  1. Exceptionally well done model, Sidney - I regret selling off mine !
  2. Very nice Squarebird, David !
  3. These leather straps/buckles look absolutely superb, Pierre - I think I will redo those on my 250 GTO's ...
  4. My present grail - today in the mail: Ferrari 250 GT SWB Bertone (Resin kit by Fernando Pinto):
  5. Friday afternoon I came across Motor-Max Aston Martin DB5 for € 12,99 (instead of € 22,99) - so I bought it against my initial intention. Only the green version had been available: Gramps46/Gary had shown us his 007 version last September here. The body proportions look good to me, but the model needs a lot of SNAKE-FU to reduce the toylike features: especially the interior (1-part interior tub with molded-in seats) leaves a lot to be desired - the dashboard is a seperate part. The grille and wheels will be toned down a bit, the headlights are not that great. The doors have those ugly doglegs (a letdown - we have been used to nicer solutions for that in the last several years). I've found pics of a nice DB5 in that very same color called "Goodwood Green" on the internet - with a little paint and detailing a nice model should be possible:
  6. Thank you for showing us this very nice model, Gary ! Did you take the engine from one of the - then available - E-type kits? Revell's XKSS could be a good base for building a shortnose D-type...
  7. Excellent rendition of a kit that has a lot of issues - well done as always, Anders!
  8. Very nice, Pierre - will be an excellent model when finished. The paint is almost too glossy for a 60's racing car.
  9. Gorgeous paint job on this fantastic model, Mike!
  10. Once again a nice model (that you don't see very often) from your workbench, Mario !
  11. You show us that even the kit wheels can look good when treated right, Bill.
  12. Just happened to find that on ebay France - where a Japanese seller is asking MORE THAN $ 1000 FOR A DECAL SHEET . What's going on here? This can't be true - but what a steal: Shipping is FREE ! here is the link: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/153370904683?hash=item23b59e486b:g:pdoAAOSwnM1cXio9&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8Mtt0gmiqsJZqegFpWx5y1rJdZknYO0coCSI0xk5aHoq538xmhXA0AIf6rAOkF%2FbP0HerUKcBP%2FKUoFceXxYr8MVzixwcKNHmgwGEHMD4oB6ltLcsGtioTDRcM9CmyZJUYXsfDTNk8ggHyQY2uGX1nLHfuon2SiQedVd5T4c9Yz154z7OmDxljMTjhbpHiQZklgS1g%2BSzQzZQpJcyKrRDlEagcnCfdn8wEsvMoJTp35jIU1pCemKReKDvTNBpkPViNXdj1%2BKleaIT2Jg6eIn4qQbc7C3KoGllJk6C7%2BDhg3OpUDI15cQ8AyR%2FxL7VwJvBg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5y0yZf3YQ
  13. My Marzal kit is from Bandai (1/20 scale) - the Abarth 2000 Pinifarina Protoype is from Nakamura (while interior/drivetrain/tires are complete junk, wheels and body look workable to me). Both need a lot of TLC to look presentable...
  14. Intersting finds, Bill - especially the Porsche and the Scarab (is this also 1/24 scale?)
  15. With your 275 P WIP you show us what can be done with those wheels, Pierre !
  16. This is the solution, Pierre - great idea gluing the rim onto the Jack spokewheel. I will try that also with my build.
  17. Great job in applying all those decals, Paul - well done!
  18. Excellent model, Gary - great to see a GT40 in another livery !
  19. Outrageous work, Pierre - your creativity is amazing! The canopy flange will definitely look excellent when done. Cutting tubes with an angle and using them as scoops is an idea I was also thinking about but have not put into reality yet (must organize myself tubes with the right diameter)
  20. Of my styrene kits my most valuable is this 1/9 Protar bike kit (got it from my brother for my 60th birthday) - try to find one on ebay ! and the rarest ones are certainly these from the late 60'/early 70's: Rarest resin kits: John F. Johnson's Ferrari 246 SP and 5 kits from Paul Fisher (Chaparral 2 F, Ferrari 512 S longtail and Sunoco 512 M, Porsche 917 "Hippie" longtail and 917/20 "Pink Pig")
  21. Very nice build, Greg - I can't see any issues here. Great idea with the Rudge enter-lock wheels !
  22. Sorry for flooding your thread,Pierre - I will hold back from now on.
  23. Pierre, the Italeri wheels are from their late 80's model kits: all classic Ferraris had those wires with same tire size front and rear, and the 300 SL (roadster and gullwing) had these tires also. The 1987 Revell GTO (Italeri reissue has them, too: The 2007 Revell GTO (= Protar reissue) sports the aforementioned Protar wheels: These are the kits from my stash which I took the tires from.
  24. A few thoughts concerning the wheels: Looking through my stash of kits, I recently discovered that the old Protar 250 GTO (which has been reissued by Revell AG in 2007) has an misshapened body (will be used as a donor for resin kit), but very delicately molded 3-piece wire wheels. Best thing is: it has even 4 parts for outlaced spokes that are not to be used in this kit ! They certainly can be combined with the Italeri back halfs for the Italeri kit tires as well (but these are of the same size front and rear). Here are some pictures (at 10 p.m. unfortunately no daylight pics are possible): on the left the Protar wheels - besides the Monogram chrome tree. The tires are rather crude with Dunlop Racing on the outside and Continental on the other side (fronts) but totally blank (rears): left: Protar front - right Monogram: Here are the rear wheels: from left to right: Monogram - Protar - Italeri I'm not sure if it is possible to tone down convincingly the glossy sticky surface of the Protar vinyl tires, you still have the crude side profile... Maybe I will use the smaller Protar wheels with outside spokes front and Italeris rear. Italeri: Diameter ca. 27 mm, Protar front ca. 26,5 and Protar rear 27 mm (ca. 27,5 mm with Italeri's rims inserted - fits, but stretches the tire a little bit)
