Hope everything works out. Any doc who would charge you for a cancellation under the circumstances isn't much of a human being.

My thoughts too. Dad is 98 and pretty healthy other than the incontinence and dementia. Thanks Bill..

Yesterday's weather was pretty nice, mid 50's, no wind, and plenty of sunshine. So, my fishing partner and I decided to hit the lake for a bit of relaxation. Didn't catch anything worth keeping but had fun. On the way back down the lake to the loading dock an alarm went off on my boat, I didn't even know it had an alarm. The tach immediately dropped to 0 rpm, but the engine kept running. The lake was pretty smooth but a couple minutes later the boat felt like it was beginning to 'porpoise', so I backed down the throttle, a couple minutes later it began the same, so I backed off the throttle some more.  By the time we got within sight of the loading dock we were barely moving, and within 100 yards of the dock the engine quit completely.  Luckily, I had a good charge on my trolling motor and we used that to get to the dock and get loaded. One time before I could not get the engine to more than 4000 rpm, when I took it to the dealer they, of course, could not duplicate the problem; however, when I got it back it worked fine. I am a bit hesitant to take it back to them, but they are the ones who hold the warranty, so I will have to hope they will take the problem seriously.

This is model related. The vintage AMT 61 Ford convertible that I got from E Bay awhile back needed more work than I thought so it's on the back burner for it for the time being. I don't have the skills that may here do. I though a real good clean up and replacement of parts was all it needed. I was wrong. 😞

gorrila epoxy, been sitting for 36 hours and still not set, not stuck but it managed to destroymy chassis. it was well mixed and left for well over the 24 hours. what a waste of 4 days modelling, why sell a product that doesn't stick and call it a glue? i'd have been better off just spitting on it

Doing billing at home today, looking out the window as the USPS driver once again put an expensive package on a car in the driveway, and the UPS driver tossed another one, clearly marked "FRAGILE", from 15 feet on to the porch.

I sure wish I could do MY work so poorly and still get paid.

Yup. When I'm at the physical shop, I work all the time, except for the occasional short interaction with other guys who are there to work too. I DO NOT get a salary. I do pretty well, but I ONLY GET PAID FOR WHAT I PHYSICALLY PRODUCE.

When I do my paperwork and billing at home (which I have to do because I'm a subcontractor) I get distracted all the time by stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with getting the work done.

Just like right now.

And I'm pretty sure anyone who's honest with himself would admit the same thing.

Thing is though, my distraction time during WFH hours costs my clients exactly nothing. I take the hit in my own pocket by wasting time that would be billable if I were in the shop.

But hey...if you're getting a fat salary for sitting at home slacking, why rock the boat?

EDIT: Somewhere around 20 years back, I read a widely publicized time-motion study that concluded most office workers spent around 35% of their on-the-clock time actually "working".

This seemed to be pretty consistent with what I observed when I was a white-collar kinda guy.

I have a really hard time believing it's better for WFH people. 

It's interesting what passes for "productivity", isn't it?

My experiences with Gorilla Glue products have been so inconsistent, I've quit buying them, period.

Probably the best thing about emerging AI is that it's most likely going to obsolete all the WFHers in a relatively short time.

It is still questionable, however, whether it will ever be able to emulate their self-satisfied smugness.

My wife was at her hairdressers a couple of months ago and overheard a conversation between another woman and her hairdresser. Lady in question said she worked from home and took a couple of hours out to get her hair done. In the conversation it came out that she worked for the  taxpayer funded Citizens Advice Bureau. So taking her travelling time to the hairdressers into account citizens lost 3 hours of access time for advice. Self centred or what? 

Most of our government offices suffer the plague of WFH people  not going in to the office any more as do many other large organisations since covid. Knock on effect is that mamy small shops and street vendors suffered a major foot fal! Loss. If I was a boss of any of those organisations I would be giving my employees a date to get back into the office so the business could run normally. WFH is not efficient in many instances where workers would normally commute.

cab offices are only open until 2pm, the gov cut their funding during the financial crisis and it never got given back so they went part time

I'm guessing my insurance company is still on the "work from home" kick.  About a month ago, someone piled into the back of my car while I was standing still in traffic. 

They got the estimate on 12/1; that day, I received an e-mail stating that I would receive a decision in "two to four business days". 

Day seven begins today; all the while, they're paying for 80% of a rental car, as well as (in all likelihood) storage on my car.  Can't wait for the arguments to begin....

Having to dealing with a situation that even our well trained doctors and specialist at the hospital can not seem to be able to solve. My dads age and the fact that his aorta valve has calcium buildup on its flaps edges causing the valve opening to be restricted which makes any invasive procedures needed to find the source the bleeding in the lower GI such as a colonoscopy a no go! It could cause congenital heart failure. All non-invasive testing tried didn't tell them a thing on the actual cause. I was told we are at a wait and see what happens mode. I was told that it could stop bleeding on its own eventually, "if" its a internal hemorrhoid. 🤔 yeah maybe it will stop because he's done bled out.. Not good by any means..

This morning I had a ray of hope because dads bleeding had stopped over night. Those tears of sorrow turned to tears of joy!  Physical therapy showed up late afternoon and took him for a walk. I questioned them about it being to soon for therapy but they replied Nope. Hey they are the professionals, right? I took that time to go to the cafeteria to grab a drink, that's when I heard "Code Blue room 414" on the overhead page. I've never ran so fast in my life. When I got to him he was coherent but very weak. Soon afterwards the bleeding had begun again..😡 back to square one.

Or my real favorite is "All our associates are currently helping other customers, please call back later. Good-by." I had one the other day that told me I was #3 in line, the next time they came on the line I was #4, I hung up and called back much later. Do all these places only have one person working the telephones and are they on coffee break? I will normally put my phone on speaker and lay it on the desk. One day I actually completely went through this forum, replying to builds before I got to speak to a live person.

I don't know what year or model your Jeep is, but it looks like it has internally-expanding drum parking brakes.

I assume you released the parking brake, and the cables are free enough to let the shoes retract fully.

A lead hammer (softer than brass) is usually the tool of choice to persuade recalcitrant rotors or drums to let go.

Time to replace the top on my '89 Celica ASC convertible.

Naturally, the only vehicle in the '87 thru '89 Celica lineup that a convertible top fits is the ASC convertible conversion.

Several of feepay's hilarious "vehicle compatibility" charts show convertible tops fit every model.

Try installing one on a coupe.

Most of the parts-fitment charts from this most esteemed auction site are laughable, but this one really takes the cake.

Who pays these morons?

Used to work in a Toyota dealership when the '83's came out. The ASC salesman got us to take a consignment on a new '83 Celica with the conversion on it. They might be the only place to get an exact replacment top.
