrower lines if I filed down the thickness of the blade. Anyone tried this?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Couple days ago I got some new Testor's sanding films to replace my MIA ones and the roughest grit one that self-destructed. Also got a bottle of markdown Tamiya brush paint. Royal blue, I think. Cracked cap; older, slightly yellow label, paint still fresh; $2.00!

Anyone tried this? As long as the file is harder than the blade it should work. You might have to use the dremel and a stone to grind the blade to the thickness you want. Why not just use the back of the #11 blade if you want a thinner line?

Tom Geiger Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 $60 well spent! I would've grabbed up those AW catalogs without a second thought! I also bought a Citroen 2CV, mine the Tamiya version, at a show this year for the same $15. And I've been buying those big parts bag myself. The last one I got at the Maryland NNL, was also a 2 gallon bag, but was filled with loose parts, much of it parts off old built ups, for $10. The bag was stuffed like a pillow. I spent a few evenings sorting parts into my bins and I'm still not done yet!
vintagedragcrazy Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Yea tom I know what you mean for 5 bucks each and they are stuffed he had several more but I left them for someone else and those catalogs sure are cool to look at. Vince
