  1. Got 'em today. Did I need them......no. But these are gonna look freekin' cool on the display shelf one day!
  2. Oh yeah!!!! Photos look a little more clear in these photos!! Lookin' really good there Tom!!!!
  3. I posted something similar to this in a Charger build thread in here. I have been really enthused about all the Hemi Dart and Charger action going on in here and couldn't help myself................. Like I needed another kit! LOL
  4. Between all the Chargers and Darts being built around here it'll drive a sane man crazy! Went to Michaels today and got both of these!!!! Like I needed another kit! LOL
  5. Doug and Fred: Thanks guys! Fred I got over myself and just did it. I've got some trimming to do and some touch up painting but I think it'll be fine. Thanks for the push in the right direction. JC: Thanks buddy! I don't know if I'll brave that one just yet. Dan and Tommy: Thanks for the encouragement fellas! I can't wait to get started on that DB Tommy. Here's with the BMF on the grill trim:
  6. Thanks Lee! As far as today's updates go, I've been all over the map this morning as I glued the seat back down using a syringe my wife brought me home from work. With that drying I couldn't handle the model much so I moved on to the front clip again and brought out the grill trim. For this I broke out the Prismacolor silver lead pencil. I was initially going to go for BMF here to apply to the chrome strip that surrounds the actual grill but if I goofed this up it would be like a bloody nose as the grille is the center piece of this beautiful car. Additionally the grille itself has a silver coat over the checkerboard lines and after trying to replicate that with either paint (past experience) or silver lead pencil the finish came out irregular and didn't look right. After one unsuccessful application of silver lead I re-shot the grill assy black again and started over. This time I brought out the "Challenger" script/ emblem and the trim strip surrounding the grille with the silver lead and left the grille black. The way I look at it at least the checkerboard grille is all uniform. I worked on the tail light assy, cleaned up the front and rear bumpers, cleaned up the rear spoiler, and cut out the decals that I'll be using for the front and rear bumpers as well as for the rear spoiler. In the photos below I've corrected the silver "mess" from yesterdays headlamp bucket painting from around the outside of the buckets and installed the headlamps. You can't see the difference as good as you can the second photo but I think that most would agree that the results are hell and gone from box stock. I've still got a ways to go with painting the glossing the valance, painting the turn signal amber on the turn signal lenses, installing the bumper with decal and painting the lower air deflectors black but we're gettin' there!
  7. The paint and details are right on with this one as well as the stance as others have mentioned. Say.........did you get those wheels and tires from the Monogram 66 Mustang kit?
  8. Molded in exhaust??? Yikes!
  9. Atta boy Cheecho! Show pics.
  10. I've been around alot of Mopar stuff in my time Tim and I don't think you have any thing to worry about pal. That motor looks better every time I see it.
  11. Lookin' like the Chevrolet version of "Christine" here. Will be watching.
  12. It aint my great work. I consider mine somewhere in the intermediate range.
  13. I have a couple that will go to relatives and the rest I've asked my wife to donate to a museum. Like Mark, it pains me to see great work just tossed into a trash can.................and I've seen it happen!
  14. The mods are all great on this so far Brodie! That stuff looks like it was made for the interior!
  15. Thanks Dan! Don't worry, I think I have it handled.
  16. Ok a small update today. I've started on the front clip. I've got the black painted on, the "Challenger" script/ emblem finished and the headlight buckets filled in and "chromed". I still need to touch up on the outside of the headlight buckets where the "chrome" managed to get on the black paint. I've got a handle on that and it'll be fixed in upcoming progress updates. I also have to outline the silver border on the grille as well but am waiting until the "chrome" dries out completely. Of particular concern is the fact that my dang drivers seat came loose in the interior. I checked a hundred times on that before putting the interior in. I have a plan for getting that back down without taking "two steps backwards" and risking damage to the body trying to remove it to gain access to the interior. Will let you know how that works out. Just a pic to show some progress:
  17. A good 'ol check placed in the B029 box when ordering! NIce! When I was a kid I was fascinated by the Hemi Darts and Barracuda line ups with this option. At 11 years old I knew that these things were ridiculously prepared for the track from the fact....'er ...Hurst factory. Not even a window regulator and handle in those doors. Beautiful cars....even in primer!
  18. Thank you for what you have posted so far Cameron. I'm very much looking forward to the rest of the tutorial. And I came to this site initially just to work on my gloss finishes!!!!
  19. This paint work inspires me to work harder at my finish work. This is outfreekinstanding Tim! As for the 1:1 engine bay and engine....................I'd never drive it................anywhere! lol I'm a clean freak and it would pain me to drive that on the streets.
  20. Number orange is lookin' peachy........I mean awesome!! Keep the pics coming Tom!! I'm on board with the lack of benchtime this weekend as it's me and my wife's 19th anniversary. It's gonna be the second time I've missed the bench this year but am looking forward to spending some time with my wife away from the house.
  21. First off, this is looking like it's gonna be one good build. Secondly just how in the hell is this process done with the alclad?? I am sold! I would like to know every step involved with this please. I think I've got the gloss coat black with a clear coat over that and then the alclad coat. What do you use to make this stuff shine the way it does?
  22. Lookin' good Jay!!! Good to see you round these parts!
  23. Lookin' forward to see where this one goes.
  24. Now that is WILD!
  25. karsten: Thanks for the comments on the build. I'd be careful about the double sided tape and would be more inclined to use the Microsol that Jim is talking about. The only reason I'd resist the tape method is for longevity purposes. I've had some of my builds, well this one to be exact, for over 30 years. Thank you Dan! Bill: Thanks for the comments on the build and on the subject of the best wartime aviation stories around....I plan on reading the book again. There's talk of a movie being released on it. As for today's update I shot the front grill/ headlight area with a coat of black. It's not enough for an update pic and will be slowing down some on those just due to the amount of piddly stuff that needs to be completed to finish the model. To me it's what seems to take the longest part in a build is the final little bits. Bear with me and I'll probably have a pic update tomorrow morning guys.
