  1. If you're worried, wash the sprues in Clorox or rubbing alcohol, or both (NOT combined!). You should be okay. Oh, BTW, I wouldn't let the chrome sprues soak in Clorox or anything containing ammonia--the chrome will be removed. A brief dip and rinse in water should be cool.
  2. Didn't till you mentioned it. I just happened to have a minty AMT '62 HT body literally at arm's length, so I resized the profile pic above till I got the body length the same. The side window height on the kit comes up to the top edge of the drip rail on the pic, so the top might be chopped 1/2" if that. I think some of the chopped look comes from the '65 2DS roof shape, which we're not as used to seeing as either the hardtops or the '62-'64 2DS style. At any rate, I'm in for at least two of each.
  3. I bought a glue bomb AMT '57 Chev today JUST for its taillights. A few months ago I bought a rescue-able MPC flip-nose that's complete except for the taillights and their chrome. I'm hoping the AMT parts fit the MPC body. If they do, I'm in bidness. And, as a bonus, I think I might have figgered out a way to correct the mis-shapened "spear" molding on the MPC Chev's quarters.
  4. I agree. On the test shot sprue pics, it looks like there's an alternate panel for the rear end with cutouts for the '62-'64 type taillights. So I'm assuming the HT will be another year.
  5. I'm constantly finding kits I don't remember buying. Often soon after buying another copy of the same kit.
  6. Very, VERY nice! I'd be proud to have that one on my own shelf. Well done and model on!
  7. Since you want it in gray, I'd start laying on the Rustoleum clear lacquer right over that nice even primer. Six to ten coats should do it--my bet would be eight.
  8. That body has a couple nasty molding lines but looks like you got them off. Drive on!
  9. Local toy show day. Scored three glue bombs for $10--Monogram '70 Challenger TA, Monogram '64 GTO, AMT '57 Chevy. All are either rescue-able or have harvestable parts worth the price. And then an old Monogram metal body MG-TC kit, which seems to be 100% complete and unstarted, for $20. This will be my first one of these.
  10. As Teri Hatcher might put it: "It's real! AND it's spectacular!" (Let's see who gets that.)
  11. Might be. All I know is the C-piller is definitely bigger/wider on the '65. I'll take some time and suss out where/how.
  12. You know I love a good "rescue" story. Very nicely done and model on!
  13. Those are cool! I'd have to turn that Concord into a 2-door.
  14. It's sometimes useful to cut the sides off the tub, detail paint everything to your satisfaction, and then reassemble everything. I don't do this often, but I have done it and it works.
  15. I'm gonna have to do some research to see what would be necessary to convert the '65 2DS roof to the far more common '62-'64 2DS roof.
  16. For many years I built models while watching TV. And then at some point TV suddenly got a lot better and I wanted to give it more than just half my attention or I'd miss something. Nowadays while modeling I have the radio on, usually talk radio.
  17. Great story and great work--you know I LOVE "rescues!" Well done and model on!
  18. Very first thing I thought when I saw it was the old Robert Redford line, "Think ya used enough dynamite there, Butch?"
  19. Never with MPC. Only thing I've ever had shatter was a Monogram '70 Chevelle molded in dark blue metallic.
  20. Yeah, I am. But I think my '65 Grand Prix is molded in this color, too.
  21. There's a clear steering wheel in the AMT 260 Cobra, too, I believe.
  22. Very nice, very clean build! Well done and model on!
  23. The Ford drag set is pretty cool, but I already have an unbuilt '64 Galaxie, two AWB Falcon glue bombs to restore and one unbuilt kit, and two or three unbuilt Blueprinter service trailers. Still, if the decal sheet is just WAY hella cool....
