  1. Looks like it is ready to do some racing. Nice job. I went for the completely stock look with the KR ramair and deluxe tan interior. The kit shows its age and it would be awesome to see a 1/24 version based upon the AMT 67 GT350. Of course I'm dreaming.
  2. The only name I recognized was Chewbacca. It's funny people seem just as happy to get a picture with a look alike, even if they (the owner of Washington Capitals) are sort of famous too.
  3. Thanks for the updates with all the trouble you have had posting. So ... will it be done by next spring?
  4. Miraculous recovery perhaps - apology to anyone offended on both ends of the spectrum - doubtful.
  5. I have seen listing for basically the same kit (1/12 Otaki) Mustang from anywhere from $150 to $500. I think I paid $125 for the last one I bought a few years ago. Patience is the key. If you need that one of a kind part I guess your choices are limited. I just do not get the parting out common and cheap kits (under $20) when it would make much more sense to just buy the whole kit.
  6. Also gets me is the $6 decal sheet and $5 shipping. Charge more for the sheet and $1 shipping and that would be easier to swallow. I guess if someone needs to mark things up that much they probably need the money more than most. The rationale of paying for the sellers time does not fly here - it's a envelope and a 50 cent stamp.
  7. Hard to find parts are one thing but if I parted out all my run of the mills kits at $100 each (when whe you add up the cost of the individual parts) I would make a fortune. The reality is I would have to relist these overpriced parts over and over and over and over and clog up Ebay and once in a while a sucker would come along and buy an air cleaner or whatever. I have no patience for that. On this board it someone has a want and I have and extra part they need I (hold onto your PayPal pants) I send the part for free or trade for something of similar value. That what this hobby is about. I have bought a few obscure old kits on Ebay oly when I could not find them anywhere else but I will not overpay either.
  8. I would go if there was one close by. With all the attractions in DC (Air & Space has two museums) and nearby Andrews AFB you would think someday there would be a National convention in the Nations Capital. It's not worth it to travel 2,000 miles to see mostly tanks, planes, ships and figures. Having said that the NOVA IPMS puts on a great show every April and gets a decent turnout of bikes, cars and trucks along with the aforementioned non civilian ones. Seeing how it is close to you this year please post pictures after the show.
  9. It is very hard for people in many occupations to walk away. Unless they have some other passion they would be bored to tears. There is a time to say it's over before you are putting yourself and others in danger. I hope he finds something to replace the thrills but if you ask me the years of the travel has got to wear him down. If his daughters were not racing perhaps he would have retired by now. Hopefully the Force will be with us a title longer and he can watch his legacy continue.
  10. I have a bookcase,a bookcase with glass doors, a hutch, and two glass display cases for models and diecasts an they are all full.
  11. You can see how much smaller the MPC is in this side by side.
  12. Just wondering if those wheels would rub but given its a fantasy model I guess that detail does not matter.
  13. I think you all missed a few.
  14. Those kits had a lot of potential is only they had a full engine. If IMC could have made them fifty years ago with opening doors and front and rear sections you would think Fujumi would step it up. Of course they are much more accurate than they toy like IMC kits but they do have a certain nostalgic value.
  15. Yes. That is a bummer. I will have to find what I usually use or switch to something else. I'll give it a week.
  16. Very cool idea. While my car was never in rough shape (repainted in 1990) I did have a blast driving it all over the east coast to auto crosses, shows and track events. The signs in yours looks great. Here is my car in the mid 1980's and last month. Where did the time go?
  17. I painted a body with Testors Primer and it is still tacky after three days. I have never used a Dehydrator but maybe I need to look into getting one. Funny thing is I usually use a Testors model masters flat light aircraft or gull gray primer and it dries very quickly. Does it have to do with the glossier paint that it takes longer to dry than flat. With the only Hobbytown close by closing down in January the local paint selections are slim pickings.
  18. It is a bit tacky to say the least for them to charge you, especially if you bought coffee and tea etc.
  19. The decals look pretty good too.
  20. It was posted yesterday also.
  21. Very realistic and well done. My dad flew 30 missions 14 years before I was born.
  22. Since I already have one Eleanor and two Shelby look a likes I decide to go with a different color. Yea or nah?
  23. Also on the west coast House of Hobbies in Palm Harbor. The place is packed with models up to 30 years old.
  24. Made some trades with 71 Mustang in South Africa and we both have been happy. Us Mustang guys have to stick together.
