  1. I'm right there with Martin on that license plate. Adds some depth to that area of the build. This is looking great so far.
  2. I should really do something like this myself and your build here is driving me to want to do exactly that. So far you're really forming this all up very nicely. Following...….
  3. Is that Testor's Icy Blue? That coat sure laid down smoothly.
  4. I'll be tuning in to watch this one as well. I do love me some Darts.
  5. LOL! Thanks Tom!
  6. What's NOT to stay interested in! I have followed this build of yours the whole way through and you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be here when you pick this one back up. Looking forward to the next update when time allows on your end.
  7. Sharp work. You're really making this one shine bro.
  8. After curing out I wet sanded and polished 'er out....
  9. I've used guitar string once before as a tail wheel retractor spring on a 1/48 Focke Wulfe 190 D-9 that I built a few years back. Worked perfect for that.
  10. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!!!
  11. You know.....the one thing that I didn't notice was your age. You're almost exactly one year younger than my son is who was born on May 12, 2004. This is indeed good to see someone young like you into this hobby. You're doing some great work here bud. Keep it up.
  12. Good work going on with this car. I like the idea of the guitar strings for brake lines. Nifty.
  13. I wished I would've boxed in my frame rails on my Charger build. Pure oversight and it's too late to do it now but I'll be keeping my open on future builds for that. Good added touch.
  14. That paint job is sure a sharp one. Nice BMF job as well. WOW!!!
  15. Man this is looking great Tom!! You know.....if I didn't know any better I'd swear those are mechanic hands.
  16. Thanks for the comments guys. Today was Gloss Coat day soooo......I broke out the Testors "Wet Look" Clear ….the ONLY way to go for supreme gloss finishes in my experience. I dispensed it into a paint jar, let 'er gas out for about 5 minutes while I was removing whatever dust particles I could find on the body and went to work. Couldn't be happier with the results. Now...……..to let it cure out for a little while before a nice wet sanding and polishing.
  17. Thanks Dave. We'll see how the gloss coat goes......
  18. I didn't even know this stuff existed for the seat covers. Man this is looking great so far!!
  19. Thanks Dave! No sir...no polish as of yet. I agree with you on the color. I spent a lot of time wet sanding the imperfections out of the paint and then applying Bare Metal Foil around all the window trim and drip rails and today...the decals. Here's a couple of shots of how it sits now. Still got the flag decal coated with Microsol to help it all lay flat onto the roofline. Had a couple of areas on the edges where it didn't want to lay down flush. Now to let the cals dry and then off to the gloss coat....my favorite part.
  20. That inner fender detail was a good thought. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at a build (my own included) and thought to myself that something was missing in the engine compartment.
  21. Sorry to see what happened to the hood decal Bill. Other than that this one is looking great!!
  22. I remember both of those kits. Still trying to figure out the hole in the engine block thing. Was this added by the last builder or does the engine sit that low in the car? Looking forward to more.....
  23. Looks to be a pretty decent kit. Looking forward to the build.
  24. This is such a cool thing to do and it looks like a great project so far. Honestly, what espo said is I would do in drilling out the area where the shocks mounted up and if needed insert a piece of styrene on the back side of the hole so you can insert new shocks. A few years back I had the opportunity to build a 1/48 scale F4U Corsair for a good friend of mine who's in his 70's. Guy loves him some Corsairs so.....I built him one for Christmas. That kit wasn't the best one to build and it fought me all the way to the bitter end but the pay off out of that was amazing for not only him but for me as well when I saw his face light up on the unveiling of it to him. It's gonna mean a lot to your dad as well. Trust me. This is looking really good so far.
  25. Impressive weathering and detailing going on......
